Service was quick, thankful that there was no one in the drive thru. Perhaps I am over reacting, but it wasn't minty enough. They do 1 and half of the syrup, I asked for the 2 full pumps and it still wasn't minty. It was a good iced mocha but that was not what I wanted.

On the last trip to Corpus Christi, I wanted to try this coffee place out but didn't have time, so I said I would stop by the next time I was in town, which was earlier today, 8/7/24. My husband and I decided to get the riptide refresher, which was delicious. As much as I hate giving this place 3 stars, the customer service was terrible. Parking was a bit scarce, and customer service was horrible. The gentleman who helped us was not friendly or welcoming. I'm unsure if he was having a bad day or irritated that my husband and I took almost 5 minutes to review the menu, as it was our first visit, but he was not at all friendly or welcoming. As I waited for our drinks, I noticed they would call names as their drinks were ready, but when it came to mine, I watched the gentleman set our drinks on the counter and not say anything until I walked over and asked if it was the riptide. He responded, "Yeah." I replied back with a "thank you," but again, no response. However, there were two ladies working as well, and they were friendly and welcoming.

For the coffee connoisseurs: this was the best coffee I've had in a WHILE. I opted for an iced honey bee after the super helpful barista shared with me that it's not overly sweet since that's my preference. The roast itself feels nutty and chocolately. I didn't spend time in the shop, but noted that there was a lot seating, with cozy seating, as well as study seating. WILL be returning!

Great place to sit have a cup of coffee and be able to enjoy yourself or even a friendly conversation. Compared to many of the coffee shops I've been to in the area, the space has plenty of seating and seating for all types of customers, the casual coffee drinker at the bar, bar tops to sit and get stuff done or stand, comfortable cozy seats, and causal table seating with space to do work, homework, or hold a small meeting. My late and drip coffee both tasty and the barista did what she could to make a beautiful latte art even though she was walking it to me further away from the bar than me possibly her liking. She was so sweet and did what she could to let me get a good photo. The bathrooms were being cleaned as I was there, which made it awesome to know they were keeping up with it. My drip coffee was tastier black than when I added all the things, but still was yummy. Highly recommend this location and the Coffee Waves Chain.... Can we bring one to San Antonio now ;)

I remember seing this place affected by huricane Harvey. I stopped by 3 months after the hurricane, wanted to have some coffee and I remembered seing like a concession trailer parked on the parking lot. Not offering a lot from their regular menu during those hard times, but I don't believe they ever went out of business. Despite that horrible event in PA, now this place is a great cozy local coffee shop to be anytime of the day. Either breakfast, or dessert. I stopped for breakfast but I couldn't resist to have a starcciatela gelato. Hmmm so yummy, and refreshing during the hot days at Port Aransas. The menu has a little bit of everything. The staff is super friendly which makes you feel so at home. Stop by and relax you are on island time.

Had a little free time while working in the area and stopped in! So glad I did. My iced lavender latte was absolutely delightful, could actually taste the lavender. Also there was a perfect amount of ice (so often there's just too much ice!). Also they are requiring masks and staff wearing them, which I very much appreciated!!! This visit had mixed results. My one scoop of cookies and cream gelato was good but they've dialed the assortment back to six flavors and coffee wasn't one of them. My wife had a frozen blended drink that turned out well. Our friend got an iced americano......they forgot her order at first, then what they brought her was weak and bitter, she mentioned it and they brought her another stronger but bitterer version....she thought it tasted like it was made from instant. We did a lot of bragging about this place....her order wasn't up to their usual high bar.

Best place in Corpus Christi to get coffee - and gelato. The space is beautiful & the staff is really friendly. Love the laid back & relaxing atmosphere. Great place to sit & visit with friends or work on the computer. The pistachio gelato is to die for! Prices seemed normal for an independent coffee shop & hey you're supporting a local Corpus business. Isn't everything raising in price these days anyway? I will go back anyday! read more

I love the staff, atmosphere and some of the drinks. Unfortunately, their coffee tastes strange to me, and their prices are very high for a coffee house. It's a good place to drink and snack while hanging out with friends or passing the time on a laptop, if you can afford it. read more

