I am so happy with every coach we have tried for my daughter she is about 16months & has been swimming here since she turned 1yrs old so not too long, but long enough for both of us to fall in love with this (Swim) school the instructors and the office staff are so helpful , nice , and informative about the program and policies. Even though she is young, I see that they have other programs available as she progresses and advances through her swimming like the swim club, the snorkeling program, and the surfing program. I even took a surf lessons myself with the owner, who is absolutely fantastic. As parents of a child with special needs and medical challenges, finding activities that are both inclusive and supportive of his individual needs can be challenging. Aquatic Explorations has given our son a place where he can participate, learn, grow, and feel included, and we are incredibly grateful to have found them. Our son began his swim journey with Coach Oliver, and we couldn't have asked for a better start. Coach Oliver was calm, patient, and understanding, always meeting our son where he was and allowing him to progress at his own pace. Those first swim experiences were incredibly positive and welcoming and helped build the foundation for the progress we are seeing today. He is now with Coach Jason, and all I can say is WOW! Slowly but surely, we have watched him become more comfortable, confident, and independent in the water. Coach Jason is exactly what he needs. Went in to this location for a swim trial for my 4 year old. We were able to get a reservation within a few days, everyone was really nice. we had Kadie who was super awesome and my daughter felt comfortable especially having the class for the first time. i would def return we really only decided on another location due to location as this was a little out of the way for us and recommended by a family member. showers available multiple bathrooms awards *coins* for kids pricing was great read more

It's been almost a year now, and we are beyond proud of the progress of our boys. We went to 2 previous places prior to coming here and this place is the only place where we have seen major improvements. Prices are reasonable and communication is easy with email and text notifications. Our oldest son is on the spectrum (ASD) and Coach Jason and Coach Nicole have been instrumental to his progress. They are both patient, kind, understanding and will work with the temperament and comfortability of your child. Coach Jason is wonderful at giving clear direct instructions. He has been an instructor for years and is genuinely knowledgeable about what needs improvement. He is also good at challenging our boys and pushes them to do their best. We love the feedback after each session. We are definitely going to continue coming here and hope one day we can do the surf lessons. We are still fairly new to this facility. What can I say. This place is amazing. My boys have Nicole and she is patient and attentive to their needs. My youngest has a few medical issues and when he told her he needed a break she helped him through it. She demonstrated herself to my other son the correct way of doing things. Such an amazing swim school!! Our kids used to go to the YMCA for over a year and never actually learned to swim. We moved and our neighbors recommended Aquatic Explorations - and we are so glad they did! Our kids (3 and 5) built up confidence so quickly and started swimming so soon. They love their instructors- Coach G is AMAZING at teaching and also with keeping timid kiddos like my son confident and engaged. Coach Nicole is wonderful and my daughter just adores learning from her. It's such a wonderful swim school. The school also has a token system. Kids get a couple of tokens after lessons and can save up for prizes. My kids always love to save and plan which prizes they'd like to earn over time. We have a small child, and after hearing all the horror stories of kids falling into pools and almost drowning, I was anxious to get our little fella some lessons. After reading positive reviews for both Aquatic Explorations and Water Safe, I decided to do the free trial swim lesson with AE. Our son enjoyed it and the teachers all seemed good with the kiddos. AE is also a tad less expensive and closer to us, so we decided to start our son here with 1-on-1 lessons. We started this past July and I'm impressed with his instructor, Miss. Cat along with the other teachers observed. Lessons aren't cheap as the ones we signed up for are just our son with one instructor. It is $22 per 15 min lesson. I know, at first I was like "what?! $22 for only 15 mins?!?" But 15 mins is perfect for young ones who can't focus for longer periods of time. And IMO, I'd rather pay more to get him quickly trained and able to save himself should he accidentally fall into a pool with no one near to rescue him. The facility isn't what I was used to for swim lessons. The location is actually inside an industrial complex with the pool built into the second floor of their unit. But it's heated all year round, and a decent size for teaching the young ones. They also have large colorful kites hanging above that helped my son look up when he was floating on his back. There's also a single shower that you can wash off in after your lesson which I really appreciate- saves me time at home and keeps a chlorine soaked kid out of the car! After each lesson the teacher will tell the child how many gold coins s/he earned depending on how well they did that day. The kiddos can then get one prize from the treasure chest, or choose to save them up to earn a bigger prize- great way to motivate my kid. I'd recommend AE to other parents of small children. Great place to get them on their way to becoming competent swimmers! read more

We have been coming to Aquatics Exploration for 5 years and have no plan of stopping. Our son is autistic and Mr. Jason worked with him patiently and confidently. Aquatics Exploration provided a sponsorship for the first year and also provides a discount for special needs kids! We cant afford to send him more than once a week, but that once a week lesson has given Caleb the opportunity to play in the water like other children. This review is for the tots program they have only. My son started here when he was about six months olds. My wife and I wanted to get him used to the water. The class is 45 min and Start off with a song, then we do back floats, leg extensions, work on kickers, and then works on dips. One thing I really like is that you are working with your son or daughter so you get to determine things like how much or how far underwater your little one goes when doing dips. I have heard of stories where on the first day other instructors are doing full on dips with babies that have never been in the pool. I really like the instructors that we have the are both super friendly and goof with the kids, and friendly and engaging with the parents. The pool is an indoor pool however the back door which is like a garage door is always open, this is really on a bad thing when it is supper cool outside or with the occasional wind that comes thru. I would say the pool is an average backyard size and about 4 1/2 feet deep the water is always warm. My biggest and only complaint is the office. I have called and left a messages for the instructor letting them know that my son would not be coming and the office would call back and try to enroll my son in the class. It is no big deal it just frustrating. read more

