The unreliability makes it completely useless if you actually need to get to work or an appointment on time.Always Late: The promised "every few minutes" schedule is a joke. Expect to wait 10+ minutes on a packed platform just for a single car to roll by.Useless Tech: The digital arrival screens are completely inaccurate. They will say a train is 1 minute away for 15 minutes straight.Constant Outages: It feels like the entire loop is constantly out of service or suffering from technical glitches. The frequent weekend and morning closures for system upgrades have made it entirely dependable on failing.It's an embarrassment to Miami-Dade transit. Skip it unless you have hours of free time to waste standing around a station.

The Metrorail comes in here but over the last thirty years as the City of Miami has evolved so has their central station. Years ago it was Government Center and I would connect to the metro mover. Now as Downtown has changed this truly is the main station. I come into here from Miami Airport to get to Downtown. Also it backs up into Brightline which is around the corner literally steps away. Lastly all the City buses come through here around the building there is a place a block up for the buses that go 595, in front of the building is buses going every ten minutes or so to the Golden Glades than a few steps from that at the side entrance to Metrorail is the 95 express buses. This place is literally a pu pu platter for all your transportation needs in and out of the City of Miami. I highly recommend it as parking is getting increasingly harder to find as well as expensive. You can get monthly passes which make it even more affordable if you come here daily as I do. Also across the way is a brand new Einstein's for a quick morning bite. It is very well lite in the area so don't let the name Overtown fool you it seems very safe. So far so good.

Prior to Uber and being able to drive Metrorail was how I got around!…read more The reason this review is four stars is because transit in Miami is not yet the best organized and you have to leave either two hours earlier or deal with heat and other inconvenience of being in public transit. Like any big city, you do need to use your common sense when taking the train. Still and all, with the growth Miami has experienced in the last few years, it is certainly getting better. There are a nice amount of apartments, bars, restaurants and shops right next to the Brickell stop. The Brickell station also connects to the Metromover, which puts downtown and the Edgewater area a short ride and definitely cheaper than an rideshare. Walk a few blocks down the Underline Park under the tracks, and you're in the Coral Way / Roads area as well. Case in point, this last Friday night I was able to enjoy my Elite Experience Burger at Burgermeister (2 blocks away), run an errand on Coral Way and jump on the Metrorail (30 minute wait at that time) to the station closest my house and uber over. Glad to see this growth in multimodal transportation for our city.

There's a lounge, priority boarding, free food and drinks, comfortable seating onboard, fast-speed wifi, For that, it's convenient to take a train for a little over 3 hours (Miami-Orlando) vs flying. My most recent visit to Brightline Station in Aventura, I was catching a shuttle to go to Hard Rock Stadium aka Miami Stadium for the World Cup. There were two lines. The staff at my line took forever to scan people's tickets that the other line already filled 2 buses! And they were people at the back of the line! There was no shade, no water. Just free alcoholic beverages you have to post on social media. You have to pay for water, sunscreen - basic things they give away for free at other transportation stations in cities that hosted the World Cup! I anticipated you can't catch an Uber from this station after the game. I was right. But the cops were on a total power trip yelling at people "you can't get Uber here!" And the crowd was yelling back at the cops - what a hot mess! The crowd was just walking away from the station so, how did the cops even assume they got Uber?!? LOL.

Issues / technical difficulties forcing single tracks with massive delays and inconveniences on a far too frequent basis. Third world country train service; Miami deserves much better. But it is very similar to what other cities call Subway. I guess since Miami can not run much underground construction, the MetroRail is all above ground. The one way ticket is $2.25, but you can get a full day pass for $5.65, which allows for unlimited transfers between metrorail and buses for one full day...if you get a $2.25 ticket, you will have to pay another $2.25 when you transfer. We loved how clean the trains were, the AC was working very well when we got on. We were even a bit cold inside the train. The signage on approaching stations is very good and the maps and routes printed on the inside of the trains are very useful. The Metrorail offers one easy ride to get you where you need to go. Be from Downtown Miami and Brickell to Coconut Grove and South Miami as well as a quick trip to the airport. There are two distinct rail lines that depart from the Dadeland South station on US1. The Orange line ends at Miami International Airport and back. The Green line runs further up north with connections to the Tri-rail and Virgin MiamiCentral. There are stops along each route at many of Miami's top attractions such as Coconut Grove, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Brickell, the Lyric Theater, Hialeah and more. Metrorail opened in 1984 and it is Florida's only rapid transit metro system. It is composed of two lines of 23 stations on 24.4 miles of track. Metrorail serves the urban core of Miami, connecting Miami International Airport, the Health District, Downtown Miami, and Brickell with the northern developed neighborhoods of Hialeah and Medley to the northwest, and to suburban The Roads, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami, ending at urban Dadeland in Kendall. Metrorail connects to the free Metromover in Downtown, which provides metro service to the entirety of Downtown and Brickell area.
