We decided to do our Kitchen, bath and laundry room remodel on the recommendation of a neighbor who also worked with Shay and his team. At the time, it was early in their project, and we marveled at how quickly they were working. By the time our project started (months later due to inspection delays), I was worried. Their project was several months delayed, but the final product looked great. So I was still hopeful. The project ended 3 months overdue, which shouldn't take this long based on what we've heard from others with kitchen and bath remodels. Much of the delays toward the end were due to major errors that needed to be redone. The subcontractors truly averaged working Tuesday-Thursdays from noon-4pm at most. It's hard to write this review because we do love the final product, though we worry about the quality of some of the workmanship given several issues that have already arisen (e.g. a cabinet breaking within a month of install, cracks in the wall where tile was added in the bathroom, significant errors in measurement that resulted in a re-design of the bathroom). What I found most disappointing was communication with Shay. He's a warm and amicable person. He was professional in his communication for the most part, and ultimately did follow through on remedies to the many issues that came up. That said, he was not forthcoming about errors up front, which meant that we would circle the drain on issues until he eventually admitted fault. Considerable time would have been saved had he been honest up front on a number of issues. There were also times when he would promise something, and then retract it. Thankfully, most of our communication was by text, so I could reference it later. It definitely eroded our trust with him over time. read more

Last year, we started our project with a different contractor- one that turned out to be a nightmare (poorly done work/bankruptcy/abandonment). Left with a half finished master bath/closet (photo attached- a disaster), we were SCARED- we needed to get the project done but we were obviously very hesitant to trust anyone after our experience. We got a few recommendations from friends- and after talking with friends who had their condo done, went with Shay at Built To Perfection. Their quote was pretty solid, but most of all, they were the most professional, communicative, and well explained of all the companies. I've recommended them to multiple friends since simply because they are so professional and clear about what things cost, and timeframes. And not only that- our bathroom looks GORGEOUS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We signed a contract and paid a deposit with this company over a year ago. They have jerked us around every step of the way. They are not proactive, take months between communications and are just happy to steal your money and let you sit. We have literally received nothing from the deposit we paid and the "project manager" (or lack of project manager), Shay , refuses to speak to us on the phone and only wants to text or make in-person appointments. When we informed said project manager that we no longer needed their services after 5 weeks radio silence (this after a previous 7 weeks of radio silence), his response? "Okay." We had Built to Perfection do our ADU about a year and a half ago and 2 months after being here we started having cracks come up on our walls and ceiling. The floors started lifting and our baseboards started coming apart from the walls. They came and fixed a few cracks only for more to come out and get worse. Had a leak in a small bathroom that resulted in mold, and because the tile was improperly laid in the first place, and the vanity / toilet were in need of replacement, we decided to do a full reno in the process of repairing the leak and remediating the mold. The initial appointment was easy to make, Roi was on time (the only contractor who was, incidentally), knowledgeable, and patient with all my questions (and there were a lot). His quote was fair and pretty much exactly what we expected. By the time he left, we felt confident that we were in good hands, and so although we did our due diligence with other bids, it was clear from the start we'd be going with BTP. They stuck to the price originally quoted - final cost ended up higher than the original bid, but that's because we decided after the quote to switch from a shower/tub combo to a custom shower, which required moving both the shower drain and the toilet. After the addendum was added, there were no surprises, no hidden costs, even though I was allowing for them from the start (my mantra is, 'take whatever they quote and add 20%"). We did end up about 5% over, but that was due to unexpected asbestos/lead that the mold remediation company required to be dealt with before they'd complete their part of the work. Demo day, the crew of four spent about 45 minutes carefully covering the floors and taping everything securely, ensuring no damage would be done in the process of demo. They wrapped up demo in about half the time I expected, and left absolutely no sign they were ever here when they left for the day other than the protective coverings that were left throughout the project. This was the case throughout each step - the crew always cleaned up thoroughly at