This bowling alley is adjacent to the sand volleyball courts, which are fun to watch or participate in as well. The Cedar Rapids Sports/Social Club hosts a lot of summer and winter events (including bowling). At this bowling alley, I usually get a pitcher of Big Grove's Arms Race craft beer to drink with friends as we bowl. The atmosphere is classically sophisticated with an air of the 80s. After calling to confirm they were open, we decided to return to May City Bowl. It is a big facility with plenty of lanes. There are a few modifications due to COVID and to allow for social distancing. They will put your group on a lane away from other groups. Unless you bring your own ball, you are required to use one of maybe 10 balls that are stationed at that lane. It limits finding a ball that fits your fingers well and the weight of ball you want to use, but is understandable under these conditions. It cost $22 for three games for 2 people including shoe rental. Not a bad entertainment value. We didn't have anything to eat or drink but I know they offer a decent selection from past visits. If your looking for some solid fun in a clean environment that doesn't look down on you if your not a professional, I would recommend May City Bowl.
