The space is nice & clean, staff are helpful & friendly & very accommodating the online reservations are easy to navigate &, in our case, we made an error in our booking so we sent an email to get it corrected & we received a response within 24 hours -- excellent customer service! We did the classroom-themed room, and were impressed by the range of puzzle types. Our party of two adults and two kids did well, with everyone contributing, and there was no real lull to the flow of the room. Despite the first impression of the room feeling a little underwhelming in terms of decor, you soon get involved enough in the puzzles to look past it, and to be fair, it is priced appropriately. Henry, our gamemaster, was friendly and attentive to the group. We'll return for the other offering at this location, and probably one day the portable game too. read more

my group had a good time, but the worker was not very kind to us. she gave us a lot of hints in a little extra time so that was nice, but other than that, she went into help us cause the lock wasn't working and then she left and threw the lock on the ground. and almost one of my friends. also, we booked the pirate one and she gave us the school one and argued about it for 25 minutes. read more

Great place! Our small party of 3 players did the Pirate room - we used four hints and finished with (drumroll) exactly :01 or one second remaining! The puzzles are clever and varied, and it's a pretty rich test. I actually felt bad for whoever had to reset the room - there's a lot of stuff in there :) The owner was very pleasant and helpful, and I might add that we were the very last game on a Saturday night, when you might expect people to be a little tired/cranky or just disengaged. Not here! A friend asked whether his kids would enjoy it. I'd say under 13ish, it's a crazy fun environment to walk into and explore but you would probably need to give them specific tasks ("go find all the donkeys!**" or "read me these numbers!" or "line up these letters!) to keep them engaged for the whole hour. Because some of the puzzles might be a bit over their heads. So yes, they could love it if you are ready to manage their involvement a bit. That's just my take on it. We werent sure about going during Covid19 but saw reviews about their sanitary practices that reinsured us. When we got there and did the pirate escape room, our takeaways are: 1. it was very sanitary and everything was wiped down, hand sanitizer available, masks worn and you only do the room with your group. 2. it was fun for the whole family. we were four people including our 12 and 10 year old daughters. We were on the last clue when time ran out and for all four of us it was fun and challenging and time flew. 3. The staff are the owners and inventors of the eacape rooms and are super nice and really get into seeing how folks in the escape room are doing. afterwards they said when they traveled (before covid) they always do escape rooms where they go because they love seeing different escape rooms. they also shared with great enthusiasm how they found the different pictures or props that make up the escape room. Our family (me, my husband, two kids, my dad) just got out of the X Marks The Spot room and we had an absolute blast! The decor and puzzles were impressively done and we just beat the clock with no hints and a lot of teamwork. Everyone came out energized and smiling! Our host was also super nice and helpful. We have done several escape rooms as a family and really enjoyed Code Zone. We did the Pirate X marks the spot room and thought it was well thought out and creative. We didn't even need any hints and finished in time! We would love to do another escape room there. I wish they had more rooms to do. So much fun! 9 of my girlfriends and I ransacked this place looking for clues and it was a really good time. I've participated in several escape rooms and this is a good one! The clues are thoughtful and add just enough confusion to get you really thinking and the awesome decor gives you an authentic escape room experience. For a first timer in an escape room I wasn't sure what to expect. Had a blast! We had a group of ten and with an hour to crack the code and escape and we used every second (maybe even ten minutes extra) The room was challenging but fun to keep all ten of us engaged and every team member was able to use their own skill sets to come together and formalize a plan working on different intricate pieces of the puzzle. I am so excited that there is now an escape room close by to my home instead of having to drive all the way to the city! Both rooms were very challenging when I went, and although my groups didn't escape in time, I had so much fun. The puzzles were intricate enough to be challenging but not too hard for my friends that hadn't been in an escape room before. There was also enough to do in each room so that even if you had a bigger size group, smaller groups within them could be working on separate puzzles to help in the quest to escape. So happy to have an escape room in Petaluma! It was very challenging. Our group of 6 shared the room with a group of 5. It was fun but recommend booking the room for your own party. We were having a hard time while the other group was whizzing through everything which didn't give us much of a chance to participate so it sort of bit a damper on the experience. The room was big enough that we could move around.
