I'm actually quite upset about this experience. I asked the waitress, "How many tacos come with the street tacos meal?" and she replied, "However many you want." I didn't understand what she meant because that is obviously not true, and her answer was very unclear. Based on that, I ordered two steak tacos and two al pastor tacos along with two beers. The total came to $50, which I find hard to believe. The "Street Tacos Meal" is listed as $9.99, yet for some reason, they added a $3.00 upcharge for the steak and then charged $8.50 for two additional street tacos. I thought I was ordering the meal; how did I end up spending $21.49 on four tacos with rice and beans when the advertised price was $9.99? This doesn't add up, and the staff was extremely vague when I was placing my order. While the food was okay, the al pastor was very fatty. Stopped in with the family and left seriously impressed (and seriously full). My shredded chicken enchilada special was flavorful, cheesy, and perfectly cooked. The nachos were massive - piled high with meat, veggies, and plenty of queso. Dad went for the Burrito Sancho, which was huge and came half covered in cheese sauce, half in red sauce - both equally good. The steak tacos were fresh and loaded, and the Gold Margarita half pitcher was smooth, refreshing, and definitely worth it. Great portions, friendly service, and a menu full of hits. Have been back here 3-4 times over last 2 years and the experience has increasingly been less than our first visit over 2 years ago. Our most recent visit, and possibly our last, was this past Sunday (in between lunch and dinner), and overall experience was at best 3 stars. The service really lacked any personality. The guacamole dip was actually quite horrible; it was overly ripe and watery; clearly left overs from who knows when. Two pics attached. We called it out to the server who said that is how it always is. When we said we never had it that way before at this restaurant he just shrugged his shoulders. We had to ask for anything that was needed. My wife had the Burrito Sancho, which she said was okay but not all that tasty and definitely needing more veggies. I had the Enchilada Vegan (cactus) dinner, which was quite good, as it has been in the past. Two of our dinner guests had kids chicken with fries. The nuggets were over cooked, but the fries that came with it were a lot and quite good. read more

I enjoyed the Taco Salad - the ground beef was flavorful, and I loved the smaller-than-typical-but-very-crispy salad shell. My husband also liked his beef burrito. The best treat of all was the discount on small pitchers on Sundays. We had a pitcher of mango margaritas, and it was larger than I expected for a "small" plus they were delicious. best carnitas street tacos i've ever had. i'm sure they used corn tortillas instead of white tortillas and it makes a big difference. the tortillas were also quickly fried. the carnitas were so full of flavor. we also ordered the house margaritas and they were exceptional. we could taste the layers of the ingredients...triple sec, tequila, lime juice and topped with salt. the staff is very attentive and personable. we will definitely visit again and recommend this restaurant to friends traveling through this area! read more