We miss this place! My son started his swimming lessons here when he was 3 yrs. old and for a couple more yrs been on different schedules and coaches. He loved everybody specially Coach Amy whom he had fun 'competing' with at end of some of his sessions. Now he's grown and been trying out other facilities for group classes and longer duration but still, coaches over here still tops the learning process. Aquatic Explorations and instructor Jason are amazing. We have a special needs daughter learning to swim. Jason is a special instructor who has a gift instructing special needs students. My daughter is improving in her skills under the patient tutoring of Jason. He is able to form a special bond with each of his students and tailors instruction to meet their individual needs. Tried this place but I got the wrong time sent via email so I missed the free trial. They keep their restrooms locked but they looked very small. The whole place overall was small. They require specific swimwear for the kids so ask because they didn't tell me. When I arrived, I waited for 30 minutes before anyone even said hello. Then I was greeted by a lady with an attitude as if I did something wrong. Thanks to technology I showed her the email on the phone. So who knows how they are. Hard to find since its in an industrial area and it was a surprise how the fit the above ground pool The lady with the attitude did offer a free private lesson for my little ine but I declined as my daughter is better in group settings with other kids. Not a good experience and didn't like the facility so I will not go back there again. read more

Before deciding on Aquatic Explorations, I checked all of the reviews on yelp and visited two other swim schools. (Watersafe Swim School in Seal Beach & Waterworks Aquatics in HB) Out of all three, Aquatic Explorations was the best choice for our family! They offered the most competitive rates, a lot of different times, private lessons, and was super close to our house. Here are a few things I was looking for in a swim school: 1) Private lessons at a good price. For the summer, I signed up each kid for 3x/week at $16/lesson for 15 minute sessions. Not bad! - Both WSS & WA were over $20/lesson. 2) Covered pool area - WSS was but WA was only half covered for now. But WA was all outdoors just with a canopy. Aquatic Exploration was the only full indoor pool. 3) Heated Pool - All three had heated pools. 4) Private parking lot- WSS didn't have a parking lot. It was street parking. Didn't like that I had to try to find a spot with two toddlers. WA had a huge parking lot. nice. 5) Intimate school where it wasn't too crowded - Aquatic Exploration was spaced out well with their lessons. You didn't have too many people in the facility at a time. Didn't feel tight or crowded. Typically you would have 3 sessions going at a time. WS was super tight, narrow, and crowded. Looked like a water polo competition with babies! I didn't want to be in there. WA was nice and big. A bit too big. It was like a giant public rec pool. 6) Great teachers - I'm sure the instructors at all three places are fantastic. So, I picked Aquatic Explorations. They had everything we were looking for. Our girls have had 5 lessons here so far. Both of our kids never had any swim lessons or classes prior so I was a bit nervous at first. (almost 4 yrs old) By the 4th lesson, one of our daughter was able to leap off of the stairs, dive into the water (full face under water) pick up rings, and swim towards the instructor about 5 feet away from the stairs! Amazing!!! Our second daughter hasn't dunked her head into the water yet, but she's able to float and swim with some help on her back so far. Just a little more work and I think she'll get it. I'm so glad that we signed them up 3x per week. It's showed huge progress and improvements in their swimming. We haven't had one set instructor but so far have had: ms. Lola, Dominique, and Mandy. The girls love them all! Everyone is so helpful and really good with the kids! I'm super happy with Aquatic and glad that I made this choice! My husband and I signed our son up for swim lessons at Aquatic Explorations when he turned 3years old last May. I searched all over the Internet for swim schools and am very pleased with my choice. Ms. Lola is his instructor and she is Amazing! She is very kind and understanding not just with our son, but from what we see with her fellow students. When our son first started he did not know how to swim, but loved the water. It is incredible to see his progress and all that Ms. Lola has taught him! We are extremely grateful for her. I love the fact that they are not only teaching the kids to swim, but they teach them all the proper techniques as well as discipline. All the kids are rewarded by choosing from the treasure chest at the end of each lesson depending on how well they listen which I think is a awesome way to keep them on track and continue with their progress. When you show up, your jaw will drop at the hefty price for a fifteen minute lesson...but I promise your child will accomplish more in those fifteen minutes than he or she would in an entire two week session at a local park and rec program. I wasted years on mediocre lessons, and it took Jason one day to get my very water-reluctant son swimming with confidence. I can't speak highly enough of the owners and instructors--they are patient, caring and competent. Their focus on form and technique goes beyond simply screaming "big arms," but they really fine-tune the strokes so your child will develop into a skilled swimmer. About a year ago they started a swim team that meets at Millikan High School, and it has been such a great experience for my oldest son. The coaching is top notch and the environment is fun rather than hyper competitive. I love the attitude and philosophy of this swim school, and I highly recommend it! read more

