Happened upon Coconut Bay by sheer chance today, which was completely serendipitous! Leslie and D.W. run a very interesting and unique shop. They recently moved back to the area from Hilo, Hawaii. They were a pleasure to talk with! Some antique shops are unorganized and overwhelming. This shop is organized yet warm and inviting. There are still nooks and crannies to be explored like most antique shops, but it is really well edited and everything is displayed with care. The antiques were all shipped from Hawaii. They have a lot of ethnic items from Asia and the Pacific. Some of the items are on the higher end, but there is definitely something for everyone! I found a fun little mirror and when Leslie rang it up she let me know everything was discounted today! So, I asked about another piece and D.W. was pretty fair and easy going about me haggling for the price! Which is great when a shop is not too firm. Coconut bay was one of the places I had to visit based off yelp reviews. Sharon from the tea shop put it best: organized chaos. You walk in and there's bookshelves and glasses cases of stuff from all over the world. There's tons to look at and the best part? They're willing to haggle on prices! The owner explained that they moved inland from Hawaii, but are trying to sell everything so they can retire in Florida. His wife used to be part of peter Jennings camera crew so she spent months abroad accumulating all this stuff, but now they're selling everything so most of their stuff is negotiable; though lots of it has a red dot which automatically makes it 50% off! This place is exceptional. Hubby and I could have stayed for hours. They have everything and anything. Such nice couple to speak with. Beautiful jewelry, lots of Asian things. Very eclectic. We made room for 4 new items to be displayed in the empty spots we made. They are great with pricing. Defiinitly a must see. read more

I told my husband if he wants a "get out of jail free card," he needs to go to Coconut Bay Trading Company in Berlin! Wow, what a wonderful store! The owners were very helpful and knowledgeable about their collection. I'm not a big jewelry person, but I came out of the store with a wonderfully unique pendant that I absolutely love.
