First of all, location: Center Street Mercantile is not on Center Street anymore - it's on Block Street in the same shopping center as Little Bread and Dark Star. It's a welcome change, much easier to get to with a better parking situation. parking nearby is paid during weekdays, but it's free nights and evenings. There are coin meters and you can get more than an hour of time with $0.25. Second, the goods: Nice variety here of party food, decorative bowls, jewelry, local carvings... Good hodgepodge of things. You'll pay more here than at a big-box store but the goods are fairly priced. They also have a farm fresh eggs sometimes! Third, the candles: Yes, the candles get their own category. The owner of the store has a collection of candles he has made that are scented like different hot spots in Northwest Arkansas - Majestic Lounge, Common Grounds (RIP), Thorncrown Chapel, the ballpark... and they really capture the scent of each of these places! I would buy the entire collection if I had the money, but I do have four of them. Fourth, the owner: SUPER nice! He's always been super friendly when I am in the store but he doesn't look over your shoulder while you're shopping. He's really knowledgeable about everything in the shop. The store is generally open Tuesday through Saturday, but I was super thrilled it was open on a Sunday for the Christmas season and I definitely spent my money there today. I buy tons of stuff from Hobby Lobby. I'm sorry to say they are going down hill. I bought a huge…read morepile of things for my wedding and had a few items to return. It was horrible! I had no idea until I made the returns that Hobby Lobby doesn't put an item number on their receipts. My fiance, a clerk, a store manager, and myself had to search my huge pile of receipts trying to find which item went with what receipt. It was very stressful with people lined up behind us. What an archaic process. Over the last two years I have turned in four rain checks and Hobby Lobby always says they will call when the item will come in. Guess what, they never call me. I always wait past the date (they say it would arrive when I turned in my rain check) to call them and inquire about the status. They say, "Yes, we received it." I'm thinking, "Why didn't you call like you said you would?" One of the rain checks I turned in was misplaced but I was later told it was in the back order pile. How is that misplaced and why wouldn't you check the back order pile when I inquire? Then another rain check I submitted was a large, large order and when I called the day they said it would arrive, I was told all the items were in. So I drove to the store and when I got there, they said they couldn't find some of the items. I said, "How do you loose things in less than an hour?" A little over an hour after leaving the store, they call me and tell me they found the missing items. It's sad, this used to be my favorite store and I dread buying things there now. Hobby Lobby is my last resort now and not the first store I'll go to. It's definitely not my favorite store anymore. My daughter has disliked Hobby Lobby for years and I am now disliking it too. Ugh.

The owner was taking in items while we were there from a buyer. The buyers buy direct in Mexico and bring it to the states. They were even handmaking some of the items while we were there. This is a really beautiful store to even walk through. The price is higher than Mexico but it is all brought to your door so to speak.
