Today was my first time coming to the Pine Scone Cafe. Café was clean. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Staff was knowledgeable about the menu, and very patient because I know we took longer than we should have to make decisions. Restaurant offers what appeared to be scone dough for purchase, as well as other numerous items, such as local honey, and some apparel. I got the rise and pine, a traditional scone with jam and butter, and a vanilla latte. I asked about the jams they offered. Unfortunately, the one I ordered was not available so I got strawberry jam. I gotta say I was a little bit letdown because I assumed this was freshly made jam and not prepackaged store-bought. Either way it tasted fine. The downside to cold store-bought jam is it was impossible to spread on the scone. The scone was so brital that it literally fell apart in my hand. It almost had the consistency of a day old homemade biscuit. There was no salvaging this scone to eat properly I had to eat it in pieces. That aside it did have good flavor. I wonder what would it have tasted like if I could've actually put the jam and butter on it. Latte was good as well as the rise and pine breakfast scone. Seating was a bit different. Meaning that you felt like you were right on top of one another. Not very roomie. The most comfortable seat I must say is the one near the restroom which is a leather loveseat and a chair. I paid $23.73, which included a tip. In my opinion for what I got, this was too much, especially since the scone fell apart in my hand. read more

The Green Goblin scone is perfect. It is a chocolate mint scone with the ideal scone texture. The flavors are well balanced and the scone is a good size. I purchased the scone at Swank cafe. I wish I had tasted it right away rather than waiting until I got home. It was so good, I would have purchased more. Looking forward to returning! read more

I have yet to go the the Pinehurst location, but if it is anything like this location, I'm sure it's just as amazing! I've tried tea and coffee here, and they are great, but nothing tops their scones and sconewiches. I've done an egg, turkey sausage, and cheese as well as the Star. We're in Southern Pines a lot for appointments, so we get to venture around a bit while we're in the area! We were craving coffee and pastries and found this spot on the app! It's in a huge plaza area, so there's plenty of parking! We walked in, was kindly greeted, and noticed how clean and aesthetically pleasing the shop was. I do wish there were more tables and chairs that were family friendly. My son really likes the bench swing that sits in the corner right in front! Thankfully right after we ordered, the family sitting there was leaving and we got to sit there! It made it more fun for my kid. As pictured below, I ordered an iced chair tea latte and it was good! They didn't have as much pastries as I had thought but still a good few to pick from! I ordered myself a biscuit and jam. My kid ordered the chocolate chip scones. Nothing really wow'd me about the drink or pastries. The chocolate chip scones were hard and my kid didn't want anything to do with them. I'd give this spot three stars. A must visit if you are in the Southern Pines area. When we vacation here, it is the first stop of the day. This place is a coffee shop, gift shop, and little market tied all into one. I feel kind of bad giving it a 3 because it's not necessarily that it was a bad experience but just nothing worth going back for. A cold, sterile, industrial style decor which is usually the opposite of a coffee house environment. The seating was cramped next to the serving line. Scones were unexceptional, grocery bakery type, crumbly, dry, not served with clotted cream. The coffee and barista was no different than Starbucks. The associates/baristas were so kind, friendly and patient with us! They greeted us with a smile and we did not feel rushed or as if we were bothering them. We ordered a number of things! 1. Hot Coffee with Mocha and Hazelnut Syrup 2. Iced Coffee with Hazelnut, Cinnamon and Vanilla Syrup (AHHH-MAZING!) 3. The Star Sconewich - delicious! 4. The Classic Sconewich - delicious! 5. Ham and Cheese Melt Sconewich - delicious! Daughter loved it 6. Blueberry White Chocolate Scone - delicious! AND gluten free (GF)! I believe the Sconewiches were GF. We loved all of it! I love this little place! We were in the area and I have celiac, and did a quick search for gluten free and found this place. We stopped by for breakfast and I grabbed some gluten free scones! I was told that any of their 'sconewiches' could be made gluten free as well. Oh my gosh y'all!!!! I had a turkey sausage and cheese sconewich on an Italian Parmesan scone. It's like the best sausage and cheese biscuit this lady had had in 10 yrs!!! It's called The Brekky. You must try it. I loved this place so much that on the way home that day we stopped again for lunch. Just overall a great atmosphere. Every employee was awesome and genuinely seemed happy to serve. This coffee shop tucked into a shopping plaza was a great find! The menu is half scone-themed and half coffee, and we opted for the latter on this day. The ambiance was great and I loved the swinging wooden bench for two, which my wife and I rocked on it for a bit while waiting for our drinks. It's like a catch-22, all the ratings are 5's and so now I'm really excited to try it and my expectations are high. I will stand out from the crowd with my rating, here's why: 1.) As I was trying to make a decision about what to eat, I mentioned this was my first time at the cafe. This was met with something like, "okay...". A five star experience would've gone like, "Welcome! We are known for our...scones! We have them available in sweet and savory. My favorite is ______." 2.) I was asked if I wanted the food "for here" or "to go" and I answered "for here" and the person preparing the food brought it out wrapped up to go. I asked her if we could get it for here, she said it wasn't ordered that way and went back to the kitchen. No attitude or anything, happy to correct it but the comment was unnecessary (internal monologues are great for those comments). 3.) I ordered two items from the menus: The Brekky and The Chick-Me-Out Burger, they came out separately and it took much longer than one would expect. 4.) The Brekky-taste was good, definitely savory. The scones that served as the "bun" to the turkey sausage and cheese, tasted like buttery biscuits. They were soft, not what I expected for scones. The Chick left grease and curry stains on my fingers...I definitely used a ton of napkins! It was yummy but was hard to move past the grease and it didn't remind me of a scone in any fashion. Two items, no scone to speak of.... 5.) The atmosphere and design are just lovely, they get an A from me! However, if you're providing an elevated experience in the form of a cafe, it would be wise to train up the staff beyond basic etiquette. That's my opinion, take it or leave it....maybe take it because everyone else is willing to throw down 5's like they're going out of style. Would I try this place again? Eh...there wasn't enough there to draw me back. I'm neutral at this point but I usually like trying a place twice before not returning. read more

