This was my first visit to Cochecho Dental... I was sitting in exam room with very little wait time. Beth was they hygienist that did my exam and cleaning. She was very thorough and friendly... Most comfortable cleaning I have ever had and I have had quite a few... Dr. Donnelly came in and reviewed my dental situation... she proposed a course of action for future work... she answer all my questions and explained everything very well. Do not bring your child here. They are not pediatric dentists. My daughter had fillings done here & we since switched to HAAS Dental (because of another negative experience with Cocheco Dental) a pediatric dentist in the same building & at our first appt. HAAS told us that the fillings that were done at Cocheco Dental were done incorrectly. The fillings are too close to the tooth pulp/nerve which can create infection & absesses later. The Dr. insisted that two fillings be redone as crowns to avoid this issue. Meanwhile we had been paying out of pocket because Cocheco Dental did not accept our insurance. Thank goodness HAAS does. I'm furious my daughter has to go through those procedures AGAIN. read more

A few years ago this dentist office recommended I get a consultation for my wisdom teeth. They offered to take a specific type of X-ray that they said the oral surgeon would require for the consultation. They said my insurance wouldn't cover it, but they would charge much less than the oral surgeon. I agreed and paid out of pocket. When I had my consultation, the oral surgeon said they had called the dentist office for the X-ray and were hung up on. But, not to worry, my insurance covered it. They did the exact same type of X-ray, using the exact same machine, and I paid nothing. I switched dentists. Contacted this office to transfer my records. Filled out a release form. Big surprise, they never sent them. They are either liars or completely incompetent. Avoid at all costs. read more

I was a customer here for a year or two, but will never go back to this office or seek services from their primary dentist ever again. All the hygienists themselves were excellent - but the office itself seems to have consistently documented shady business practices, and I cannot recommend the provider based on her demonstrated lack of professionalism toward clientele. From the other reviews I'm seeing, this place sounds like an absolute horror story for so many former patients and I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with any serious dental work that would have led to some of the other issues people experienced here, or court issues, etc. I seriously hope those people have reported this business to the authorities!! Office personnel will consistently ask to reschedule appointments at the last minute that had been scheduled months in advance. Then after you reschedule...they will call you again, and ask you to reschedule, sometimes multiple times, and sometimes within 24 hours after having just rescheduled the previous appointment. After being shuffled around, scheduled, and rescheduled multiple times recently, I finally asked the office rep on the phone why this kept happening and that I've never had any medical provider do this kind of thing ever before in the past. She told me that sometimes they don't even know their own providers' availability until the last minute...and then said the recent scheduling changes were happening because the staff is trying to end their workday earlier in the day. (!) I told them enough - this practice of all the last-minute scheduling changes has to stop, absent some kind of legitimate emergent circumstance. I contacted the managing dentist directly to advise her of what has been happening with the repeated scheduling issues at her office. Instead of acknowledging the issues and promising to get to the bottom of it or fix it / do right by her clients, she cancelled all my remaining appointments without notice (one of which was for the following day) and pushed me out of the practice "in the best interest" of me and her team. I was stunned. She claimed they take great pride in providing a patient-focused practice, but then did the exact opposite of being patient focused and told me to seek dental care elsewhere when they were in the wrong. Finally, when I offered to pick up my dental records from their office in person, she mocked me for not knowing the dental records were all digital. Today, I received two separate emails from an email address attributed to a person who reportedly left this dentist practice three months ago - each email contained only a single picture file of x-ray scans. No patient records at all. No appointment history, no clinical notes corresponding to each visit, no actual dental records of any kind - just the two picture files. What a joke. This practice seems to care so much about its public image, but not about what really matters - treating people right, accountability to their patients, and holding their employees accountable (yes, including dentists - you are not above reproach). They literally advertise in each patient room to please leave a positive Google or Yelp review and they'll give you a free gift card. Between this review page and the other one for the actual dentist (https://www.yelp.com/biz/jennifer-a-mcconathy-dds-dover-3), this practice is a minefield of unethical behavior and conduct. Stay far, far away. Fully expect them to leave some half-apologetic response here where the doctor tries to gaslight you into questioning reality, and then pushes you out of the practice while simultaneously trying to couch it in being in your best interest as a patient: 'we're sorry you remembered things incorrectly' / we're sorry you feel that way, but you should find a new provider.' read more

