Would give this a 4.5 if allowed. Clean, friendly and courteous. Always do a good job, sometimes a great job. It really depends on who you get but it is my top place to go in Tacoma. They are gentle and considerate. I usually get the Classic (or most basic) pedicure. Have done the others, but just doesn't seem that my feet look or feel any better with the extra scrubs and lotions they do on the fancier versions. Had a mani-pedi back in March. Was quoted one price before making an appointment, AFTER was told another price (+$12). The setting feels more like an assembly line than a spa type atmosphere. They CANNOT wax! No baby powder on the bikini area pulled the skin unnecessarily= pain! Pulled in the direction of the hair instead of against like you have to, not thorough at all (still patches of hair all over my legs), blobbled wax all over so thickly that it didn't come up until they ripped a few times & because of that I have a nice friction bruise on my leg... I came here because my friend wanted to go get her nails done at her nail salon and she enjoyed it. I wanted a pedicure and full set, and not knowing I was Vietnamese, I heard them talking about me and my choice in what I'm getting and teasing me. So I carried on, not really caring as long as they did a good job. I got a good job done on my toes, but once it got to my nails, my cuticles were bleeding and as my nails were drying, there were some other customers there, as well and almost all of the workers started to pack up and were getting ready to go an hour before closing time WHILE customers were still there. By far my favorite place to come in Tacoma. I come in at least once a month for month a gel manicure and pedicure and they always take care of my nails with excellent care and time. I always leave extremely happy with my results. The staff is friendly, careful with the sharp tools, and always take their time with the process or really cleaning your nails/taking time to make sure they look perfect. Another review put it perfectly- inconsistent. My first time or two it was pretty good, but lately it's much the same as others have said. Rushed, polish applied so far from the cuticle that it looked old immediately, chipped within days, just not the best quality. I've definitely been other places where they took their time and made it look pristine- and it wasn't trashed a week later. They aren't cheap either. I went here today with my two roommates to celebrate graduation. It was such a nice experience. The interior is beautiful and the view is nice. It was early afternoon on a weekday so we didn't have to wait. We got three pedicures, a manicure, a full set, and an eyebrow waxing. All the services were very quick and we came out happy with each of the outcomes. I thought the pricing was very reasonable. The customer service was very nice. They were very attentive to what we wanted, and the manager was very social and fun to talk to. I was also impressed that they use wristbands to keep track of services and manicurists, rather than yelling in Vietnamese (other languages are not an issue for me, it just kept the environment calm). I am totally recommending this place to my sister and friends. P.S. Parking can be tricky, but not unreasonable, plus that's not their fault. read more

The only place I go for nails anymore. They're efficient, thorough, and always do a great job. Awesome with shellac, great pedis. The owners Cici and Twan are always there and are very friendly. Most of the employees are their family so it's a great environment to be in. Clean, professional, friendly. If you pay in cash instead of using your credit card they give you a discount, and they have an electronic punchcard system so you can earn $$ off of services. This was my first time trying the place and I probably will never go back. My nail tech was blasian I believe, she didn't speak to me, yet I had a full blown convo with the customer next to me. This is definitely the worst fill in I ever gotten. For one it was $17 I probably would have been better off getting a full set. Not very good & expensive! Every time I leave there, I am disappointed and this is the very last time for me. The space is very nice and clean, but the service is just barely passable, they are just almost friendly enough. Nothing special by way of mani/pedis, pretty pathetic cuticle and shaping work, minimal, almost a non massage, sloppy polish. Sloppy, mediocre waxing, not thorough, this actually is the worst wax job of my life. The "extra" pedicures are a complete joke, paid an extra $15 for peppermint pedi and you couldn't even tell it was any different than normal pedi, very disappointed, so much for treating my daughter. Walking into the this place and seeing other reviews I had high expectation. I give this salon 2 stars for a staff who was extremely friendly and the salon itself looked nice. Once I walked out of the salon I noticed my nails had air bubbles and both technicians seemed to get the polish not only on my nails but on the skin around my nails. It was the sloppiest work I've had done. I had to literally go home and repaint my nails. While re painting my nails I noticed cuticle layers still on my nail bed. Then I realized the technician who did my manicure never soaked my hands or pushed my cuticles back. She only clipped what she felt like I guess. read more

I chose La Bella for myself, my mom and my 6 bridesmaids to get mani/pedis the day before my wedding. I picked this place mainly for the location but I didn't realize what a great salon it was. We had our own back room set away from everyone else. They had a table set up in the middle for all of our drinks and snacks (we even got to bring champagne) The owner Tuan was amazing. I went in today for a mani and pedi as La Bella came highly recommended by my sister. I was very disappointed and need another mani and pedi as the ones I received are horrible. My cuticles were not trimmed properly and some of them cut and bleeding while other were just pushed back. My pedi was a little better however my pink and whites have already chipped. Hopefully I am able to find a nail salon tomm to redo my mani and pedi, as my boyfriend and I have our once a month date night on sat. Great customer service on my 1st visit. I went in for a gel polish change and the manicurest trimed up my bad cuticles even thought I was not getting a full manicure. I asked the girls in my bank for a recommendation on a local shop to try and they sent me here, good choice ladies. Worst experience ever! I went in to do a mani and pedi and it's been the worst job ever. To start off the lady who was doing my mani hurt me alot she made one of my fingers bleed because how hard she was pushing my cuticles and I told her that it hurted and that it was bleeding a little but did not understand me. A bit frustrating, then as I'm putting my hands into the UV light my fingers are burning and nail technician proceeds to tell me that I need to put my hand in and I tell her that it's stingy if that's normal again I don't think she understood what I was saying. My fingers hurt because of how rough she was. I pray to God that I don't get an infection or something because she cut me on two my fingers. And the shellac looks horrible, it looks like bloobs on my nails. The pedi was okay not the best. So disappointed. Never going back. I really don't know how this place has some many good reviews. I had to put on Band-Aids because my fingers hurt even to wash my hands it stings so bad. read more

I received a gift certificate here as a birthday gift - and it ended up being the best pedicure I've ever received. The "Winter Pedicure" (mine done well by Nini!) is only $35 and pulls out all the stops - stone massage, paraffin wax, and color. The manicure (only $15) also includes paraffin - and Chang did mine at the same time as the pedicure. All of this happens in the massage chair, which was a great treat. In addition to a great mani/pedi, the folks here were really friendly. Not just "friendly 'cause they have to," - but genuinely friendly to the people they were serving.