I'm so sad to see flour bluff and downtown location closed! However, it's a wonderful place to have group studies or group hangouts. Occasionally I go there to study on my own because the atmosphere is so great, but make sure to bring your headphones so you can focus on your studies and not people watch. Baristas are wonderful. Majority are down to earth and will try and help you out with anything. I love love love ice cream, but gelato is way better, hands down! I don't know any ice cream addicts who doesn't like gelato more. In my opinion, it's worth the cost. Their coffee and latte's are wonderful as well! They'll make it however sweet or unsweet you would like it. And if you don't know what to get, you should try a dirty mexican sanchez. Just kidding, it's actually called a dirty mexican cocoa. Don't ask. Just get it. ;) read more

This is my favorite spot to hang out in Corpus Christi. As a nursing student, I needed many cups of Java to get through my endless care plans and studying sessions for tests. Coffee Waves was like an oasis, providing delicious cups of Java, smoothies, and (best of all) GELATO! I always ordered small and ended up getting the medium-sized portion because the servers were so generous :) They have free wi-fi and outdoor sittings, groovy bathrooms, and cool, relaxing atmosphere for studying. I totally love this place! read more

Probably one of my favorite places to lounge at in Corpus Christi. The vibe is just right, the music playing over the house system is great, and the coffee is good. I also ask for recommendations from the baristas and they've never let me down. I end up here about three times a week to read, write, and just relax. If you're hungry, try the chipotle chicken flatbread. Stellar. read more

My husband and I vacationed in Corpus and did a mini-coffee crawl (why? husband addicted to coffee). The coffee here was just not good. I had a cappuccino and he had an Americano. He finished his because he's responsible like that. I took a couple of sips from mine and threw it out. I can see why it's popular, it's got a nice vibe and I would enjoy studying there as many of the other customers were doing. I just wouldn't drink coffee there. read more

Nope. Sorry, but I have experienced this place multiple times. It is close to campus, so I have given it many opportunities to wow me and it has yet to happen. More times than not, I have found the coffee to be less than exciting (flat out gross on more than a couple of occasions), while the atmosphere is full of the students I work with. Not really a fan...too bad really, seeing as how it is so close to home. read more

This place was great. The espresso was delicious, and my ham sandwich was also delicious! The best part of my experience was the barista, who was friendly and lively (at 6:30am). We are visiting Corpus Christi for the week and he even wrote down a list of places for us to go! How nice. It's a great atmosphere with plenty of sitting space for conversation or studying. read more

I really enjoy coming into coffee waves. Some seriously talented baristas. I love the vibes you get when you first walk in. It really has a Austin feel to it, which is nice considering Corpus is a poop hole; and when you're from Austin, you try to find places that remind you of it! Decently priced as well and for the most part, pretty quiet! I will keep coming here, despite having a kick ass ninja coffee maker at home for the sake of supporting small businesses!! :D read more

Ahhh finally a cool place to sip good strong coffee and enjoy a really good banana nut muffin. Escaping the heat, free wifi, and chill seats... "Friends" vibe without all the loud people, just guys and A&M students on their computers... A bit out of the way but worth skipping that slow Starbucks. read more

Service is awesome, all the baristas are really nice. The only reason Coffee Waves doesn't get a 5/5 from me is that I've tried their baked goods and yeah, not so good. read more

My family and I stopped in (first time) later evening last week for coffee and gelato. Gelato was good and the coffee was fresh and tasted great. Service was very friendly even at the late hour. Had no trouble finding a comfortable place to sit. Nice to see a coffee shop with lots of space for customers. Cool art and stuff on the walls, has a nice feel to it. A fair share of under 25'ers pumped up on caffeine sitting around, looks like a good place for them to hang beside the bars. college is nearby. It may be a little out of most folks way, but if you're in Corpus and like good coffee I think it's worth it especially if you're looking for a later evening treat and fresh coffee. They're currently open until 12 midnight. read more

Not impressed. I was visiting my family and wanted some coffee so I decided to try this. I went Saturday night around 7 pm. It wasn't really busy so I figured we would get the coffee pretty quickly. I ordered a chai latte and a cappuccino nothing fancy. It took a long time. The people who ordered the chai latte after me got theirs first and then someone else came in and order a frozen drink and they were also served first. Once I did get the coffee I wasn't impressed with the flavor at all.. I doubt I will be coming back again.. read more