Delicious. Nice, warm, and very inviting environment and staff. Flat white was delicious and the espresso beans used were very nice. Not too acidic and proper temperature. I had the maple scone and the cranberry almond scone. Would recommend them heated. Savory fluffy scones with a slight pleasant crispness. Not too sweet as many places that serve "scones" usually make them like desserts. Great little gem. Go visit them and give them lots and lots of business! read more

Popped in for an afternoon snack and coffee break. I had some Jalapeño and cheddar and half a Blueberry and Macadamia scones. They were both delicious. The sweet more than the savory although I definitely would have thought otherwise just cause am not much of a sweet fan. But the scone was delicious and the coffee was not bad either. This is a cute coffee house to take a quick break in and enjoy a few relaxing moments between shopping or errands running. read more

The scones are delicious. Customer service fails. I've previously pre-ordered scone dough for family gatherings and every time I arrive to pick up my order, they do not have what I have requested. I've made sure to order at least 3 days in advance and it doesn't make any difference. We have people who are gluten intolerant and they advertise on their website the gluten free items, so it's not like I'm requesting anything out of the ordinary. What makes it worse is when I arrived to pick up my order and it's not there or they are "out" of what I ordered, the employees are very nonchalant about it and say, "Well, we just get busy and sometimes things just get missed." They really don't care. I've clarified the past two times that if they can't make my order, then call me and I won't waste the trip to come from out of town. Nope. Didn't happen. Great place to get scones! Love all of the holiday specials and they always have new ones to try. Make sure to get their early because if they do run out of scones. Also, if you put in an online order, make sure to call them so that you can verify that they received your order. They will bring you your scones to your car for curbside but you can go inside.
