The park grounds were beautiful, and it was obvious that a lot of care goes into keeping everything looking great. The free showers were a huge bonus and much appreciated. The bathrooms were decent overall. Unfortunately, a few fellow campers left them messy, which isn't the campground's fault. The staff did their best to keep up with it. Our kids had an absolute blast playing in the water and enjoying the volleyball court. It was the perfect place for our family to relax and make memories together. The absolute highlight of our stay was Terri and J. They are two of the friendliest, kindest, and happiest campground hosts we've ever met. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel so welcome. They went out of their way to make our kids smile by giving them stickers and coloring books, which absolutely made their day. It's those little thoughtful gestures that leave a lasting impression. They were always cheerful, incredibly helpful, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. Because of Terri and J, along with the clean, peaceful campground, this was one of our favorite camping trips. We'd gladly return and highly recommend Codorniz Recreation Area Campground to anyone looking for a relaxing, family-friendly place to camp.

The drive was very far from where we live and took us roughly 5.5 hours. I think their signage could use some improvements since all 6 cars got lost to the site. There week that we were there was in the mid 90's but luckily the lake was 10-15 walk or 3 minutes drive from the site where you can play in the water to cool off. I would stay away though if the temp is any higher since there isn't much tall trees that provides shades or helps to block sim strong winds that picks up randomly. Overall the stay was a pleasant surprise with an amazing sunset and bright stars at night. I can't see this as a yearly spot but maybe we will come back in a few years due to the distance.

Remote enough that it was peaceful but not isolated. Amenities we used which were bathrooms mainly were VERY well maintained and each lot had a faucet with water and an outlet as well as a bench. We noticed there was a laundromat, a park, a pool, and trash and recycle bins throughout the park. My only complaint was that it was all rock and that sucked for my back. We saw a mama bear and her cubs everyday and that was super cool.

There are only about six tent sites as compared to numerous RV sites plus cabins and yurts. I am giving the business 2/5 stars. This is due to the extreme lack of safety promotion regarding regular black bears on site. We have tent-camped eight other times in bear country. In all circumstances, we were provided with and used a bear-proof food storage locker. We were coached by staff about bear safety (e.g., no food in tent or car, use bear locker and garbage receptacles, make noise if they approach, etc.). In these other settings, we observed multiple signs throughout the campgrounds reiterating bear safety. We were provided with dishwashing stations to minimize food residue on sites. While camping in bear country, we never saw a bear but knew to be quite cautious. When we checked in at Outdoorsy Yosemite, I was rapidly oriented to the facility such as the locations for bathroom, pool, etc. The employee then stated, "Keep your food out of your tent. Put away your food in your car when you're not at your site" and shifted to the next topic. I read between the lines, thinking, "I suppose we must be in bear country." As I flipped through the paper packet, I saw the alert I posted here. I observed two signs about bears in the campground. During our first evening we were informed by members that bears are regular visitors. The woman showed us multiple pictures of recent bear sightings, such as at campsites and outside the lounge. We realized we should be more careful than instructed. At 10:30 PM we put away all our food in our car. We had the trunk open for ten minutes as we waited for our teen to return with his toiletry bag. The remaining family was in our tent, just three feet from our car. I heard an extremely loud crash and looked out. An older cub had heaved out our cooler from the trunk and was scavenging. We emerged from the tent, making noise. The bear moved ten feet away. We got on the car horn and continued to make loud noises. It moved out of sight. The next morning, we saw a bear wandering the campground road. That evening, at about 10 PM, we were in the lounge enjoying a movie. My teen daughter returned to our site to get her water bottle. There was no food out - all was in the car with the trunk closed. She stopped short when she saw a very large bear (about 7 feet high) standing on hind legs at our picnic table, sniffing around, about 25 feet away. She slowly backed away and thankfully made her way back safely to our family. The next morning, we heard a bear in the greenbelt adjacent to our site. This was very unnerving. On our last morning, I asked to speak to the director, Kim. I appreciated her time and listening ear. I raised my concerns about the proximity and frequency of bears. She responded that this is bear country and that there are frequent bear sightings in nearby areas as well. Since this is not public property, the government cannot help and we will always have bears here. I stated that I completely understand; however, I asked what CAN be done, what IS in your control. I shared how we have tent camped in bear country, followed the strict and clear protocols, and never seen a bear. At Outdoorsy Yosemite, where bears are regularly sighted, the management by staff is noticeably passive. I had to infer that this is bear country from the orientation by the employee. There are no bear lockers. There are minimal signs. There is an attitude that it's normal to have black bears roaming around campsites, snooping in campsites, and that nothing bad will happen. I understand that these are not grizzlies, but they are still wild animals who deserve our respect and may not always act in a safe manner. From what I have read from the national parks, the more bears are around people, the more desensitized they get, the more they return, and the greater chance of incidence. It's quite concerning to know that you are tent camping in an area where bears regularly roam. I told Kim that although we loved the facility, we could not stay here again unless there were bear lockers and assurance of active communication about the regular bears on site. She said she is looking into bear lockers for tent sites only due to the expense and would share my input with the board. They do have bear-safe garbage receptacles. We learned from a member that we can wash dishes in the lounge; this would be an important feature for staff to highlight. Among other changes, all sites need bear lockers since bears can get into vehicles; if not, then at least provide centrally located, shared lockers for RVs & individual lockers for tent sites. I cannot recommend this venue - too stressful & unsafe!