The quality of the drink you get depends on the skill of the barista you get as always. But I love their decor and atmosphere. A place to work and enjoy beverages without the staff glaring at you to leave. I so wish they'd tint the windows facing the street. Major sunset glare! I'm sure this place is great when you go in, but avoid the drive thru. The people working the window are a disaster. Plus you can't order while looking at the menu because of how it's set up. Second time at drive thru and its a mad hot mess. That's all. read more

Took more than 15 mins just to get the drink done. We were paying $6ish for a 12 oz matcha ice latte, something that we can get at Starbucks for a Venti size. The drink was not even that great either. read more

The original Coffee Waves on Alameda, was established in March 2008 and is conveniently located near the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus, We are open daily from 7 am to 7 pm and at this time we have our drive-thru open and taking to-go orders! Be safe Corpus Christi!

The atmosphere is pretty nice here and you can tell they have been here several years as the place is decked out with decor, plants and local artwork. My favorite was the grasshopper since it was loaded with ingredients and tasted almost like an ice cream instead. I also sampled the caramel macchiato iced latte and this was just ok. As other reviewers noted, they do not like you to sample the gelato prior to ordering, which I don't really like. I think they just need to have another person working behind the counter. Inside is lots of seating for either your small or large groups.

The shop wasn't very clean, and it seemed like the two employees working were either exhausted or simply not paying attention to basic hygiene. My hot fudge sundae had remnants of other toppings mixed in -- things I definitely didn't order. We almost left, but we were craving a simple ice cream dessert and decided to give it a chance. My first attempt on 4/10 around 2pm in the afternoon. It was just me and my 15month old baby, there was only 2-3 tables occupied and I was told 45 minute wait with an almost empty dining room. I asked the hostess due to me being 9 months pregnant and having a toddler if I could just at least sit down while waiting the additional 45 mins and was told no. So I totted out my baby and myself, bought pastries and left. The second attempt I was quoted an hour , waiting the full hour and checked back in with the hostess stand only to be told it was going to be an additional hour, on top of what we already waited again. Third attempt (Sunday, April 26) waited a full hour, checked in once again with the hostess and was told it is now going to be another 90 minutes on top of once again the hour we already waited. I understand waits happen, but this level of inconsistency feels disorganized and disrespectful of customers' time--especially when expectations are set incorrectly from the start. I'm just asking for transparency and honesty here. It's disappointing because the space is beautiful and I've always supported this business but the waitlist management and homestead stand seriously needs improvement on honesty and management of times.

I've had the apple (apple was okay) and blueberry and it has such a strange perfume-like flavor. The sweet dough on both tastes a little like perfume or cleaner. Not pleasant. Prices here are good with savory kolaches about $2.50 each and sweet ones at around $1.75. I will come back for savory goodies but maybe not for the sweets.

I am a regular at coffee waves (Alameda) unfortunately last Sunday I had a very negative experience which I would have never thought would ever happen at this establishment. I ordered my usual at the drive-thru (dark roast drip with chai) I sometimes order with gelato added and was told: "we can not do that" even though it's done all the time and was on the menu at one point if it's not now, I said ok. when I got up to the window the girl was very rude and said "I just want you to know I did this for you this one time but we can not add chai to drinks" I was so confused and taken back and said really?? I get it all the time and her response was "oh really? here at this coffee waves? well, I guess I've never taken your order before" when I told her I get it all the time but that's fine he then said, "well I've been here a year and we can't do that it's against policy". This girl had very poor customer service, she was not only arguing with me, but she was also basically calling me a liar and really seems to have no idea what she is doing! unfortunately, I will not be returning to once loved the coffee bar. before this experience, the baristas were always so kind and knowledgeable. I was really shocked someone like this would be working there. I like to support local but I guess i will be going to Starbucks from now on where they have never had a problem serving me a coffee with chai spice. very disappointing :( read more

On 1/10/11 between 11pm and 12 am I ordered a hot drink with a sugar-free flavor. Cashier took the order and asked my brother for his order, he orders the same and a little asian male employee butts-in and says real men dont add flavor to their coffee. I blew it off.......My order gets called out when ready but in a very sarcastic foofy way. I'm upset at this point and again I ignore it. Closing time..........employee yells "Coffee Waves is now closed, get the hell out". My brother and I and an older gentlement were the only customers there. I wanted to knoch the s@&* out of him.
