We had such a wonderful stay at Codorniz Recreation Area Campground! The campground itself was quiet, clean, and very well maintained. The park grounds were beautiful, and it was obvious that a lot of care goes into keeping everything looking great. The free showers were a huge bonus and much appreciated. The bathrooms were decent overall. Unfortunately, a few fellow campers left them messy, which isn't the campground's fault. The staff did their best to keep up with it. Our kids had an absolute blast playing in the water and enjoying the volleyball court. It was the perfect place for our family to relax and make memories together. The absolute highlight of our stay was Terri and J. They are two of the friendliest, kindest, and happiest campground hosts we've ever met. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel so welcome. They went out of their way to make our kids smile by giving them stickers and coloring books, which absolutely made their day. It's those little thoughtful gestures that leave a lasting impression. They were always cheerful, incredibly helpful, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. Because of Terri and J, along with the clean, peaceful campground, this was one of our favorite camping trips. We'd gladly return and highly recommend Codorniz Recreation Area Campground to anyone looking for a relaxing, family-friendly place to camp. read more

This campsite is huge which is suppose to be able to have up to 100 campers. This is the first time to Codorniz and we didn't know what to expect. The drive was very far from where we live and took us roughly 5.5 hours. I think their signage could use some improvements since all 6 cars got lost to the site. There week that we were there was in the mid 90's but luckily the lake was 10-15 walk or 3 minutes drive from the site where you can play in the water to cool off. I would stay away though if the temp is any higher since there isn't much tall trees that provides shades or helps to block sim strong winds that picks up randomly. Overall the stay was a pleasant surprise with an amazing sunset and bright stars at night. I can't see this as a yearly spot but maybe we will come back in a few years due to the distance. read more

We stayed here on the last day of a 6 day road trip through Southern California, and I am so happy to say it was awesome! Filled with wild life and beautiful golden grassy fields. We stayed at campsite number 4 (good view, somewhat secluded, covered table, and close to the bathrooms) There was one maybe two other campers In the whole place. The bathrooms were the nicest camping bathrooms I've ever been to with one shower that was working, very clean, and well maintained. It was a $20/day for tent campers. I could see this place getting busy in the summertime and some of the campsites are fairly close together. read more

Codorniz has a lot going for it. The area is absolutely beautiful, but a bit dry in this drought. The water levels at the lake are also really low. In its current situation you have to walk 30-40 minutes before you reach water. The facilities are excellent. Restrooms were spotless! Water and electricity were constant. We drive a class A motor home and we're very comfortable. We were very close to our neighbors, but they were friendly and quiet, so no problems. We also enjoyed cooking over the camp fire! What I really didn't appreciate were the camp volunteers. Complete and utter trash! They were staying right by the entrance so we had to pass them every time we left or came back from the lake. They had two dogs who sat outside all day snarling at campers. One was a little chihuahua but the other was big and aggressive. We had to walk on the far side of the road to avoid getting bit by this menace. We were also treated to them screaming at their kids at all hours of the night. read more
