Dr Tam and the dental staff here are great. Having had a lot of dental and periodontal work done at various other offices, I can say this office is one of the best. Hygienists are very friendly and go the extra mile to ensure comfort during procedures. Many hygienists I've had at other offices did not offer to apply numbing gel to sensitive gums during routine cleanings or put notes in my file to ensure other hygienists don't use the ultrasonic scaler on certain areas where roots are exposed. The hygienists at Healthy Smiles did. Dr Tam is great at what he does as well. He warned ahead of time that a tooth needing a very large filling could require a crown if the limited area of healthy tooth structure remaining were to crack. Dr Tam was able to maintain the integrity of the tooth while completing the large filling. Another tooth that already needed a crown was at risk of needing a complete extraction and subsequent implant. Dr Tam salvaged that tooth as well. He has a very calm manner and explains procedures well. The only hiccup I've experienced was an insurance billing issue resulting from my previous dentist waiting months to submit a claim and causing a miscalculation of my total annual benefits remaining. This resulted in my out-of-pocket expenses exceeding what the Healthy Smiles staff quoted me by about $100. After discovering the issue, the staff worked with me and decided to comp the $100. Great customer service all around at this place. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the market for a new dentist. read more

I needed a tooth pulled and I was extremely nervous. And when I say extremely, I mean like panic attack . I went in and immediately told the dental assistant how frightened I was and she was so kind to me. Her name is Misty and she was just an angel. The doctor was just as nice and just as flexible and understanding and patient with me. The whole experience went amazingly well even though I was so frightened. I have only been to the office once...it was my first dentist visit in over 7 years and I was in very bad need of it and scared is an understatment. From the moment called the office my worries were settled. The staff has been wonderful thus far. I need some major work done and explained that I wanted to make sure I had a plan that fit in cost wise and they understood. We came up with a game plan and set a time table that offered me little stress for payments. So far I am more than happy with their services and I can wait to have my happy beautiful smile back. read more

The practice is very nice and has state-of-the-art equipment. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and make good use of the technology. For example, if they have a concern about something, rather than describing it to you, they can take a photo of your tooth and show it to you on a screen instantly while you're sitting in the chair. It helps to understand what they're talking about. Things do seem a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. They explain things clearly (what they're doing and why, and if work needs to be done, why). They seem more concerned about the cosmetic aspect of their work than other dentists I've had. Whether or not that's important to you (especially in areas of your mouth that aren't commonly visible) may vary. Visits with Dr. Henderson are usually brief as it's a busy office, but I haven't had much need to spend longer with him. read more

I have a great experience every time I go to Healthy Smiles. Dr. Henderson is very good about explaining everything he's doing and the reasoning behind it. The second time I went in, the everyone remembered me and made me feel comfortable and welcome. At Healthy Smiles, I don't feel like I'm just another patient. I feel as though the staff genuinely cares about their patients. Healthy Smiles have great payment plans and work with you to find the best solution for you in terms of payment. Other dentist's I've been to can't even tell me what my co-pay is until my cleaning is over which can lead to some unexpected surprises! Every time I go to Healthy Smiles, I know what I'll be paying before even I sit in the chair. I would gladly recommend Healthy Smiles to any of my friends. read more

This place used to be a local small dentists office - I went there for many years. Dr. Henderson is knowledgeable and his staff used to be reliable. Over the last 5+ years they've transformed themselves into a larger office that resembles more of a money making marketing machine. They typically recommend numerous suggestions never covered by insurance. Almost always tell you visits will be covered but then you're nickel and dimed with additional bills afterward. They used to have a stable staff but now their is new hygienists in there consistently and turnover seems ridiculous. Have periodontal work there done twice, although it helped it didn't do as promised and now they've got a contracted periodontal specialist for more money they use once a week who they've suggested a consult. Those two scaling/laser periodontal treatment series were over $5000 each and it didn't work. Yes they have state of the art equipment, yes they are often friendly but they have clearly become more interested in building this marketing machine and taking your money then they were in the days of being your local friendly and wonderful dentist office when i started going there over 20 years ago. As of 3 months ago I've decided to take my business elsewhere despite multiple attempts to resolve some of the above complaints with the practice. Dr. Henderson's wife will talk a big game to try and satisfy complaints but there is no folow through and overbilling and charges keep coming after. read more

My Husband and I had just moved to the area and were in search for a local Dentist. Our Insurance company listed Healthy Smiles as our closest location. We called and were seen rather quickly. The Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable. The initial visit, (X-rays, pictures, exam) was quite lengthy but I understand it does take time to get to know a patient. I just hope at the next cleaning it doesn't take more than 45 minutes. I would recommend my friends and family to this office. read more

Dr Henderson is an excellent, knowledgeable, experienced, kind and caring doctor. He is excellent with procedures that show when you smile, such as front caps/crowns and restorative work. You don't get to see the same hygienist and the place is always very full for one doctor, but they do a thorough job and all the hygienists are very nice. My only caution is to be wary of recommended unnecessary procedures that they may push upon you as they are costly. read more

These people are much more interested in making money than serving the best interests of their clients. They offer you an entry into a free iPad giveaway if you go online a post a positive review. (Hence all the high ratings online.) They told me I needed 3 fillings to be replaced and when I went to see two other dentists in Dover - they BOTH told me I only needed one replaced. These people are state of the art, yes, but to pay for all of the fancy equipment they get all the money they can from you. read more

Dr. and Mrs. Henderson's practice looks much more like Palm Beach, Florida than it does Dover, New Hampshire. State-of-the-art equipment, rooms, prices, and a less than warm/sincere practice. Very disappointing and very expensive suggestions for necessary dental work, this after moving back here from a 15-year absence, and with Dr. Ron having been a friend of mine 15 years ago; however, he failed to remember me. That for me felt surreal, having known him and his children from the past. The high end office look in a town I treasured as a New Hampshire stalwart, plus about $6,000 worth of proposed dental work suggestions, prompted me to take my business elsewhere. With $1,800 of work already completed by Dr. Ron (i have always kept current on dental work), both the price-tag and other issues came as a bit of a shock, nor was it what I wanted to proceed with in the surreal atmosphere I referred to earlier in this review. read more

On my first appointment here I had a consult to decide what types of treatment i wanted to pursue since i had not been to a dentist in years. Many options were given and as i began to visit regularly for cleanings etc, things switched from the original consult to completely unrealated courses of treatment, like a $500 mouth guard - when i told them i had a $20 mouth guard from a local pharmacy, they spent 1/2 hour telling me how wrong i was to use it and that i need to use theirs. When i brought up my desire to have my front teeth gently filed to address a few very small chips, they changed their turn, said they couldnt file them because it would make them too short, and out of the blue told me i should have ALL of my teeth pulled and dentures put in. Every time i tried to question them as to why the subject was changed. My teeth arent perfect but they still have a long life to go. I am currently looking for a new dentist. I'm tired of how i'm treated at Healthy Smiles, always being diverted from my wishes and toward a more expensive and extreme treatment for everything. read more
