I've been to many Playland's in the greater Bay Area…read moreand I have to be brutally honest, this Playland in Sausalito, California is by far the worst. I traveled all the way to Playland Sausalito from the South Bay with my 5 year old son for my cousins 5 year old son's birthday party. Upon exiting and making a left her and a left there I found myself driving through an old, dusty, shoddy, dirt road, with barrack style bungalows up into an old, spooky gymnasium. I'm assuming they're using 'Playland' in the school's old gymnasium. Is the school still open? I do not know, but from the looks of it, I doubt it. Just looked run down and unkept to be actually open on a day-to-day basis. I'm giving Playland Sausalito a 1 star review because mostly everyone from my cousins party ended up catching either the flu or some variation of the stomach bug that's been going on. Depending on if you were an adult or a child that kind of dictated your symptoms. After calling and asking around if anyone else from the party got sick I was not surprised to hear that, yes other people in attendance got sick. In addition to getting sick, the overall venue was kind of run down and seemed like it's on it's last leg. A few inflatables, a few balls to kick around, 2 pop-a-shot basketball hoops (one didn't work), and a cold gloomy atmosphere. Nice! I understand what Playland Sausalito is trying to do in terms of providing a safe fun-filled place for children to have parties and hang out with friends and family but if children and adults are getting sick than that's defeating the purpose. Maybe it was a one time thing or others have gotten sick at this establishment but I think lack of attention to detail, sanitary practices, and overall kind of just a dingy, ordinary, throw a few balls and inflatables in here and call it a 'Playland' is lame and dangerous. Also, when I called Playland to ask a question as to if they are open or not? (says they are closed on Yelp unless it's a private party), the guy that answered the phone said "Hello".. LoL, not "Thank you for calling Playland how can I help you" so I had to ask the guy "Is this Playland?". Not professional dude. In hindsight, as I was oblivious of what was to come the days after the party, I made a comment to my cousin that they were having another party right after us and I didn't see them doing any kind of sanitary wipe downs or anything. Yikes! In conclusion, I probably won't be coming back again and if you were thinking on planning a party for your little one here, I'd look around some more for I'm sure there are other venues that offer more bang for your buck. Do I recommend, No.

The staff is very friendly. The outdoor seating at the restaurant is really neat because you get live entertainment watching the driving range folks. Be prepared if you're on top as it does get HOT :) The bathrooms are clean, parking is plenty, and I'm considering bringing my son on a weekday when it's not busy to try mini golf. I think he'd love the setup.

Kids put on aprons, choose the texture of the type of slime they want. They have about five different options. Then you picked the color. (Lots of cool options) then you pick the scent, and you get to watch the slime master get your slime mixed all together.. you then head to a table to play with the slime, once you're ready for the mix ins you can pick between glitter, kinetic sand, and a few other options, and then a bottle up your slime. You're welcome to sit and play longer than the 25 to 30 minutes.... Each visit we stayed about a total of 40 minutes, which seemed to be enough for my three year-old. You are welcome to stand and watch you do not have to participate, but it's always nice to take part in creating precious moments and memories with kids. Starting price is about $25... they also have premade slime and some fun seasonal character slime which is a little more expensive. They even have slime kits. You can have a birthday party if you reserve the date in advance.. if I didn't live so far, I would definitely do this with my child and a few other kids. Cons: They don't allow pool toys because babies could get ahold of them and choke, and they don't allow nose clips or snorkel masks because they're a drowning hazard, both rules we've never encountered at any of the multitude of other pools we've been to. Some neurodivergent individuals and/or those who deal chronic ear infections or severe allergies may need nose clips to swim so that rule in particular seems unnecessarily restrictive. I also found nothing about nose clips being a drowning hazard when I googled it. Lastly, as we were making a snack bar purchase I watched as a customer came to talk to the staff about an issue and then when the person left to go back to their blanket, facility staff and lifeguards openly joked and laughed about it. After another nearby pool was closed, I was trying to quickly find another option and relied on Google, which made it seem like this one might be open. We drove over, but there was no activity -- no cars parked, no sounds of kids or families around. We spoke with base security, who was kind but didn't have clear information about the pool or its hours, and shared that it is not open to the public without special permission. We were also told that the parking area is not for civilian use. After checking the official site, it looks like the summer season doesn't begin until May 23, so definitely something to plan ahead for. Sharing in case it helps others avoid the same situation!

Now my son is 15, but we still go together with our 2 dogs. I appreciate the doggie bags, but have always wished there was a bathroom there, it seems to be the only thing that caps our time. We have even hosted many BBQs and Bday parties at Kay Park. It's completely fenced in so even the fastest runners can go off leash here!!

If you drive there and park on the road, just look for what looks like a small pathway or paved little alley between two houses --- that's the entrance. No bathrooms... not even sure if there's a water fountain... (can't recall and don't live there any more)... but just the sweetest little spot to take small children! There are two separate fenced play spaces and one large grassy lawn. One play area is for toddlers, the other for older children. You are unlikely to encounter playmates at this park, so bring a friend! What you will find is shade on a summer's day and a spot where (if you have a dog as well as children) you can bring the whole family.

But that's all I need to do my water exercise. The temp is good (80-84) and they provide noodles. I also hear they're renovating the pool deck in the near future. I would have given 4.5 stars, as there is no indoor shower...just outdoors in the open. They do have good changing rooms though. The character of this treasure of a hometown pool deserves the full 5 stars despite the lack of indoor showers.

While I'm not a member, I have played many matches at this club over the years. And next to my…read moretennis club (Harbor Point), this is probably one of my favorite places to play in Marin. It's just a charming, off-the-beaten-path setting. Yet it's still close enough to downtown Mill Valley. The weather's always sunny. It never gets too windy. The courts are all well-maintained. The members are very Marin (but without the snooty attitude that you find at other clubs). They have a very cozy/casual clubhouse, complete with a full bar, kitchen, TV room, and ping pong table. It looks more like a camp clubhouse from the 70s. But that's kind of its charm. They have plenty of couches by the windows so you can watch matches on their two center courts while nursing a beer. Since it's a private club, they don't allow outside guests to purchase drinks (unless they're purchased by a member). I thought that was a bit strange. I even offered to pay cash, but they couldn't do it. However, for some reason, it was ok for me to pay by credit card (you figure that one out). That being said, the lady working the bar was very sweet and poured a tasty margarita. All in all, Mill Valley Tennis Club is a lovely addition to Marin County's recreational community, and I look forward to playing there again soon.
