We tried the pancake meal and the bananas foster French toast. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The hashbrowns and eggs were extremely greasy, and the pancakes were bland. The syrup had no flavor at all -- almost like watered-down syrup, which was really surprising. The bananas foster French toast was just okay; essentially two croissant-like cinnamon rolls with banana and banana pudding in between, nothing special. The one positive was the service -- our waitress was very kind and the food came out quickly (about 15 minutes). Sadly, the food itself didn't measure up, and I wouldn't recommend it or return. read more

Bethany left the bill at my table and you pay at the table. I liked that. I went to the ladies restroom with no intention of coming back to my table. We really like this restaurant and I wanted to bring my mom. On a Saturday morning at 11 am they had a 5 minute wait. My mom and I were happy it wasn't longer. When we were seated in a booth, Aleah came over to help with mom's walker (just to get it out of the aisle) and took our drink order. She was very friendly and helpful. They have some alcoholic beverages but I ordered a soft drink. We ordered empanadas as our appetizer. My mom decided she wanted the French Toast breakfast and I ordered the steak and eggs with onions and cheese on my hash browns. The food was excellent! The empanadas were so delicious! All I wanted was to pay my tab and it was like I was asking for codes to the nuclear weapons! This is a quaint local place with home cooked comfort food. I ordered the pot roast and my coworker ordered the meatloaf. The meatloaf was cut pretty thin, but there was nothing left on the plate when Ryan finished his lunch. My pot roast was a very generous, serving, and all I could barely eat. I was certainly not full when I left. The service was very attentive, and we did not have to wait to have our drinks refilled, this is always a bonus during the summer time in Florida. The only reason why this dropped from 5 to 4 stars, was due to the temperature in the restaurant it was 96° outside and not cold inside. I first tried Cocky Rooster in 2014 when I just moved into town and was less than impressed. Flash forward to now and my father had visited with a buddy and said they apparently got a new chef, spruced up the menu, and the food was good! Went there for breakfast and it has promise. I usually judge diner-style breakfast by their basics and today I went for corned beef hash and eggs with a side of biscuit and gravy. Egg cookery was good, hash browns were cooked well but no flavor aside from potato and oil, hash was your standard "dog food style" (ie super ground with tiny potato cubes, the canned stuff) and that's not a negative in my book as long as it's seared with a good crust which this was pretty good. The biscuit was a bit sweet, fell apart but in sort of a dry, crumbly way and the gravy was standard mix with barely any sausage in it. Swing and a miss on biscuits and gravy, B+ on the hash and eggs. My father was the smart one and got the Frita Fresca special which was a fried beef steak topped with fried eggs, salsa, guacamole, pico, lettuce - sounds weird but it worked well and the steak was cooked nice and tender. So it seems like their appeal will be more for the unique items rather than the diner standards. The lunch menu has a big Latin influence so I'm definitely returning to try that, and the bakery cases look heavenly! read more

If I could give this place a zero I would! ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE WE'VE EVER HAD!! We had to leave this place because of the exceptionally rude waitress there. She had black hair and facial piercings. Even after she noticed us up front she took a while because she was too busy chatting with other guests already seated. Then when she finally came to seat us we asked kindly for a booth and she commented rudely that oh no she's too busy to clean one for us. She was very rude and acted like she didn't want to even be there. We have been going there for years and it's sad to lose future business because of the lack of quality customer service. The veggies were fresh tasting and not slimy, which can sometimes happen when they're pre cooked or microwaved. Hashbrowns- These were pretty basic, but even the most basic hashbrowns can be bad if not cooked well. These were cooked crispy just how I requested. Buttermilk Biscuit- This is where the enjoyment stopped. I'm not sure if an ingredient was missed this day or what, but this might be one of the worst biscuits I've ever had. Grits- Basic diner grits, but we're fully cooked and once seasoned were pretty good. Overall the service was friendly, the restaurant was packed. If you're in the area like I was to play discgolf, it's definitely worth stopping in for some good food. read more

With choices like bananas foster French toast, Philly eggs Benedict, and my order the chicken and the egg. The chicken and the egg is a Parmesan crusted chicken topped with white gravy, two fried eggs, bacon crumbles, green onions, and parmesan cheese. Of course, your choice of potato and bread to accompany. A delicious combination. Or server was delightful and helpful with suggestions. She checked in on us regularly and genuinely looked happy to be there. I must go back to run through the menu. It's been awhile since I posted a review on this place, so I think it's about time for another. On average, I, as well as at least one other member of my family have a meal here once or twice per month. I usually come here for breakfast, though we do come here for lunch on occasion. The regular menu is awesome, and has many of my favorites. The money shot is finding stuff on the small, temporary menu. Anytime it's on the temporary menu, I go for the Breakfast Street Toast. By far, the best breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten! It's enough to fill you up, and the price is reasonable. The last time we went for breakfast, the Street Toast was on the temporary menu. Obviously, that's what I went for. On the other side, was a couple of lunch options that got my attention. We went the other day for lunch to test them out. The Teriyaki Sriracha Pork Belly Tacos, and the Chicken Chorizo Tacos both sounded great. I couldn't get anyone in my party to agree to ordering both and splitting them, so I ordered both for myself. I'm not gonna lie; I ate all four tacos! The Chicken Chorizo Tacos were good, but the Pork Belly was so good, I wanted to sew my ass shut! Absolute perfection! The fries were good as well, but I couldn't have cared less if I got any of them; I was focused on my tacos. The rest of my party ordered grilled cheese (kids menu), two Cuban Sandwiches and a Spicy Cuban. Five adult meals, and a kids meal was like $63. I figure that's a win. The three Cuban consuming members of my party didn't finish them, due to size, not quality. Each of my taco dishes came with fries (Cubans did not), and the fries were passed around the table, but we're not finished (again, due to quantity, not quality). Oh yeah, that $63 price tag included two pastries from the bakery. The only thing that disappoints me about this place, is that due to COVID, they stopped staying open for dinner (Prime Rib) on weekends. I never made it there for that, and to be honest, might be my biggest life's regret... Also, tremendous service by the host and wait staff! We live about a mile away from this restaurant, and every time we drive past, my four (almost five) year old shouts, "Cocky Roooooooooster"!!!!!!!!! She also gets a high five from Miss Nina every single time she visits. Awesome place! read more

I had the beef empanada and it was everything you'd want-flavorful, juicy, crunchy. My meal came with this cilantro aioli that I want to replicate at home. It was simple but yummy. My aunt loved her Cuban sandwich. We all agreed that the French toast were a miss. They were drenched in cinnamon so you couldn't taste anything else. The texture of the bread was off as well. There isn't that many restaurants in the Deltona area so we've been looking for a breakfast place and this popped up. It's about five minutes away from our house which is great. Busy Saturday morning everybody came in for breakfast so the parking lot was practically full. Went to the hostess stand then got seated immediately outside and then our server came within five minutes. Took our order, we got our drinks within five minutes and our meals within 15. I love that the service was fast and quick. The only good thing about my food was the pancakes and the Bellini . The Benedict was not good at all, I only ate half of one. The crab tasted really fishy and it had no flavor , I wish they made it into a crabcake. I may come back to try something else and give them a second chance since there's not that many options in my area. read more

The biscuits I would honestly skip the dough was just very dense and didn't have any particular flavor. The avocado salsa was the best part of the meal for me and it was an add on.
