The shop itself is charming, and the team was exceptionally polite and genuinely friendly. Their merchandise is creative and thoughtfully curated, with a nice variety of unique items that made browsing really fun. Prices felt reasonable for the quality and originality you're getting. What I loved most was the positive energy throughout the store. One of the employees shared a sweet piece of advice that stuck with me: "Believe me, my friend. when you're my age, you'll do everything you can to make your day and truly enjoy it." On every Hawaii visit we stop by CocoNene for some handcrafted souvenirs made by local artists! Last time we picked up the customized photo frame with the small designs to add to the base plate. This time we picked up luggage tags, hibiscus coaster, cards, and stickers. Everything is reasonably priced and I love the vibrant colors! We originally learned about CocoNene when we found ornaments from them on the Big Island. We love the style and whimsy of all their pieces and that they support artists to create all the fun things they offer. The staff was friendly, but not overly salesy or pushy like some of the other stores we visited. We felt welcomed and in no rush as we browsed and enjoyed all the amazing pieces. They have art, photo frames, clocks, customizable pieces, ornaments, stickers and more. All of them have bright colors and we found ourselves smiling the whole time we were browsing. This is a perfect spot to find a memento or a gift for someone back home. Most of the pieces they offer are wood, but they all feel sturdy and high quality. Of course the prices match this- while they're not outrageous you'll definitely want to be careful about wanting one of everything- it can add up. Love this store so much! read more

Everything they have is sooo cute! My family gets a souvenir from CocoNene on each recent trip we've visited since we found out about this place. We've been to the one near Disney Aulani and this location in the International Market and it's always so hard to decide what to get! We have a name display and a couple frames. Absolutely loved this store! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Some items can be a bit pricey but it's worth it knowing that all of their products are made in Hawaii by local artists. You can find things like artwork, coasters, ornaments, longboard art, picture frames, and so much more. I love that most of their products are customizable. We walked by this spot multiple times and finally stopped inside to get a Christmas ornament and personalize it with some add-on stickers! They had a lot of Christmas stuff but also just regular personalized decor and gifts. This is a great shop to get gifts and nice souvenirs. I wanted to buy so many things! It's pricey but everything is nice quality and seems like it will last a long time. read more

Love the individual pieces you can choose to create your work of art. The store is bright and cheerful and the staff are there to assist you. I recommend taking a base to start and then creating your work of art by selecting different pieces. Have to warn you, you'll be in the store for awhile because there is so much to choose from. It's not every day that I walk into a store and literally don't want to leave, but that's exactly what happened here. LOCATION & DECOR: Inside of the mall right off of kalakua near the Royal Hawaiian on the second floor. Laser cut and painted wood art. Just the treasure trove of aesthetically pleasing viewables and souvenirs to take home. PRICE:$$ You'll spend a little bit in this place. $18 for just the stand for a custom photo stand and the additional pieces range from$6 dollars for a small monsterra leaf and $18 for a background piece. Coasters at $10 a piece. Larger photos $30-50. SWAG: Picture frames, magnets, cell phone and iPad holders, wall art, photo stands, coasters, keychains, etc. STAFF & EXPERIENCE: Staff here was super friendly and available, but not pushy or lingering. This place is full of inspiration especially for creatives and artists. This place supports local artists which builds three local community and gives art an authenticity that you can't find everywhere especially in the states. First time I stepped in there I wasn't able to see all that I wanted to see and do all that I wanted to do because I had a time constraint, but I've come back to buy up way too much or at least more than I can reasonably fit in my check-in baggage. Dani was amazing. Stopped by out of curiosity since I've never heard of CocoNene. Dani welcomed my fiancé and I and told us a little bit about the company. Her energy was amazing. I appreciate her customer service so much. We put together a keepsake since we got engaged on our trip. We shared with her how we just got engaged and showed her the video and it was really sweet how she cared and loved it. Keep in mind we only knew Dani for like 5 mins at this point and she made it feel like we were all family. The hospitality was truly beautiful. What a fun shop and concept! This is a great place for custom souvenirs and super cute gifts. What we thought was just going to be a quick window shop ended up being almost an hour (or maybe more!) of creative fun. Highly recommend if you are looking for a really special, highly personalized gift and want to support local. Dani was a GEM and helped us get so creative with our pieces. "A woman can never have enough shoes" - Kajal Aggarwal After a recent dine at a nearby restaurant in Waikīkī, my friends and I were roaming in the International Marketplace when I was drawn to this store thinking I'd get another pair of "slippahs" because mine recently bit the dust. But, boy, oh boy... I was surprised that there were NO slippers or sandals in here but instead there was a lot of cool art featuring local artists. Upon entry, Dolly, the sales representative greeted us with a grand smile and positive Aloha Spirit. I quickly asked..."where are the shoes, sandals or slippers?" Dolly pointed out the store founders' timeline and confirmed that this store started as an art & framing business (Pictures Plus) then branched out to Island Sole lifestyle stores and then finally opened this store which is an entire store of "Made in Hawai'i" products. We browsed the locally designed products which included cut wood alphabets or signs, water color paintings or prints, reusable water bottles, picture frames and some t-shirts. While our friends were browsing on one side of the store, we came across 2 souvenirs that matched their personalities and love for our island life. I stealthily chose the gifts and Dolly quickly processed and wrapped the purchases while my husband distracted our friends. Prices are reasonable for the fun, interesting and locally designed and made souvenirs. Many are functional and can be used in daily living so they're not going to become dust collectors. We came into the store earlier on our trip, and I love the concept! Supporting local artists, offering things that are customizable, even the experience of making the product is fun! Our preschooler had the best time just building different scenes with the pieces offered. We didn't buy anything when we visited on the first day of our trip because I wanted to create a board with pieces that related to memories we made on the trip. We rushed back after dinner on our last night, and the process took us so much longer than we thought because the possibilities are endless! The examples around the store and other customers' creations serve as awesome inspiration, and the staff were so helpful in giving us tips, such as sliding pieces in between slots to create more layers if we needed the room. In terms of selection, we were only disappointed that for the people pieces, they had a boy and a girl, but not of different ages, or a baby to represent our infant on the trip. My husband asked and they confirmed they did not have these options for the board, but that they had a younger little boy wooden sticker. Jackpot! We were then able to have each of our family represented on the board. We ended up getting some other stickers too to add to our board, like having a sun up next to the palm trees, and having the boys next to a pineapple, and having one of us "hold" a spam musubi. A great memory we had during the trip was seeing triggerfish on a glass bottom boat tour and struggling to pronounce "humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa", and we wanted a fish for the board. But the one they had was a little too big for our preference, so instead we got the sticker version which was smaller. Pro tip to not sleep on incorporating the sticker options - there are so many cute ones! The whole thing ended up being really expensive for what it is (we had some sticker shock at check out!!) but the store is very upfront with pricing, and every piece is clearly labeled with a price. It's just that all the pieces easily add up and before you know it, you're spending over $100 for a sign haha. But it is our family's main souvenir from this trip, and we enjoyed putting it together. We think it's great that local artists are featured, and the place is welcoming and clean. And best of all are the staff - everyone we interacted with was so incredibly nice and helpful, and we were *those* customers who stayed later past closing hustling to finish our piece before flying home the next morning. Our preschooler also took out a lot of pieces to build with and I kept putting them away to minimize the mess. Thankfully, the people working were beyond nice about all of this - we're so grateful! One was named Dani, and the other one had a "Coco" name tag but she was a trainee and didn't have her own name tag. Thanks so much to both of you! read more
