    My wife's virgin drink!

First time to this hide out, glad we stopped by! The venue was hosting Singo Bingo, that was fun, first time for me. The bartender, Bridgette was great! She took our order prepared the drinks as asked HUGE plus. Outside, pizza was prepared as ordered. (Theres a menu but the "Mad Scientist" prepped our pizza as asked.) The bartender also made my wife a beautiful mocktail with an orchid in it. The lighting outside was relaxing and bliss. The scenery was beautiful!

Lovely Sunday afternoon on the patio. Early, so it was quiet. Peaceful. Interesting drinks! The charcuterie board was adjusted for my pescatarian date. The bartender was super pleasant and helpful. Can't wait to come back!

Great Drinks & Ambiance! Can't remember the name of the drink but it was basically a PINK Negroni!

I've heard a great deal about this place and there is no wonder...it's along the Canal (not sure which) but if you like beachy/tropical feel this is it...it has a great patio but I spent time at the bar as the patrons and bartender are as entertaining as any ambience may get be. In any case Tiffany was the bartender at this time and typical to a very talented bartender can tell you more about the liquor to select for your mixed drink (in this case a dirty Martini made with, at Tiffany's recommendation, Citadelle Gin) since I was in the mood for something botanical and it was a great recommendation! The second Martini was made with Aviation Gin which was again recommended by Tiffany as I was looking for a variation from the 1st. Bottom line, a great place for 'gourmet' drinks.

One of the coolest bars in Kemah and it's Not just tiki drinks! Very impressive selection of spirits, plenty of specials and even karaoke! Courtney's service and cocktails were top notch!

I'm very new to the tiki scene, having first discovered how fun the cocktails are at a distillery in San Leon. I'm so glad to have found Coco's, much closer and like the title says--on the canal! I loved being on the deck with my perfect Last Word. When the mosquitoes invited themselves to join, I really enjoyed the live music and air conditioning inside. The free pizza didn't hurt. The bartenders were incredibly knowledgeable, and our tiki favorites were on the menu (unlike another place on NASA that I will never return to).

Coco's is a cute little bar nestled on the canal. They have some pretty nice decor and an excellent outdoor seating area. They also have a small stage where they feature different acts and live music. We came for burlesque night. While I think this venue has great potential - it is a super cute spot - the 'tiki' drinks left us disappointed. We frequent other tiki bars in HTX, like Lei Low and Toasted Coconut, so we were extremely hopeful that this would be a local clear lake tiki option for us. We also are big followers of the Smugglers Cove book and frequent those tiki joints across the US. The drinks at Coco's were not authentic (they didn't even match the menu descriptions - i.e. the mai tai had coconut cream in it....), and not delicious. We tried two different bartenders and the results were equally as disappointing. It's a shame because they have all the right ingredients, i don't know if they need training or if they need to stick to the recipe or what. Anywho, we will probably be back for live entertainment at some point, but we will stick to non-tiki drinks. Parking is very limited, so recommend getting there very early if you're attending an event.

The entrance is so fun and charming. I love how 50s hula music is playing while you enter the bar. The hula girl wallpaper in the bathroom also plays well into the theme. One of my friends was six months pregnant at the time and found the mocktail selection to be really good. We were quite full from dinner but didn't mind the snack offerings. I explained I'm gluten intolerant, and the bartender went through the snack pairings I could have. My drink (Speaky Tiki Old Fashioned) came with the rice, and it was so, so good. We actually plan on coming back this weekend, and I'm salivating at the thought of the crispy rice. Don't skip out on this place! It's one of the best speakeasies I've been to.

I mean what better place for a tiki bar than a beach town? The drinks menu is as extensive as DTO. They've got the tiki standards, Zombie and Painkiller as well as a slew of others. The Kumquat Tot is hands down my favorite. Kumquat, gin, mint, and a few other choice ingredients make this one of the most unique and refreshing cocktails I've ever had. Drinks are served in classic tiki glassware. I dig the vibe here real hard. It's rad. Decor is thatched walls, huts, voodoo, fire, and skulls. Mood lighting enhances the overall theme. The bartenders and servers are super cool. Visiting once just wasn't enough. In the words of The Terminator, "I'll Be Back".

I'm all about tropical vibes so we made our way over for a nightcap. Located in a shopping center, parking won't be a problem. We were there pretty late on a Thursday night. Ambiance (4/5): Tiki bars are all about ambiance. Hawaii vibes. What's cool about The Great Kanakas Atomic Tiki Bar, outside of their excellent name, is that they're indoors but the bar makes you feel like you're actually outside. I liked the concept. Relaxed with the vibes you would expect at a tiki bar. Service (4.5/5): We sat at the bar and our bartender was attentive and friendly. She even recommended an off-the-menu drink that other folks like which was a nice touch. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet so I'm not even sure if they have food. Drinks (4/5): When you're at a tiki bar, you're looking for a creative mix of flavors with a nice presentation. I went with a cocktail with such a cool name that I couldn't say no. You'll know it when you see the menu. It's a long name, sounds very Hawaiian, and you'll have difficulty pronouncing it. You'll get a kick out of it. While the drink were solid, I've seen more elaborate tiki drinks elsewhere. I'm talking the type where fire is evolved or fancy garnishes. Overall: Clear Lake surprisingly has quite a few cool bars. This is one of them.

Perhaps it gets more interesting when it gets busier later at night, and sitting on the patio might be nice when the weather is cooler. I'm a Tiki Geek so any chance I have to hit a new (for me) tiki bar and down a delicious tropical cocktail, I jump on it. Signage outside isn't obvious but once you step inside, you're transported to a little slice of paradise. Service was fantastic...the bartender (Jonathan) was very helpful guiding me towards what to try and gave me some Lei Low swag, too. The fellow seated at the bar next to me turned out to be the owner, Russell Thoede, who was very nice and we engaged in a nice chat about California tiki bars many of which he has visited. The drinks I had were fantastic; Donn's Original Zombie ($18) and Ground Control ($17) and stack right up there with the best we have here in California. The inside looks like a slightly tiki-themed restaurant and I was a little let down by the lack of the typical tiki themed booths, decorations and bamboo/wood trim. The service was great, the food came out fast and overall it was a great experience!

When we went, it wasn't at capacity and we were able to stay for a few hours. If you make a reservation online, you have to give your credit card info. It's a $25 charge if you cancel within 24 hours. If you don't want to make a reservation, they recommend visiting on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Sundays. Ring the doorbell for entry. If they don't answer immediately, it's most likely because the hostess is seating another guest. I can't remember the hostess's name, but she was so nice and a super cool gal. The vibe is really cool, weird, bizarre, and trippy. We received a welcome drink which was some sort of rum tea. One of the bartenders came over and explained the menu. They have a lot of drinks to choose from and each drink has a story. The drinks are very unique and come with a nice presentation. I really enjoyed the Bitter Bird. Some of our friends joined us later on in the evening and the hostess moved us to a larger table. There were more people than we were expecting, but the staff did a great job of accommodating us. We ordered a massive drink meant for 4-6 people and it was boozy. You know you're in for a treat when you visit a place that describes itself as "somewhere between death and vacation." We were never checked on, any time we needed something (like a drink) we had to flag someone down. Even to pay the bill we had to go through 3 people to track down whoever was supposed to be our server.