Basically don't bring your kids here if they are timid, scared, and cry in the beginning because then they will give you back your check and cancel your swimming lessons. I only went to two 15 minute lessons for my 4 year old son with two different teachers, his second day there when his lesson ended the woman in the front who had scheduled my son's lessons already twice a week for a whole month told me that she doesn't think the teacher who she had originally assigned him for the rest of his lessons would be a good fit to teach my son so she cancelled his swimming lessons. I was confused so I asked her for her suggestion and she told me she wants to schedule my son with a better teacher and that she would have to check the schedule and email me in the morning (it's been a week now & she has NOT emailed me). She then gave me back my check and told me "yeah because we can't have that here", & I knew right away she was referring to my son crying during his lessons. When she told me that my heart dropped and I knew that she did not want my son to go back there anymore. My son can't have different teachers teaching him in every lesson, he needs only one teacher that he can learn to trust and be comfortable with and that is exactly why I scheduled him with only one teacher for the rest of his lessons. For the price we pay you would think ALL the teachers are able to handle and teach a kid who is scared in the beginning. Then right before we leave she tells my son "I believe in you I know you can do it". If you believed in him you wouldn't have cancelled his swimming lessons and you would have contacted me by now. I really do hope the owner sees this review so this doesn't happen again to another parent and their child. My son will eventually learn how to swim with the right people who have real patience because this place clearly does not have that capability. read more

Ms. Lola is a great instructor, and my 2yo son listens to her -- actually I'm pretty sure he has a crush on her because he talks about her non-stop at home. They spend the whole time in the pool, start promptly, and do a variety of different activities. After 5 lessons, my son can now float on his back for 10+ seconds. I don't have anything to compare the classes to, but I'm pleased so far. The $2 credit card fee seems unreasonable. read more

This place is truly a gem and we are so lucky to have found it. After trying out a few other swim schools, we found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. Before we started with AE, our five year old twins did not know how to swim AT ALL. One of them was even afraid to put his face in the water. In one session, he was putting his face under water and my other son was backfloating. In one month, they were both swimming faces underwater, backfloating and were able to recover after being thrown into the water, making it to the wall or the steps safely without assistance! We nearly cried watching them. We started off with 30 min sessions each, once per week and quickly increased those to four times per week after seeing the progress they were making. The classes are one-on-one which is awesome because we don't have to get in. All the teachers are great! We have had Ms. Dominique who is the master teacher (a bit more expensive but totally worth it), Ms. Melissa, Ms. Amanda, Ms. Lola and Ms. Elena. All have their own styles but teach the same drills so there is consistency. My boys love them all and most importantly, we trust them all! The office manager (Kelly) and office staff (Kristi) are so patient and accommodating. With their help, we were able to find classes to meet our ever-changing schedules which is tough given that we want 30 min for each kid on the same day, several days a week. They deserve a medal for figuring it all out. They are also really great about make-ups, both in noting when you can't make it and also in helping you find a time to make-up missed sessions. Prices are very reasonable especially given the quality of the lessons and the fact that they really do teach your kids to swim! All in all, the best swim school ever! Jasmin is a phenomenal instructor. In just 15 min she was able to build my daughters confidence which without realizing it made me tear up a bit lol. I was so proud of my little one. Now, as a mom I do a good job of teaching her a lot of things, but this I have to be honest I needed their help and I'm not scared to admit it. FYI: my kid can swim already, but there is so much more to swimming that some don't realize. It's a life skill and a beatiful art and I want my daughter to embrace it, plus she might need to be a lifeguard one day to pay for college, lol. And, u never know when ur kid could save someones life, she's 5, but she already learned CPR. We can't wait to go back every week one day a week. I noticed another instructor who was hispanic and he was exceptional. It looked like he was an olypic trainer for kids. This place is deff worth the price and drive. My daughter is 5 and sometimes ok with the water and sometimes very reluctant. Ms. Lola has been very patient and always gently encourages her to try to do a little more than she thinks she can. Lola is very reassuring and a great teacher for a reluctant child. Would definitely recommend her! We've been with AE for 5 years now, with 3 children. All three started at the age of 3. I'm amazed at what the instructors can do in 15 minutes. My oldest 2 went from not being able to leave my arms in a pool to swimming/floating on their own in the first 2 weeks of lessons. My oldest is now trying for the swim team. Somehow we always ended up with the teachers who later became master instructors, Mr. Rob and now Ms. Dominique; that was a plus. We have another teacher this time for the sake of saving time and she's amazing as well. I can see her also becoming a master teacher. That would be 3 for 3! My daughter has been taking classes here for almost a year and I am amazed at how much she has learned as well as how much fun her and I have both been having. The pool is heated which makes it easy to put her in. The location is convenient and it is also indoors which is nice not to worry about sunscreen or cold weather.