First time going and will be back! All staff were knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. The dental hygienest took care of me right away with very little wait time. Dr. Donnelly then came in, reviewed the work, and had an honest and professional opinion about my chart with a swift course of action. They helped alleviate my pain dental issues. I was having some sensitivity in one of my front crowns. They did X-rays and inspected during my cleaning and all looked ok. A week later it broke in half right in the middle of my workday. The office got me in same day for what I thought would be ordering a new crown, instead was $330 to glue it back together and needed another appointment to have them removed and ordered. I have insurance coverage for 50% of crown replacement but they require full payment up front just in case and to wait for a refund if covered. When they arrived they got me in same day. She held the crowns up to my mouth for me to inspect. I asked if they looked darker than the others. She said they were a perfect match. The bite was off and after some adjustments suggested to give it a few days and come back if needed. Later when looking in the mirror I see that they are in fact darker than my other teeth, one of them feels significantly thinner than the other and isn't contoured the same. The bite was still off so I went back for a bite adjustment. I am told again that they are a perfect match. Immediately following that I noticed a chip in the bottom of the thinner one! I called and they couldn't see me that day. I had a previously scheduled appt with my usual dentist for the following week and was told they would look then. The dentist who did the crowns refused to come in and talk to me at that appointment and kept relaying messages through my dentist. I asked if anything needed to be done while I was there to help move things along. They said no. She called later after speaking to the lab and will replace both for free but that that I had to come back and have an exterior scan done before they can proceed. While there she said they could just polish it but that she understood I was nervous and that they were new. I expressed that they really need to be replaced as I just paid thousands and explained my concerns about the contour and the shading as well. We do the scan and I am informed that the new ones are on order that day. Almost two weeks go by and I call to check. I leave a voicemail and get a text back stating the crowns are still at the lab and the dentist went into labor early and that she prefers to seat her own cases so they'll let me know when she's back. I told them that I'm not really comfortable waiting months to have this repaired. It is sharp and I am worried that it is going to crack completely. That I would like to have another dentist in the office do the replacements. No response from office. After multiple contact attempts the clinical director called me. She said they couldn't order new crowns until I had a scan with the current ones taken off. I let her know that the dentist said it wasn't necessary. She seemed annoyed with me and said ,"Well I didn't know that!" Then she said they are booked solid for the next few months and wouldn't be able to get me in either way. And when I expressed that they generally have room for emergency appointments and that this is a really big deal she told me that I had two options- to wait for the original dentist to return in a few months or that she could refer me to a different practice where I could pay out of pocket. I said how unreasonable it is to do either of those things and that they should refund me so I could go somewhere else, or to have another dentist in the office do the crowns. She became very hostile and said "We already paid one dentist to do it so we aren't going to pay another. But I can go ask everyone AGAIN!" And hung up on me. My insurance company called the office to negotiate the claim but they refused. My attempts at contacting the office have gone unanswered. They got their money and they don't care. They messed up and knowingly installed defective crowns and then gaslit me about it when I raised concerns. She told me that they haven't had any issues with this lab. However my husband had a crown done by her a few months ago and they had to reorder it because the first one also came in the wrong shade! read more

When you get there, the office staff love bombs you. Once you get into the dentistry office, the doctors' behavior is predatory and prejudiced. You know that feeling you get when you go to the mechanic for an oil change, and they have bad news for you, but then you see a different mechanic and they're wondering what made you think you needed tires, new brake pads and rotors, a transmission flush, and new belts? It's like that. Of course, you're the problem when you're upset by this. I don't recommend them, just as I don't recommend the "oil change" place that suggests a few extra "add-ons" that end up costing thousands of dollars, too. read more

Sketchy. Moved to the area and needed a new dentist. Went in for a routine cleaning and was pressured and upsold into getting a deep cleaning/scaling by the hygienist, who cheerfully urged me to come in 3 times a year for cleanings "because insurance covers it now." When I tried to double check this with the business office, no one was ever available to talk with me and I called at least 6 times - no one ever called back. After paying $200+ up front for the cleaning, bills of random amounts were sent to me. $1000, $800, $600. Almost a year later they have settled on about $260 that they say I still owe them for the one cleaning. I have insurance, no dental problems, and have never paid for a cleaning in my life. Not sure what's up here, but it's definitely sketchy. Maybe the hygienists work on commission :) Pick a different dentist. read more

Beware. I had a variety of restoration work done at Cochecho Dental over the course of a year. Initial couple of visits were pleasant, even though Dr. McConathy seemed distracted and got snarky when I asked questions. Over time, it was clear that Dr. McConathy's diva attitude and brusque rejection of any questions about procedures had her staff fearful of confronting her about mistakes. She ended up putting a crown on a tooth that needed a root canal, despite my concerns. I was overbilled by more than a thousand dollars for this, and, despite acknowledging that I was owed the money, the office lied about payback procedures and dragged their feet about returning my money. Overall, my experience with Cocheco Dental was the worst I've ever had. If you value your dental health, your time, and your wallet, avoid Cocheco Dental. read more

I went for my first appointment and was told I needed a "deep cleaning" and was numbed up, then provided with a form that 1/2 my deep cleaning would be $160. I consented as I felt pressure. I then continued with the rest of the appointment, x rays etc, and told I needed a couple of fillings. When I returned for a filling, the hygienist asked me about scheduling the other half of the deep cleaning, I informed her that I wanted a routine cleaning as my insurance doesn't cover a deep cleaning. The hygienist left and Dr. McConathy returned. I was informed by Dr McConathy that as I would not consent to a deep cleaning which is needed, that they would not do my filling. I informed her I was in pain and knew that there wasn't another dentist that I could get into quickly, she suggested I go see an emergency dental clinic or I could be provided with a list of other providers in the area. read more

As a first time patient, I was extremely impressed and satisfied with treatment care, Beth ( my hygienist ) for the appointment, doctors, front desk personnel and the affordability of today and future treatments, based on my needs. And being an all women practice is a rarity with the business world today and the length of time the practice has existed. read more

Got a new crown and broke after one year, and they wouldn't replace. Their own billing person said it should be guaranteed for at least two. They were willing to fix for half price because insurance wouldn't cover their poor work. Switched back to my former dentist. Would not recommend at all. read more
