This is a cute little shop situated inside Elliot's Provisions. While the scones looked amazing, I was on a mission for chai. The friendly barista informed me they have a few choices: a powdered chai (hard pass) and two choices of chai concentrate- sweet or spicy. The concentrate brand was, "Sanctuary Chai" which I've never tried, and the blend was "Spicy Honey Chai" so I figured it'd have that honey-sweet tang and hopefully a good hit of spice. I was correct on the honey-sweetness, but the spice level was on the lower end of the spiciness scale. Maybe it needed to be shook before being mixed, the milk:chai ratio was off, or it's just not that spicy. All-in-all, a passable chai but not really memorable nor craveable. The shop is cozy-cute, the staff are fast, friendly, and welcoming, but the chai is just meh. I regret not ordering a scone.

Restaurant offers what appeared to be scone dough for purchase, as well as other numerous items, such as local honey, and some apparel. I got the rise and pine, a traditional scone with jam and butter, and a vanilla latte. I asked about the jams they offered. Unfortunately, the one I ordered was not available so I got strawberry jam. I gotta say I was a little bit letdown because I assumed this was freshly made jam and not prepackaged store-bought. Either way it tasted fine. The downside to cold store-bought jam is it was impossible to spread on the scone. The scone was so brital that it literally fell apart in my hand. It almost had the consistency of a day old homemade biscuit. There was no salvaging this scone to eat properly I had to eat it in pieces. That aside it did have good flavor. I wonder what would it have tasted like if I could've actually put the jam and butter on it. Latte was good as well as the rise and pine breakfast scone. Seating was a bit different. Meaning that you felt like you were right on top of one another. Not very roomie. The most comfortable seat I must say is the one near the restroom which is a leather loveseat and a chair. I paid $23.73, which included a tip. In my opinion for what I got, this was too much, especially since the scone fell apart in my hand.

The shop offers a myriad of unique cupcake varieties. As much as I would have liked to try them all, my wallet and waistline are probably glad I didn't. The following is the description and my thoughts on the varieties I tried. Dulce de Leche: Tres leches cake, vanilla buttercream, caramel. The vanilla buttercream was thick and flavorful, but the caramel was a little messy and not as strong a flavor as I hoped. As for the cupcake itself, it reminded me of one of the final bites of a stack of pancakes that has been sitting in syrup for a long time and has become soggy. This one was just okay. Salted Caramel: Chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, rich caramel and sea salt. Even though I prefer vanilla to chocolate, I found this to be a step up from the Dulce de Leche. Again the buttercream was thick and flavorful and the caramel was a little messy. This time around the caramel had more flavor thanks to the addition of sea salt. I think the salted caramel flavor could have been stronger though, so this one is also just okay. Monster Cookie: Peanut butter cake, cookie dough icing, oats, chocolate chips, and M&Ms. My Dad actually got this one but was nice enough to let me try a little. The peanut butter flavor of the cake is mild, but still satisfying since there's so much other stuff going on flavor wise. It's most unique aspect is the cookie dough icing that has a slightly gritty texture thanks to all the crystallized sugar. A dash of chocolate flavor is contributed by the chocolate chips and M&Ms, while the texture of the oats is also noticeable. Doughboy approved. PB&C: Chocolate cake, peanut butter icing, Reese's crumbles. This was my favorite cupcake of the batch. The peanut butter icing delivered a fully packed peanut butter flavor that was only intensified by the Reese's crumbles. Personally, I would have preferred it on a vanilla cupcake and that the Reese's crumbles covered all and not just half. Still very good and Doughboy approved. Brownie: Lastly, I couldn't leave without trying a brownie. C. Cup's version is mostly chewy with chocolate chunks within it. The exterior/edges are crispier and more cake like, but the interior is softer and chewier (which is how I like it). I wish it would have had some chocolate frosting to top it off or powdered sugar at the least.
