Hopping restaurant located on a posh residential street about a mile out of the village. The decor is eclectic (I dined under a large, colorful Dr. Seuss print) with fairly closely-spaced tables that keep the room buzzing. There's an upscale bar in the entry that had several seats open even when the tables were all full. I started with the crab hush puppies. What's not to like about fried dough after all, but I didn't really get much crab flavor out of them. The buttermilk and corn preparation came through more. The entree was a showstopper, though - grilled elk chops with a pomegranate glaze and country mashed potatoes. They were scrumptious, and the al dente vegetables cooked in with the potatoes gave them a nice toothsomeness. One of the best entrees I've had in quite some time. It's nice when a menu gives you a protein choice you don't see everywhere. Parking is fine, with a paved lot in front and spaces on either side of the adjacent street. I'm a bit late in posting this but you know....life. About a month ago we celebrated my birthday with a dinner at Elliott's. There were 10 of us including my very young grandchildren. We were seated in a back room at a long table, one of three. This room was warm and lovely. One table was already occupied, the other filled up shortly before we finished. From start to finish, our dining experience was wonderful. We did not have to worry about our little ones disrupting other guests, as the other party had little ones too. Our server, Madeline, was absolutely perfect! She was attentive without being intrusive. She had a good sense of humor and guided out decisions for food when we asked. She served us promptly and with a smile and made us feel so welcomed. I wish I could remember what everyone else ordered but I do know that my Pork Schnitzel was incredible! Also huge so I had enough for another meal the next day. When I return I will order the same thing. My husband brought a birthday cake in for me and our server brought that out at the end of the meal with plates and forks for everyone. We forced her to take a piece for her break, which she goodnaturedly did. There is only one tiny tiny thing to mention: It did take a long while for the 5 year old's drink and food to arrive. Not anyone's fault, it was very very busy. But try to explain that to a 5 year old. Rolls were served but they were too spicy for her. Or maybe the butter was spicy? Maybe feed your little ones something beforehand if you go on a busy weekend night, as we did. Kudos to the kitchen for pleasing so many different tastes so much, and for management for hiring Madeline who is a great asset to your restaurant. read more

I was in Pinehurst visiting family and was told that this was a must try place- they were correct! Not only was it beautiful inside, but the food was great! The truffle Mac and cheese was SO good and we weren't even going to get dessert, but after seeing their dessert presentation (yes I said presentation) we had to get some! Service excellent. Although after final dessert order disappears. Dessert of goat cheesecake was ok, not good. Get one of the others. Entrees were great. Caviar sampler was disappointing. Expected four different caviars but got one decent caviar with four different breads that overwhelmed the caviar. Wines were indifferent and the entire dinner at $250 was ok. I would recommend for a special occasion but don't expect too much. It's average for fine dining nationwide. All three of us were quite pleased with our meals. But special acclaim goes to the Shrimp and Grits. I find that mustard often takes over dishes. First time visitor. The facility looked very attractive and clean. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. The plate looked attractive with the chips and pickle. I took.a bite from.the sandw sandwich and pulled out a big piece of fat. After pulling out fat again and again, I finally pulled the sandwich apart and pulled the fat off the slice and ate what little lean meat was on there. I.dont know how a chef could in good conscience send out an order that disgusting. On.the positive side my wife's vegetable wrap was very good....but it would be hard to screw up a vegetable wrap. read more

While staying in Pinehurst we were able to get reservations for Elliot's. We were seated right away and our waiter came right to our table. We ordered a variety of drinks appetizers and food. We got a charcuterie board, crab hushpuppies, New York strip, lamb Wellington, truffle Mac and cheese and an apple crisp and chocolate cake for dessert. Dined here for husband's birthday. He had the Marget duck which was cooked nicely and I had the filet mignon cooked to exact temp as ordered. We also were able to choose a dessert on the house at the end of our meal. We enjoyed the decor and music that played in the background. Servers were kind and made our night very special. Stopped in without a reservation and we were seated in the bar area at a high top which was great. The ambiance is very comfortable and inviting. We started with a couple of drinks which were wonderful and ordered from the specialty menu. So many great dishes to choose from. They have a very nice wine menu as well. Elliott's has been in Pinehurst for many years, and there's a reason: it's a real gem! They have some basics, but there are lots of places in Pinehurst to get a good burger. Treat yourself to some of the wonderful, inventive items on the menu. The brining of the pork chop (and the mustard gravy!) make it so special. The grilled octopus is fantastic, as are so many of the offerings. Check out the specials on the big blackboard, too! The imaginative drinks are on point, too. Try Elliott's, definitely! We drove out to EOL from Fayetteville for a special occasion and we were super happy with our choice. It was our servers third day and she was absolutely adorable and so kind! Truthfully, the entire restaurant was bursting with good vibes and friendly staff. We love wine, but we definitely aren't wine experts. Our waitress was helpful with selecting a red wine that I loved. And there is a nice drink selection for anyone to find something they'll enjoy! We started with the shrimp and grits to share and they were phenomenal! My boyfriend had to run out to the car and I had to control myself from eating it all before he came back. Followed by the stuffed chicken and waffles and the pork schnitzel. Both fabulous. We just took turns eating off of each other's plates! Never have I before seen a restaurant force a patrons out just to fill it with a new party. I would get it if were where sitting there for 4 hours and not ordering anything. We were only a party of 5. It had only been about 1hr 30 min since being there. When the server came over, we had asked to order dessert. He then left to bring over the dessert tower they use to show off their options. After telling us the options the server then told us, that he would have to move us to another table because they had another dinner party waiting. At first we said this is a bit weird but sure. Then after he left and came back he then said sorry the only seating we have is outside. It's 40 degrees outside lol. We then refused deserts and paid our bill. This is beyond disrespectful to your customers. Especially after they are paying $800 for a dinner of 5. We also came here the day after thanksgiving and were impressed which is why we came back. That dinner cost was $700. So keep in mind we have already paid $1,500 to this establishment. If you need to kick out patrons just so you can stick another dinner party in, give them some sort of voucher, discount, bottle of wine or something. Better yet, as the manager or owner say it yourself instead of making your server do it. I can tell the server was beyond uncomfortable. We didn't let that ruin his tip but I can tell you we will never go to this establishment and do not recommend any other person do the same. Beyond disrespectful. read more

We are locals but had never been to Elliot's, the food was fantastic, obviously it is finer dining so go in with the preparation to spend more money than a usual night out, but me and my boyfriend both said numerous times that it was the best steak we had ever had. I had the filet mignon and he had the ny strip (I think, whatever the only other steak is,) I had a peachy keen since it was peach week, it was delicious! Service was great, our server was helpful and nice, other workers in the restaurant such as food runners and the manager checked on us!