the end of the day to the point that sometimes when I came home from work I didn't realize they'd ever been here till I went up to view the latest status of the bathroom. Roi was an absolute pleasure to work with from the very beginning - astonishingly responsive (I'd send an email, and he'd call me within ten minutes - evenings, weekends, from out of the country; it didn't matter. He took the time to answer my questions about the materials I was considering buying, going so far as to review links I sent that I didn't actually expect him to look at. Paula in the office was a sweetheart; always cheerful, always willing to help in any way she could. Of note here, the office phone was ALWAYS picked up by the second ring - always. Angelina, with whom we worked the most, was responsive and available and kept us looped into every aspect of the job as it progressed. The crew was fantastic - special nod to Luis and Armando, who were knowledgeable, cheerful, dedicated, and overall absolutely awesome to work with. They were ALWAYS on time. If Angelina said, "the crew will be there between 8 and 9," the crew was here by 8:15. They worked tirelessly when here; never cut a day short, never lingered over lunch. As is customary in home reno projects, things didn't always go perfectly; there were mistakes made here and there, but the thing about those mistakes is that a) they were immediately acknowledged without excuse or deflection or even perceptible frustration; b) they were immediately corrected; c) we were not charged for any extra work as a result of said mistakes, which is literally the most you can ask of a contracting company. Every step of the inspection process was passed easily, with the inspectors (we had three different city inspectors) complimenting the guys on their work and a couple telling me they loved the materials I'd chosen. Haha. The payment schedule I was given at the beginning of the project was followed to the letter. No surprises, checks requested right on time and in the amount they'd previously indicated. They didn't delay the next step of the job till they got the payment for the prior - it was always Angelina saying, "Crew will be out tomorrow between 8a and 9a, and by the way, please send a check for [X amount for last part of the job." I could go on and on, but those are the high points and probably the ones you're interested in if you're reading reviews on contractors. The bottom line is that Built to Perfection clearly take themselves and their work seriously and approach it with the highest of integrity. Professional, communicative, skilled, honest. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Temper your expectations with the understanding that sometimes things will go wrong, but you can be confident that if those things go wrong, the company will bend over backward to make it right and they won't take advantage of you in the process, nor will they talk down to you or be dismissive of your concerns and questions. I probably could've paid slightly less for our renovation project, but I have no doubt that I would not have received the same quality of service from top to bottom, elsewhere. read more

I could write a book on how little I enjoy dealing with contractors. So, when the time came to redo our backyard (cuz, Covid...that's what everyone's doing, right?) I was really nervous. My experience has been terrible in the past. I put the word out and got a few recommendations, one of which was Built To Perfection. They are spectacular. They answer questions fast. They have brilliant design ideas. They work WITH you without making you feel stupid. They are extremely reasonable, pricewise. There are many more accolades I could write. We are so close to being done but I had to take a moment, sitting in my outdoor space, enjoying the beautiful soon-to-be-spring day, I had to write. This company is very cut rate. I am in the process of getting my kitchen done and my master bath. They have been a HUGE headache. The workers show up at 10:00-12:00 and finish at 4:00. It takes them multiple days to do what should take one day. There is no quality assurance. My wife and I have to find all these mistakes when they leave. There is the "finished product". Take a look at the photos and you tell me if this the work you want to pay for? They talk a big game, but cannot compete with the big dogs. They also just reinstalled our appliances in the kitchen and NOT ONE OF THEM WORK!! The electrician came over to rewire for a new light and couldn't get it done and messed up the switches and Asher and Roi tried to blame me for it!! My friends have had much better success with other companies. BTP has lost 3 jobs in my neighborhood due to the work they havAsher told me he didn't care about my negative review but then contacted Yelp moderators to have it removed. He would not guarantee the replacement of my cabinet doors in writing!! He says his "word is his guarantee ". If only real life worked that way. Update: 12 months later. All of our bankers are chipping. They don't put paint that last for west and tear. We have original cabinets that are over 20 years old and Roi's stuff is already chipping. They cheapened everything in our house for a big price. Do not use them and do not trust Roi. He has no idea what what he is doing and we need to get all of our cabinets re done. You would think they would do decent work but they don't. Roi can handle small Jobs, but to ask this company to do multi -room, they just aren't skilled enough. The owner is very mean and just wants his money; and Roi allows it to happen because he doesn't want to lose his job. Our cabinets in master bath and kitchen are already chipping. 