Thank you for my first experience today. We ordered two burritos and the ingredients tasted fresh. The woman behind the counter was kind and very busy. The fries here are absolutely delicious and I'm sorry that I opted for the salad as it did leave some to be desired. I do wish we would have some salsa options with our meal. I did receive a verde sauce when I asked. The horchata here is lovely as it was very sweet. It did have a chalky like taste towards the middle. The flavor was on point. My burrito I had asked with black beans and in default I was told it comes with pinto beans. It was a huge disappointment as this type of bean doesn't agree with my stomach. Overall, I would return if I'm in the area again. I do wish we just had some more sauce options. The inside is very festive with decor. The menu is very expensive with a lot to choose from. I noticed this was one of the busiest restaurants on the strip. read more

Got a chance to try Coco at the food market fair yesterday. They were one of the vendors at the fair. Due to this, options were limited. They had tacos, flaunts, & quesadillas as an option. We tried to go into the actual restaurant to order from their regular menu but it was packed. No worries I saw the quesadilla and immediately knew I had to order it. Found seating at the nearby park. It was so good! Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely check out their indoor seating. So delicious and fair pricing! read more

3.5 Returned yesterday during the Sleepy Hollow Street Fair, which was very popular and crowded. Other eateries had lines outside which was the same for Coco Taqueria. Coco had a stand outside but had a limited menu so decided to order inside. Printed menus now, no longer posted on the wall. It is a small place so was packed, also with people standing waiting for their order. I saw at least 10 tickets but also saw a lot of ready containers, but only one person sorting and bagging them. They should have anticipated that it would be busy and could have given him a partner. Instead, the cashier had to help clear the tickets so she had to stop taking orders for a good while. I give the staff up front credit bec they worked as fast as they can but didn't seem flustered. Wait time from standing on line to getting our food was at least 45 min. Luckily we got seats while waiting for our order. Chimichanga was crispy by the edges, would have preferred the whole thing to be. Felt the portions were much smaller, less filling than our previous visit. Flavors still good. read more

I ate a gigantic burrito here and it made me happy. Got there before a rush, about 8:15pm....so I timed it right. This burrito was about 10 pounds-packed with everything that could possibly fit inside a giant tortilla. Best thing that happened to me today. Small place with a few tables-2 TV's doing at the same time.... so a little noisy... but whatever. Good food!! FYI-Parking can be challenging. read more

I really loved my lunch here the other day. We were in search of some good Mexican food and we found some! I'm always a sucker for a fried tortilla bowl so when I saw it on the menu I knew I needed to have it. We ordered the chorizo taco bowl and it was so so good. The fillings were perfection and the bowl was almost perfect! It was either a little over cooked or needed an oil change but overall it was great. We also ordered shrimp and chicken tacos. They were also both really good with a lot of meat. I'd love to see some additional toppings but what they had was good. We also ordered chips and nacho cheese because I never see nacho cheese on menus and needed it! The inside is decorated in all things Coco the movie. It's a medium/smallish restaurant but you could easily fit a group of 6. Our server was friendly. The parking on that street was a bit confusing as there were no meters but they have a sign inside making it easy to realize you need to pay and helps you figure out how which we really appreciated. Stopped by for lunch over the weekend. Ordered some chips and guac (6oz), birria tacos, and Baja fish tacos. The guac was good but they don't give you a lot. The fish tacos were excellent, would come back just for this. The birria tacos had great flavor but some bites were extremely fatty and impossible to chewy through. Had a hard time eating those, probably wouldn't get them again. Service was good (fast) but not friendly. The vibes of the restaurant are funny and you will see what I mean once you eat here. Extremely colorful decor and seems like it's based off a cartoon movie. read more