After staying for nine days we found out that you had to become an escapee's member and the cost was $49. To join for one year. The park refunded this in a free night credit. While staying here we met the park manager and took a tour after finding out they are a 55+ members park. After reviewing the park information and seeing what a beautiful park this was we decided to make this our home base. We travel to many places after retirement but found that we needed a place to hang out hat for Dr. appointments, and staying connected with our family in the Central Valley. We bought in and picked our site. The unique nature of living here is that the members here all volunteer to help keep cost down to run the park. This gave us a sense of ownership and community. We volunteer 3 days per week for approximately 4 hours per day and join in on special events to help set up or organize events that are for the members. It's not like having a job but more like going to hang out with folks that have the same interests. There is constantly an event going on weather you like to play cards, pool, dominoes, darts, working out , or outdoor activities like pickle ball or mini golf the fun is endless. This amazing place has beautiful views of the Sierra foothills and there's even a casino across the mountain. Becoming a member here has given us a place to call home in between our travels and our site remains ours when we're in the park. If you're thinking of becoming a full timer or if you're looking for a great place to glamp, this is the place!

We stayed in back-in, FHU site 42 which is in the only row of 50 Amp sites, which are near the entrance. The site was completely level! The electric, water and sewer connections worked as expected and were well placed. There is absolutely NO WiFi. AT&T, Verizon and TMobile cellular had full bars throughout the park. Cable is available, but all I could get was Telemundo. The sites were roomy enough. The 30amp FHU sites farther inside the park appeared roomier though. They also back up to the rivers edge. The Fresno River runs along the length of the park and at this time of year, there are multiple waterfalls that create very relaxing white noise. The campground was very quiet and easy to relax in. The office is well stocked with all the RV essentials and Katie the manager, was very helpful and friendly. The maintenance guy was super helpful and answered all my questions throughout the day. There is some room for the kids to ride bikes and there are two rarely used horseshoe pits. The park is dated and needs some TLC, but it is in Oakhurst, on the Fresno River, and near the southern entrance to Yosemite. The rustic feel is very nice. I would stay again when in the area.

There are street parking spots as well. We spent the day on the shore and didn't have a boat. The best way to enjoy the time is bringing shade, food and water toys. The food available is going to be more expensive but there are spots to grab a meal as well. Many spots require some going up and down, wear shoes you can navigate dirt areas. Boat rental and other on water equipment can be found as well. You can rent cabins and there is a hotel. It's a smaller lake but so much fun!

I loved the Worldmark Bass Lake as each unit was a 2 story townhouse.  There was nobody above us and I rarely heard the people next to us.  At other Worldmarks I was often woken up by people walking on the floor above us.  I'm not a good sleeper away from home but I got some good sleep here. There is the nearby town of Oakhurst about 15 minutes away which had a good amount of restaurants.  I was impressed there was a street vendor selling half flats of strawberries for $20.  I bought one and was eating strawberries everyday.  Strawberries needed another day or 2 before they were fully ripe.  After I let them sit in the kitchen they were sweet and juicy with lots of strawberry flavor.  Better than supermarket strawberries but not quite as good as my favorite farmers market strawberries. This place is amazing for families, couples, or anyone who loves the outdoors…read more Note - we booked through RCI. Worldmark manages the units on the "otherside of the gate" for RCI. Worldmark units have their own pool, etc, and the RCI units share a pool, parking lot, trash bins with some actual homeowners who live in that same area. They are not very friendly (who can blame them, while we were there a guest drove his truck through someone's backyard.) Forgive the length, but good info here: The unit: We stayed in unit A35, in building 3, closest to the lake but with no lake view. Perfect unit if you want a quiet place to relax and an opportunity to see wildlife. It faces the boat parking lot. Upstairs in the master is a window facing the road. Anyone on the road can see into the window so we just left the blinds closed. No road noise to speak of. There is only 1 shower/tub and it's upstairs, so not technically a 2 bath as stated. With 4 people,  it's a bit inconvenient. Photos show all the room appointments, it was perfect for us. Both bedrooms were upstairs with the full bath.  The lake: Very short 5 min walk to the lake. We easily rolled our kayaks over every morning.  Lake gets very busy, but the water is incredibly clear. We spent hours exploring the shoreline and wetlands. Angel Falls trailhead is also in walking distance from the resort, although there are a few places along the road where there is no shoulder, so its not for the faint of heart. Yosemite Access: Wawona entrance is only 30 min from the lake but it's another hour to get to the main attractions in the park (bridal veil falls etc.) We were here during the Wahburn and Oak fires so we had to use the entrance gate waaaay over on the other side of Mariposa. After 1.5 hours of driving, we then had a 2 hour wait to get in the park. I don't recommend it. I cannot recommend this place enough. Staff was friendly and helpful. From the pool to the lake, there are tons of things to do and explore,  enough to keep all ages busy.
