As an engineer with considerable experience building and renovating single-family homes outside of California, I planned to have my own engineer prepare the drawings, obtain city approval, and then subcontract each phase of construction to separate companies. I initially thought this would be the least expensive way to maintain control over every aspect of the project and to make sure it was done my way. The process started out well, but with my frequent work and personal travel, I quickly realized that I did not have the time or patience required to manage multiple contractors and coordinate every phase myself. That is when I decided to hire Platinum Builders. Devon, the project manager assigned to my project, came out quickly to review the approved plans and discuss the project in detail. He was professional, responsive, and willing to work around my travel schedule. From our first meetings, it was clear that Devon was not simply focused on winning the project. His professionalism and honesty gave me confidence that Platinum Builders would be the right company to take over the work. I received three other quotes, and two of them were substantially lower than Platinum's. Despite the price difference, I decided to go with Platinum because I felt more confident in their ability to manage the entire project properly and provide a turnkey solution. The project had already begun, with the footings excavated before Platinum took over. Devon quickly brought in his footing specialists, and they took over the work without any unnecessary delays. The crew was professional, knowledgeable, and clearly understood what needed to be done. I did not have to spend time explaining basic construction requirements or supervising their work, which I greatly appreciated. The framing crew was equally professional. They were willing to answer my questions, understood the engineering drawings, and did not need to be educated on how to interpret the plans. It was obvious that they knew what they were doing and paid attention to the details. The roofing portion of the project went reasonably well. The final phase, including drywall, trim, and painting, was where I experienced some quality issues. The subcontractor was generally good, but their junior crew and some of the preparation work did not meet the same standard as the earlier phases. Several items needed to be pointed out and corrected. What impressed me, however, was how Devon handled those issues. He recognized the gaps, did not ignore my concerns, and was quick to have the problems addressed to my satisfaction. In any construction project, especially an addition, there will inevitably be issues along the way. What matters most is how the contractor responds when those issues arise, and I believe Platinum Builders handled them appropriately. Overall, I believe Platinum Builders is a great company to consider for a major home project. They are willing to take on complex projects and provide homeowners with a true turnkey solution, which can be especially valuable for someone who does not have the time to manage multiple subcontractors. Despite having the knowledge and experience to manage the project myself, I ultimately realized the value of having a professional company coordinate the work. Based on my experience, I would choose Platinum Builders again for a future project.

My time is valuable I change entire week to meet with him, especially in construction, where every delay can affect the entire project schedule. Despite having the property address and project information in advance, Ray was unable to locate a clearly visible 5,000-square-foot corner lot and ended up approximately half a mile away. Several other general contractors have visited the same property without any difficulty. After waiting nearly two three weeks just to meet the company owner at the property, this level of disorganization was extremely disappointing. If the owner cannot properly coordinate and arrive at the correct address for an initial consultation, it raises serious concerns about how the company would manage communication, scheduling, and execution during a major construction project. Based on this experience, I decided not to move forward with Prime Builders & Experts.