My in laws chose this for our Christmas dinner. We ordered take out and it was ready very fast. They put the food in cardboard/paper containers. My containers were practically falling apart because it was saturated with liquid from my food. I get trying to be eco friendly but maybe only do that for dry foods! My husband and I both agreed the food was just OK. When I eat at my favorite Mexican restaurant I xan taste different ingredients and it's a flavor party. The food from here tasted all muddled together. Nothing really stood out. It wasn't great or bad, just meh. I have been to the actual restaurant years ago and they had a buffet. Had lunch with my friend. I had the lunch tamales with two soft chicken tacos. He had regular soft chicken tacos and spicy chicken tacos. Stopped in for lunch with some friends and had a good time. We were seated immediately and our waiter took drink orders. When drinks came we gave our luncheon order. Food came out rather quickly and everyone was satisfied and enjoyed their meals. They have a very nice luncheon selection to choose from from the lighter side. Everything seemed clean and orderly. If you happen to be passing through Perrysburg Ohio and are in the mood for Mexican food- this is the place to be! The food was delicious and they had many unique options. I ordered the queso chicken and it was a plate of seasoned chicken small strips covered in queso cheese and it came with delicious rice and refried beans. I also ordered a side of the habanero hot sauce (which they forgot to bring and when I reminded the waiter it took forever for him to bring it. That would be my one complaint about this restaurant). The hot sauce was awesome- I wish it came sooner!! My friend ordered burritos deluxe which consisted of one beef burrito and one chicken burrito. YUM! I have both dined-in and ordered carry-out from Cocina de Carlos, and both experiences were great! The food is excellent, and portions are generous. Each meal seems to be very thoughtfully prepared. Every person I have interacted with at this restaurant has been very friendly, the wait time for food is very short. Drink-wise, I have only tried the Texas margarita, and it's good and strong. A very comfortable environment has been cultivated in this restaurant, and the music is good but not loud. The porch is great when the weather is nice. My coworkers and I have made a habit of coming to Cocina de Carlos every time we are in town, and it is certainly a highlight of our work trips. My friends and I went and our food was good. Some of us ordered dinners to go. When they brought out the to go orders they were burned. When I told them that they are burned they said yes. That's it, mine wasn't as bad but the other was really black. This surprised me because the dinners we ordered could be easily replaced because enchiladas rice and beans are already made up. That's it, so although our food there was good, my opinion is they don't care what leaves their kitchen. So I would tell anyone I was going to recommend this to. This story. If you enjoy Mexican food, you can't go wrong here. This was the last stop on my way back to Michigan. This time I was looking for a place that had vegan options and was not exclusively vegan. On the menu was a vegan section. Plenty of options and there were options sprinkled through the menu as well. The wait was short and because it was so beautiful outside we sat on the patio. Service vegan with a basket of tortilla chips and sauce. You could taste the freshness. I ordered a skinny margarita that was refreshing I ordered the vegan pineapple. The food was delicious. It was the perfect temperature and the presentation was great. It was more than I could eat yet I was trying to make room in my belly because it was so good. We drove about an hour to get there but we weren't in a hurry and wanted to get real authentic Mexican food. Wow did we pick the right place. Service was top notch. Half pictures of margaritas a bonus. I had the pineapple Don Charly Tarasco, it was to die for. So much flavor it was unbelievable!! Couldn't even finish 1/2 of it. My husband had the Burrito Sancho with steak. He said it was the best and biggest burrito he's ever had. He also took almost 1/2 home. This is now our favorite Mexican restaurant by far and is worth every minute of the one hour drive. Can't wait to go back and try something else as well, hard to make up our minds but the choices were abundant. Oh one last thing the salsa was so fresh seems like they made it and brought it right to our table. Only suggestion is more cilantro. read more

There is no way this is four stars. Food was not good. The carnitas was dry and inedible. Two bites and I was done. The chile rellano was lacking flavor and when cut into the cheese all came out and was the consistency of queso dip. Not good. Ambiance was like a typical Mexican style restaurant and was nice. Service sucked. We ordered an extra side of something and never received it. They never asked, nor gave us refills. When you leave 2/3s of your food on the plate, the server should have the presence of mind to ask what was wrong with the food. Took too long for us to get our check. In fact when we did get out servers attention, he was sitting down on his phone and not watching his tables. Go across the street to Condado tacos and eat there. Really good appetizers, drinks and tacos. Way better. read more

I'm ok with spicy and don't really like "heat" but the tacos I had here were the most bland, tasteless things I've ever had. Had two chicken tacos and two beef tacos, and the meat all seemed like it had been sitting in warm water all day. It had that boiled taste and consistency. Terrible. On a previous trip I had a chicken chimichanga and it was pretty bland, too. There was barely any cheese on it which was pretty sad. Service here has been average at best, too. First trip there were some communication issues we had with the server. Second trip that wasn't a problem, but the waitress never came back until it was time for the check. They weren't busy, so not sure why she was so inattentive. Unimpressed the two visits, so unlikely to return. read more

Very little to complain about. The service was super fast. We ordered and before we knew it, our food came out. Portion sizes were favorable. We are staying at the Staybridge Hotel and Yelped the closest Mexican restaurant for take-out. Due to COVID concerns, we are avoiding eat-in options at the moment. Cocina de Carlos is a solid, healthy, generous meal! We called the restaurant directly (versus Grub Hub) in order to access the full menu. I was able to get a yummy gluten-free vegetarian meal, my husband got steak tacos, beans and rice, and my son got the pork carnitas platter. Very hearty as delicious. My husband also recommends getting the apple caramel mini chimis for dessert. I can't taste them due to my food allergies, but he said they are a excellent finish to a very good meal. Everything was packaged perfectly, utensils included, plenty of napkins, too. The order was ready for pick-up on time. It's only a 10 minute drive from the Staybridge hotel.
