I went looking for a coffee shop to while away an afternoon and fell into this lovely establishment which is part cafe, part bakery and part gorgeously designed movie set straight out of Wicked! Seriously, the decor here is stunning. There are so many levels and nooks and cute sitting areas. The chai was hot and not too sweet. The pastry I ordered was to die for. I'm in love with this place! Have been wanting to come back here to try their burgers as they look good in other reviews. I had the.Cocinomo Burger with a different bun since I'm not a fan of squid ink. The combination of the blueberry flavoring along with a burger was definitely interesting but the real winner honestly were the fries! Unfortunately, the service was pretty slow and nonexistent. Had to walk up twice to get my water refilled. I think I'll come here again, however because of the difference in food that they offer here. Burgers are pretty pricey compared to son of Thurman's down the street. Amazing atmosphere however and a fun place to go. read more

Passing by in our car and I wandered in because the sign looked inviting and Yelpers were positive. I gather a rather new downtown business. Not crowded at all at 11am. It's a big space. The pastry cabinet is awesome looking and all made in-house. I had the cheese and scallion which was 5*. I may have missed the coffee menu so I ended up with a cold tres Leche. It was very tasty but a Bad choice on my part, too sweet. Excellent service all around. Clean bathrooms thanks for that. I predict a good future for them and I'll talk it up to my friends. read more

Walked and asked if seat self and order at counter. Seated self and waited for hubby. As not busy, they brought menus, water, silverware and actually took order when hubby arrived. Food was fabulous! Had caprese omelet. Fries has pesto, parm cheese and spinach on. Full of flavor! Hubby had Chicken pot pie..more like chicken salad, hot with veggies but tasty. 2 pastries..apple and cream. This bakery is beautiful inside. The decorations are inviting you to take a seat and enjoy time with friends. It is larger than I was expecting too. The display cases are filled with fantastic looking pastries. Both sweet and savory. I tried a sweet cheese fruit pastry and a beef pastry. They were both amazing! Full of flavor and surprisingly filling snacks. They have a variety of drinks as well. You pick the drinks up at a separate small bar area. This is a great bakery in downtown Delaware. Great location and nice decor. But the non bakery food offering is very rigid. Too rigid. Like "the customer is always wrong" rigid. They offer a variety of burgers. I asked for one prepared plain. Server said "we don't do that. The owners don't believe in that." I smiled and said "so it's served the way the owner likes it, not the way the customer likes it?" She said "yes." That was a serious issue. So I chose a peach French toast option, even though it was lunchtime. It was unappetizing and something was off about it. I felt queasy the rest of the day. This is our second time trying breakfast here. It took more time than expected for our order to be taken. Only 4 tables sat with 5 staff members visible. We both ordered the traditional pancake breakfast. The food tasted good overall, but it's not listed that it comes with a salad. I don't mind the salad, but my pancakes ended up with dressing on them. The dressing + syrup made a few bites less than enjoyable. If I would have known, I would have asked for the salad on a different plate. Additionally, the eggs were plated on top of the pancakes, and the bacon on top of them, as if to avoid the salad. I had to move so much food abound to be able to get a bite of the pancake. We were done for at least 15 minutes before someone came to clear our plates and offer us the check. A friend recently recommended Cocinamos so I was pretty excited to check it out! First the outside of the cafe is so cute, it definitely stands out on the block and walking inside the vibes just continue. It's very cozy, warm, and peaceful inside. They have two dining options, a counter service side and a dining in/table service side (which I didn't realize at first, it wasn't very clear). I ordered my pastries and drink at the counter and chose my seat. There's a pretty wide option of pastries, both savory and sweet. I opted for one of each, one beef chimichurri and one guava. For my drink I chose the très lèches café. I really enjoyed my pastries, they were nice a flaky and balanced in flavor. My favorite of the two was the guava, it was reminiscent of a danish but better. My drink was good too but I was expecting it to be sweeter, the foam never mixed in so it didn't really have a très lèches flavor. As I sat in the cafe, I watched other customer's orders come out and I have to say I wanted to try every single drink, they were just so pretty! I'll definitely be back to try more of the drink & pastries and for table service for their breakfast menu. Overall this was a pleasant experience and I'm so excited to have such a unique cafe in Downtown Delaware, I hope they'll be around for a long time. read more

So glad this new cafe is here! The Venezuelan-inspired food and drinks are delicious, and the atmosphere is both super cozy and beautiful. Cocinamos just opened a little over a week ago, but it's already one of the best place in all of Delaware to visit. Service is very warm, friendly, and timely. Fabulous coffee. I made a reservation on their website for a party of seven at 1:30pm on a Saturday. When we arrived a lovely large table was set up for us. Everyone enjoyed their specialty coffee items - though be sure to specify if you want your latte hot or cold. I had a regular black coffee and it was very good. They had their lunch menu available so I had the Arepas - very good with plenty of cheese and avocado on a crisp cornmeal pastry. 3 people ordered empanadas and 2 ordered burgers. Our vegetarian ordered an apple pastry. Everyone enjoyed their food. The Venezuelan burger was massive and looked amazing. I will have to try a burger next time. If I could have one wish I wish they would offer a salad as an entree or at least as a side. I was in the mood for salad - but I guess if I want salad I can go across the street to Buns who offers a delicious Cobb Salad. Anyways... The seats were comfortable and the decor is beautiful. Everyone was very kind and we very much enjoyed our visit. The food and restaurant itself is definitely 5 stars. The reason for a 4 star review is that the service is very relaxed - kind of slow - like you're in a foreign country. Not bad by any means, just kind of leisurely. So I highly recommend this restaurant as long as you go in with the understanding that things move at a relaxed pace. So special! We recently chose Cocinamos for our 50th Anniversary celebration, and we were so happy that we did. Everyone first raved about the artistic decor (a must-see!) and the friendly, attentive staff. Later our guests shared that they had just experienced the most delicious and delightful brunch of their lives! We encouraged them to select a treat from the bakery "to go" when the party was over, and we are still getting calls and texts about how exquisite their baked goods were after our guests returned home. It's so nice to have a great bistro in town with both sit down meals and to-go items. I think the menu was well planned and the savory meals are some of the best in town. The chicken in the chicken & waffles was perfectly fried and had a great crunch. My eggs on the waffle breakfast were light and fluffy. Both savory meals came with the most delicious salad and tomatoes which balanced the richness of the dish. I hope they bottle the dressing for purchase soon. I wish the sweet menu items (pancakes & French toast) were a bit more refined. The tres leches and tiramisu we ordered had more sauce than I cared for. I think if they made the sauces a bit thicker and used a lot less it would allow the pancake to stand out more. The decor is beautiful and helps set them apart from other local restaurants. We drove to Cocinamos in downtown Delaware on a Friday for lunch. The display case of all their sweets and pastries looked amazing and we were seated immediately. There were three tables of people eating in the restaurant. We waited at our table for over 20 minutes. No one ever came to take our order. We finally got up to leave and walked over to the person who seated us. We told her we were going because we had never been waited on. She said I'm sorry, I've been busy making coffee. This was at 1 p.m. and the place was empty. Extremely disappointed. We will not go back. read more
