We took the advice of the barista and went Sumatran, who told us "it had a hint of vanilla and is good served black." Perfect. Could my unrefined coffee palate taste the hint of vanilla, no, but was the coffee strong and silky smooth - yes. In fact, it was so delicious that I ordered the same thing the next day. There is a range of seating option available; sitting inside/inside or you can sit outside/inside with the gently sloping light of the skylight above. The day I dined here, it was one of the those sky-splittingly wet Auckland days and it was so cosy in the Java House I didn't really ever want to leave. Coupled with the fact that I was nomming on a delicious bowl of pumpkin soup with a crusty generous slice of French bread, it was very hard to tear myself away on the completion of my meal.