Of the 4 hyped Mexican places in town, Coco was the last one I had to try. Located on Beekman, it's more on the casual/takeout-oriented side versus the other 3 (Taco Club, Taco Project, La Perla Poblanita). I've driven by it a few times, and between not being to eat there with my son sleeping and being beat from a long day, I ordered delivery like I had from the others. My delivery experience was pretty bad. I ordered on Seamless without realizing that they use some 3rd party delivery people who don't integrate with Seamless. The result was no visibility into timing for the food. To make a long story short, the delivery driver showed up 40min past the end of the delivery window and then made me walk down my driveway to get the food. Guy wasn't the least bit apologetic and seemed pissed that I was happy. I had called the restaurant earlier to check on the food, and they were surprised as they said they sent the food out 20min ago; not sure why they have some random guy doing their deliveries versus a profession, however I'd strongly recommend they change that. As for the food, it was mostly cold but still edible. Quesa birria tacos were pretty good themselves, although the broth was on the bland side versus the more rich broths I am used to. It was very reliant on onions for flavor. Guacamole was really good although a bit heavy on the cilantro. My wife liked her tacos (steak, chicken, brussel sprouts) but also did not rave about them. All in all the food was fine but not world beating (heating aside). Prices were pretty good though, and it's nice that you can pick 1 taco at a time instead of getting 2-3 of the same kind. I am being a bit nice with the rating here given my issues, however I don't want to trash this place because of 1 jerk. Would try this place again for take out only, however with the interesting litany of Mexican options in town, I don't know when I would to be honest. Still might be worth a try if you're nearby often. read more

Walked in for lunch after the remodeling they did at Coco. I asked the young woman at the counter if it was ok to order at this time and took a glance at the menu. She left went in back where I can see them standing chatting and laughing looking at me wait while they ignored me and continued after I waved at them and turned around to not come out and take my order. Very disappointing- I even called someone to ask if they had wanted me to pick something up for them and they stated they don't eat here anymore, no thanks. I left and got lunch elsewhere, after this I don't think I will bother again. Employment is a blessing and Business owners work hard to build something they dream of, they should take more pride in service and etiquette. read more

The tostadas are fantastic!!! I don't think they are the menu but ask and ye shall receive! They were $5 each and two were more than enough. They give you a green sauce with it; it's not spicy, kind of tastes like cilantro and is delicious. We also had a small chicken and tortilla soup, also delicious! The horchata for $2 also really good. Essentially everything was DELICIOUS. Too bad I don't live closer! read more

This place was great! The guys working at the counter were very nice, the prices were really good, and my food was ready more quickly than promised. The Baja fish taco was HUGE, but unfortunately the fried fish they used was too reminiscent of Gorton's. That aside, everything else seemed to be fresh and/or homemade, from the tortillas, to the various sauces, to the birria tacos, which were the best I've had, in my limited experiences with them. The beef empanada was delicious as well, as was my complimentary slice of tres leches cake. Glad I randomly tried it out, and will definitely be back. read more

My favorite type of Mexican food usually comes from hole in the wall type places like this. I must say, their tacos were some of the best I've had and I'd say even rivaled the great tacos I enjoyed while on vacation in souther California. The big hit was the birria taco. I wanted to drink the sauce that it's served with to dip in. The cool thing about their tacos is that each one is unique. It's not just the same taco with a different protein like other places might do. Prices are more than fair. If you are in the area and craving tacos, this is a must-try. read more

Amazing! Did not expect to visit New York and find some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! Enchiladas are my favorite and every new restaurant I try, I always get it; these are likely the best I've ever had! So much depth and flavor. I came here with my parents and my brother and we ordered something insane like 28 tacos and they were ready and hot in about 15 minutes. My brother got two orders of nachos cause his kids love nachos and he seemingly at all of them, I can't comment on said nachos as I don't eat cheese, but his kids did clean the plate and that's always a win. read more

I first tried this place about a year ago, I was in search of tasty Mexican spot that didn't require a long commute and came across this gem. Their birria taco is delicious, the meat is tender and the cheese is melted to perfection. The consome is topped off with cilantro and diced onion and each time I dip my birria taco in it, every bite is better than the last! My next favorite taco is the Baja fish taco. The cod fish is lightly battered and I love the crunch. I really enjoy the taste of the chipotle Mayo which they generously spread over top! I have yet to try their platters, I'm looking forward to trying their mole! read more

Their food is great, their delivery is not. Every time it takes more than an hour for the food arrive, never at the quoted time frame.

SO good. It's a little divey hole-in-the wall place so I had a good feeling when I went to pick up my takeout (usually those places have the best Mexican food). I got a Horchata and a pork bowl. A couple of the carnitas pieces were a little fatty but the majority of it was tasty, tender, and well seasoned. Beans were delicious, and pico de gallo and guac were fresh. Better than the more well-known Taco Project a block over. My takeout order was ready in less than 10 mins. Would definitely stop by here again. read more

My sisters and I searched the area for the perfect empanada to serve as an appetizer at my daughter's wedding reception and found it here at Coco Toqueria. They were the perfect size: not meal-size-big and not one-bite-mini. They delivered the empanadas hot to the reception hall and we served them during the cocktail hour.