3.5 Stars This is about 1 year post full home remodel, including the entire backyard. Pros: Roi was easy to work with, and quick to correct anything that wasn't done correctly with no charge. BTP prices were in middle of the 10+ quotes I received, but we chose them because the majority of their remodels matched our style so it made us feel more comfortable than going with another company to save money. All of the bathroom remodels were amazing and the prices were fair. The tile work, paint, and trim work came out amazing and had great attention to detail and I would highly recommend BTP for a bathroom. Cons: The kitchen looked amazing when it was first done. The cabinets are constructed well and came out as we designed them. The countertops, drywall, and all the lighting are great. Overall the price was fair for the amount of work this house needed (which was a FULL remodel). However for some reason the tile guy who did our floors did not cut them evenly, so when I later went to install flooring it was a disaster as the edge of the flooring was off over an 1.5" on a 12 foot span. Unacceptable for a professional and the price we paid. The paint on the kitchen cabinets flakes if you look at it. I understand the kitchen is a high traffic area but we have no kids and are so gentle with all our things. The bathroom vanity's that are store bought get WAY more traffic and look brand new. Now the BIGGEST con!! Unless they have hired a new pool builder absolutely do not have them do your backyard. We spent a fortune on redoing the backyard and I was not happy when it was done, and the past year it has just gotten worse. 1. The pool builder installed the equipment in such a way that it makes it extremely hard to service if there is a warranty issue (there have been 3 in 1 year). 2. I had them build a U shaped bench around a fire pit. At first the bench looked nice, however, when you look at it there is no cap stone to it so it looks unfinished and unprofessional. The seating portion is about 11 inches deep, standard is 16-18". So sitting on it is uncomfortable for sure. 3. The concrete is a stained and stamped light tan concrete. It looked AMAZING the day it was done. Within 6 months it looked blotchy. Within a year it looks HORRIBLE. It's embarrassing that we have spent over $150k on a backyard that is a year old and looks 20 years old. It is absolutely horrible that a professional concrete company would do this work. I have had multiple concrete companies come out and all of them have said I'm stuck with It unless I want to redo it all. Which I do not at this point. 4. The SAME subcontracted company did our turf. It's about 20x40 pad next to the pool. 0/10 stars. -10 out of 10 stars. It looks like someone grabbed a roll of green carpet and threw it on uneven dirt. I have many friends with turf and it all looks beautiful. This looks like absolutely amateur hour work. It has looked like trash from the first day and I had them come back twice to fix it, it is just horrible. Maybe it is the product and not the installer? BUT I picked from the only 3 sample they gave me. Short medium and tall grass. If you can't install a product don't pitch it! Conclusion: Roi was easy to work with and to communicate with. The work he oversaw and used his guys that he works with was good. 9/10 work. I realize nothing can be perfect but I was satisfied with how it all turned out and would hire them again for any bathroom or kitchen. Set all your money on fire before you have them do any concrete work or turf. I realize these are subtracted companies and not people BTP hired, and that BTP is a general contract company that is playing middle man for the work. That is fine. BTP if you read this never ever ever use the company you did for my yard. It makes me sick to my stomach how much this backyard cost and how unappealing it is now due to concrete and turf work which is 85% of the yard. Now I get to save up thousands of dollars for the next couple years and have my backyard torn up again to have it redone. read more

We recently had our 2 bathrooms remodeled by Built To Perfection and this was our 2nd & 3rd projects. They did a partial remodel of our kitchen 3 years ago. Since it had been 3 years, we did talk to other builders on the first bathroom project with an unique request. We wanted to create an access to this bathroom from outside so our guests will not have to go around the house to get to a bathroom while they are using our pool. Since it's a small bathroom and there is no space to place a door from outside, we even thought about opening more space into the guest room next to it. But one day we found some pictures online that showed a door from outside opening right into the shower area. We liked the idea so much, so we mentioned it as we were getting the estimate for the projects. Roi was the only person who was excited about our idea and said "we could do this".
