As a Hair Loss Practitioner Tara is able to identify, prevent, and treat various hair loss issues, which is beneficial when installing any form of hair style. We settled on smaller locs due to some scalp alopecia she noticed in the crown of my head. And this was the size I was considering prior to my visit. Four hours later, and my loc journey was underway. I was thrilled with the work Tara had done and excited to have such a positive experience as I started on this expedition. Anywho, I had contacted another stylist from StyleSeat and she gave me the run around. But when I called Tiana she seemed genuinely excited to speak to me regarding my hair care needs. While, I couldn't get my hair styled as soon as I wanted, I canceled another appointment with a stylist in Baltimore because I was tired of commuting just to get my hair done. So, I walked around for a week looking like a raggamuffin. But, it was well worth the wait. Ms. Tiana, greeted me when I walked in to the salon. I sat right in her chair, even though she was servicing 2 other clients when I got there. We discussed the state of my hair, she treated it, trimmed the ends (NOT CUT), and she proceeded with styling. She gave me some tips on what I should do to help with my hair type. I knew that she wasn't just a stylist that wanted her next payday. She was concerned with the health of my hair. Not to mention, she is pretty fast. Her other 2 clients were up and out before I could blink. I will be returning on a regular basis. I finally found my hair soul mate!!!

I have met some amazing women and every time I'm there I get to witness another woman or young lady say how much their hair experience rejuvenated them and how we feel like new women. So I went to the salon hoping she would be available. However, I was informed that she was off that day, but never received a response from Ella via phone. So I asked if any other stylists knew how to do short hair and if an appt was available today or if a walk-in was available now. Stylist Nikki had an opening later that afternoon. So, I left and returned for the scheduled appointment. My hair was not touched until 30 minutes after my appointment which was a negative sign for me because I am not use to waiting 30 minutes with an appt (15 min is understandable, maybe even 20 if it is not the norm and previous experience shows this does not happen often). I sat for a very long time at the wash bowl, maybe an additional 40 to 50 minutes... not because the conditioner was not ready to be washed out, but because she was still working on a client's hair. My hair normally air dries within 5 minutes and 15 to 20 minutes when mousse is used and I have to go under the dryer. However, I was left under the dryer for 1 hr and then was told to stay under the dryer for another 20min... again not because my hair was not dry, but because the stylist was still working on the same client's hair. This is what stylists tell clients when they are behind schedule. They make it seem like you need more time under the dryer or need to let a conditioner sit longer instead of admitting that they overbooked appts. Since my hair was dry, I lifted the dryer (refusing to continue to play the waiting game) and informed the stylist who confirmed it was dry. I tried to be understandable because my appt was made the same day, but the waiting game was ridiculous. The stylist could have said she has an opening, but there would be a wait or she could have said I do not have an opening today. I was extremely disappointed with the time it took from the beginning of my appt until the end. Women who choose to spend an entire day in the salon don't mind dealing with this type of experience, but I have never and will never accept this type of experience from a professional licensed stylist. Two stylists continued to drop combs on the floor and I watched them pick it up and reuse it without washing it off smh The price for a shampoo, curl, and cut was $65. I have short hair. So the cut was just to keep the hair off of my ears and neck to keep the short look that I like... the curls lasted for a few hours smh So my visit was a waste of time and money. Also, the stylists never engaged in any conversation with me which is not something that I'm use to. All she wanted to know is will I be booking another appt, which I declined to do so...
