Coda is a toronto fixture for house music and is fairly casual too. The location is on Bathurst just north of Bloor St. on the west side. You can see the lineup outside as security checks you out before you go in. I went one night to see my local celebrity DJ, KTA play a show the night before she attended the Junos with her nomination. It made for a party-like atmosphere with plenty of cheering etc. I didn't know about Coda before going, just bought the ticket online and showed up in shorts and a t-shirt and flip flops without checking for a dress code and luckily looks like there isn't one, whew! The guy in front of me had a backpack and he was getting hassled for that by security as they started getting louder and louder if he wasn't listening and doing that they said. They could have been nicer, but really? bringing a backpack into a club seems like a silly thing to do. It's down into the basement and has decent lighting effects and the sound is dope! The crowd was into dancing and taking selfies too, quite a fun night. I would go again!

    Lots of people, lights, sound.

Hype AF. I had such a great time here. Great sound, friendly door staff (no attitude), open late (till 5am?!). Non-stop bangers all night long. Room for improvement: girl collecting cover says they take credit at the bar (really?) but they in fact don't. Would've pulled more from the ATM had I not been misinformed. I am surprised to have had such a good time. You guys are doing it right. Stay awesome, stay friendly. They had an international DJ (Joris Voorn) the night I went, but I hope being that awesome isn't a special occasion. Can't wait to go back! I hope it's as awesome the next time I go. And the next time. And the next...

The best place for electronic music in Toronto, period. CODA is the new Footwork. It's a place for true electronic music lovers. Here, I've seen and heard names like Josh Wink, Ricardo Villalobos, Adriatique, Sasha, Solomun, Ida Engberg, Adam Beyer, Art Department, Ten Walls and many, many more. The crowd is mature for its age and the vibe is amazing. The electric music culture runs as deep as the owners themselves, one of which plays himself. The staff is very friendly from the security to the bartenders - they treat you like a customer and a human being. If you love electronic music - you should visit CODA.

Such a great nite & a fun experience as my first club in Toronto. Amazing music although it did get crazy hot on the dance floor!

Easily the best nightclub in Toronto. Open layout, good ventilation, and the unpretentious crowd are great touches.

If you decide to visit you will likely be on the second floor. I was able to sneak down and check it out but I didn't fully experience the main part of this establishment. However the decor inside is great and sets a nice vibe. Staff are friendly and there's a lot of selection and they do cater to vegans. Lots of great areas in this space for hanging out or even playing games. The third floor as I found out is for private events and is the top floor of the building. It's a fairly large space so if you are interested in having an event this place could fit the bill. Again some very interesting decor makes the space warm and welcoming. Special secret hint apparently you can also rent out the 3rd floor on Airbnb as well. We found a fully furnished bedroom and of course had to ask what was up with that. If you are looking for a great place to hang that maybe not everyone else has found out about yet this is a pretty good place although the popularity tells me it won't be that unknown for too long.

Love it here! Had our TIFF Hollywood North Launch party here and Diane & Ron were amazing! Bravo!!read more

But that all said, this place impressed me so much I felt it was warranted to provide a review. The Palais Royale has an interesting backstory, going back to the 1930's when it was a concert venue. From those days of Duke Ellington's big band sound, into the 90's and 2000's when this place hosted bands including Blur, Blue Rodeo, and even the Rolling Stones. Admittedly the last time I stepped foot in the place was in the late 90's for a rave. And let me assure you they renovated the heck out of it, and now offers a clean and polished venue for weddings and corporate events. Upon arrival, the couple were having their wedding ceremony on the back patio, which overlooks the lake, with a marina to the east and a beachfront to the west, and a skyline decending down the waterfront. Very picture-esque, and a great backdrop for pictures. They had a large tent to make sure that even if it rained, all would remain as scheduled. After the ceremony they held a cocktail hour outside before ushering everyone inside for the reception. The food was top form. Delicious and well presented. The servers and bartenders were friendly, professional, and attentive. Dancefloor is a good size with good sound and lights, so after the speeches were made everyone was given an opportunity to cut a rug with good results (okay, this part may have had more to do with the crowd in attendance than the venue, but still, a decent dancefloor environment was provided). Honestly, this was the best wedding I've ever been to, and the venue had a lot to do with it. For anyone looking for a review from an average attendee, let this be your stamp of approval that this venue will impress those attending your future events.
