You get to pick the theme for the painting portion. They provide all materials for the kids and set up everything. It doesn't get any easier to be honest. I had no prior experience with Fibo. All I knew is they offered a free class and I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Well, she absolutely LOVED it. She was smiling from ear to ear the entire class. When she finished she came right up to me and asked when she could go again. For my child, FIBO is a perfect fit. However, I think it all depends on your child's personality. Is he/she able to sit and listen for an hour and follow direction? Does he/she have an interest in art and a desire to learn new styles & techniques? This is a true art school, in that your child is learning the foundations, new mediums and art history. This isn't a place for a four year old to "express their creativity". For example, if the project is a brown turkey, every child is learning how to paint a brown turkey.... not a pink, yellow, etc turkey. The tutors also make every effort to talk to every parent as needed so us parents are kept in the loop of their kids' progress. Besides making sure the kids stay on top of all their class work and maintain their grades, The Homework Club also have the kids participate in several fun activities, such as drawings for prizes, skate night, field trips during the summer session, etc! When i signed up, Mr. K told me how great his program was and a bunch of success stories and how my child would be caught up within a few months. He also said how other Kumon's in the area were inferior and how he's the best. He also quoted one price and then upped the price once it was time to pay. The entire time we were there my child did double the work to catch up. But when we were still behind and I questioned this, he responded by saying he never said we'd be caught up by then. That is untrue. He then extended the time needed to catch up. He then had my child repeat entire levels multiple times and said it was necessary. I felt horrible having to put my child through that as it was daunting and unnecessary. When I realized what was happening and I mentioned it he made up some excuses and said if he had given the test more of course my child would have passed. He got upset when I finally started asking questions. He also said other Kumons' hold kids back to make more money. He also refused to show me the progress report of how much my child had to repeat (he keeps a report of all repeats) it was at least 3 times and then he quickly rushed me out. My child never progressed and I spent over $1000 for six months of just doing worksheets that I had to grade. And if I made a mistake he reprimanded me. In retrospect, I realize he made excuses for everything and when I questioned him he would turn it around on me. My child is now doing workbooks at home and is thriving and has progressed much much faster and is proficient under my care. We also did free online flash cards that really helped. The program is only worksheets that you as a parent have to grade. I would stay away from his business. I don't understand how he is so busy being able to open another store on beach and Adam's.

She's always been hesitant to try activities because of her social anxiety, but today I got to see something. She's fully engaged in tricking and had an amazing time. Watching her have fun honestly made me emotional. I'm just so happy we found something she enjoys and feels comfortable doing. Coach Evan made it exciting and approachable for her, and seeing her listen and communicate back is something that's rare. Just a very proud and emotional dad right now.
