It does lose a star for the constant problem (across MetroRail stations) that the machines don't take a variety of debit/credit cards. Otherwise, it's positive that it's so well integrated within its urban environment, with bus stops and a nearby vehicular parking garage. As usual, there's typical anxiety if the train is coming, the trains don't run late enough, and it is so absurd that you have to tap your ticket/card to leave the station - what kind of regressive, criminalization of transit usage is that!? Absolutely needs to be changed. ALL THAT SAID, it's such a net positive to have rail options (with signage and audio message in three (3!) languages) in this urban-surburban-car-dominated-megaopolis - and I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations (better than this) to make it better.

I've always been pretty intimidated to try this and since I love to walk I never find the point on hopping on but I was pleasantly surprised by how fun, easy, safe and efficient the entire experience was! Like any big city, you do need to use your common sense when taking the train. Still and all, with the growth Miami has experienced in the last few years, it is certainly getting better. There are a nice amount of apartments, bars, restaurants and shops right next to the Brickell stop. The Brickell station also connects to the Metromover, which puts downtown and the Edgewater area a short ride and definitely cheaper than an rideshare. Walk a few blocks down the Underline Park under the tracks, and you're in the Coral Way / Roads area as well. Case in point, this last Friday night I was able to enjoy my Elite Experience Burger at Burgermeister (2 blocks away), run an errand on Coral Way and jump on the Metrorail (30 minute wait at that time) to the station closest my house and uber over. Glad to see this growth in multimodal transportation for our city.

There is a ticket station with a real person there sometimes, and bathrooms that are not terrible. It's easy to get dropped off here. The vending machines have airport type items. I have recently learned that the best way to get a Lyft/uber ride from this station is to go to the opposite side of the station where the greyhound is and wait there, rather than catching a ride from the airport transportation center, where it takes forever for rides to come, and last time they kept getting cancelled and it was awful The train is never very full on the end of the train, and since this is the end of the line, you can have first pick. Usually when I arrive here, the train is parked, with a/c on, and open to the public to board way ahead of time, which is preferable to standing outside.

It has a creative architectural design that makes it more pleasant to not only look at, but inhabit and circulate. My standard critiques that the station and rail lines were evidently contemplated to build upon the locational efficiencies next to the freeway exist, but at least in addition to facing a (too) massive surface vehicular parking lot, it's design is carried through to the bus stops and on the other façade, faces mid-size office buildings within nearby walking distance that it proves its utility in its immediate context. Otherwise, it is unfortunate that this station is disconnected from the more walkable areas of Oakland Park/Wilton Manors, thus relying more on automotive transportation for the "last mile" travel - again, partially but proactively made-up for with the bus/public transit integration by the cities and County. I must continue to emphasize as with other Tri-Rail stations, there's not enough benches nor trash cans. There's also the standard anxiety if the train is coming, if you're on the right platform, the trains don't run late enough. But I must say in sum, it's such a net positive to have rail options (with signage and audio message in three (3!) languages) in this urban-suburban-car-dominated-megalopolis. I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations like this to make it better.

The one way ticket is $2.25, but you can get a full day pass for $5.65, which allows for unlimited transfers between metrorail and buses for one full day...if you get a $2.25 ticket, you will have to pay another $2.25 when you transfer. We loved how clean the trains were, the AC was working very well when we got on. We were even a bit cold inside the train. The signage on approaching stations is very good and the maps and routes printed on the inside of the trains are very useful. The Metrorail offers one easy ride to get you where you need to go. Be from Downtown Miami and Brickell to Coconut Grove and South Miami as well as a quick trip to the airport. There are two distinct rail lines that depart from the Dadeland South station on US1. The Orange line ends at Miami International Airport and back. The Green line runs further up north with connections to the Tri-rail and Virgin MiamiCentral. There are stops along each route at many of Miami's top attractions such as Coconut Grove, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Brickell, the Lyric Theater, Hialeah and more. Metrorail opened in 1984 and it is Florida's only rapid transit metro system. It is composed of two lines of 23 stations on 24.4 miles of track. Metrorail serves the urban core of Miami, connecting Miami International Airport, the Health District, Downtown Miami, and Brickell with the northern developed neighborhoods of Hialeah and Medley to the northwest, and to suburban The Roads, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami, ending at urban Dadeland in Kendall. Metrorail connects to the free Metromover in Downtown, which provides metro service to the entirety of Downtown and Brickell area. Additionally, it connects to South Florida's commuter rail system at Tri-Rail station, as well as Metrobus routes at all stations. In 2021, the system had 9,708,200 rides.

If airports are elegant chaos, Brightline is... well, a well-intentioned chaos with a touch too much flair. The smell? Oh boy. I don't know if they're going for "fresh" or "citrusy," but it hits you like a scent bomb that's somehow both overwhelming and... confusing? I'm not sure whether I'm in a train station or a high-end cleaning product store. Bathrooms? Peak. They were actually the highlight--clean, functional, and definitely the only place where I felt my dignity was intact. But when you have to do your business on a train with moving bathrooms, it adds a level of adventure I didn't ask for. The whole "swaying while you use the necessary " thing is a unique thrill, though. The store? Closed early the morning Now, let's talk about the train itself--big, comfy, and pretty solid for a ride. The seats are spacious, and the vibe is more "luxurious commuter" than "who's-holding-my-seat" chaos. Would I return? Well, I guess. The train's solid, and the station's got character... even if that character is a bit much. But hey, it's an experience, and sometimes you have to embrace the madness.
