This place is cash only so be prepared. You can get a dozen of their more classic donuts for $12 or $1.35 each and the larger donuts (think bowtie, cinnamon roll, apple fritter) for $3 each. Yet I believed. Like this donut was Santa Claus and my gifts would be there and great. Oh my was it ever. A maple bacon donut. I have never in my numerous trips around the sun. so many I no longer have hair and AJ Hawk was a freshman as I a senior. This donut made it from CBus to Sylvania, Ohio. Right next to the soon to be mural capital of the world...Toledo. Now this donut was left and forgotten at two different households. Before it was delivered to me at noonish today by a dear dear friend. Now to the donut. It was simply marvelous. 48 hours. Hundreds of miles in cars. Yet it tasted fresh. The bacon, whole well cooked pieces, still crispy. The cream inside. A surprise. I was not expecting. It too was like it had just been shoved inside the soft donut canoe. Exquisite. It wasn't as sweet as I personally prefer, but that's because I'm used to donut shops that make their chocolate donuts extra sugary. If you like a more balanced chocolate flavor, you'll probably enjoy it. The Brown Butter Brûlée French Cruller was my favorite. It was light and airy with buttery, caramelized notes. I actually think it would be even better warmed up with a cup of coffee--it reminded me more of an after-dinner dessert than just a donut. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. Between the friendly customer service, the unique flavors, and the charming atmosphere, I'd definitely come back to see what seasonal flavors they have next.

We ordered a couple cinnamon twists, a glazed raised, an orange bar, and a banana cream filled donut. All of the donuts are made from a yeast dough (raised donuts). So no cake, cruller, buttermilk, or old fashioned donuts here. The first one I tried was the orange bar. It was sickenly sweet and doughy. I couldn't taste any orange in the icing, just sugar. My hubby took a bite and he had the same reaction. It was so awful it got thrown in the trash. The banana cream filled was also sickenly sweet, but I didn't mind the banana pudding (it was like jello instant pudding). It was too sweet to have more than a couple bites though. My hubby said the glazed donut was ok at first, but too sweet. The cinnamon twist was the best of them, as it was covered in cinnamon sugar instead of glaze. There was a quality difference between the two we got though. His was soft and fresh, and mine was dry. It was not a traditional cinnamon twist with cinnamon braided into the dough. The cinnamon was just in the cinnamon sugar. I'd been hearing great things about Jeff's Donuts, so this was all around disappointing. Definitely not worth the trip.
