    Daily gumbo (chicken and sausage)

We stopped into Perrin's after leaving a spot nearby that we weren't really feeling. I am so glad we did! Unaware of the NOLA theme, we were pleasantly surprised with good vibes, and great customer service. Our bartender couldn't have been kinder and didn't even bat an eye upon ordering the gimmicky pina colada in an entire pineapple. He artfully crafted it right up and then asked what else he could do for us. Having already eaten, but salivating at the menu, we ordered a cup of the daily gumbo. I was instantly filled with regret for having eaten prior to coming as the gumbo was outstanding! I wish I could have refilled my appetite meter in order to try more from the menu. We hung around for a few more drinks and as we were on our way, the restaurant that had only two other customers when we walked in was filling up with what seemed to be a lively crowd as a man prepared for some kind of performance on the patio. As it was our last night, we had to get back and pack up and unfortunately couldn't stay as long as we would have liked. I absolutely look forward to coming back on a future trip and hope to find another great experience!

Drum and shrimp basket good flavor!

This is a new restaurant in an old location. Open and inviting. Interesting bar and I liked the coconut rita very much. Not many other customers there except at the bar when a group of realtors showed up. I asked if they had soft shell crab as in an earlier Yelp review but they looked puzzled and said no not for another 6 weeks. So that was disappointing but understandable as it can be hard to get. I tried the drum and shrimp basket with fried okra. Only three pieces each but they were cooked perfectly delicious. Seasoned with Cajun spices. The okra had a pleasant light batter and were fresh. I had their chocolate cake too and it was okay.. also a bit small for the price. Overall very good quality though the portions are underwhelming. I would likely find another restaurant next visit down there as the competition is fierce.

Lukewarm cornbread, taste is good, more warmth would be so good

It has been awhile since I have been here so I thought i would stop in for supper. The restaurant has an absolutely beautiful bar area and so that is where I chose to sit. Martin the bartender came over and greeted me and gave me the menu and I ordered my drink. My table was directly in front of a TV and enjoyed the programming. I ordered the Dinner Salad with fresh mixed greens, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, and onion with homemade Caesar Dressing. In addition I ordered French Fries and for Dessert I had a serving of their Homemade Carrot Cake, 3 layers of the perfect combination of carrots, crushed pineapple, walnuts and raisins with special spices create this delicious cake with the best cream cheese and butter cream frosting to top it off. The salad was delicious I enjoyed it very much. The French Fries were piping hot and there was a good serving to enjoy. Now the Carrot Cake was a dessert of beauty and I was finally glad to taste it. The first taste was absolutely delicious. The various flavors melted in my mouth and it was soo good. Again and again the flavors the perfect end to a meal. And I must say homemade what is not to like and they are not stingy with the serving size. I learned later that May, the owner, makes the Carrot Cakes, Homemade Chocolate Cake (Death by Chocolate! May's famous Triple fudge Cake with a Mexican Hot Chocolate Style frosting, topped with Hershey Chocolate shavings ) Homemade Chocolate Brownie (Homemade Ghirardeili Chocolate Fudge Brownie) and the last Homemade Dessert is Homemade Crème Brûlée (A creamy vanilla bean Custard topped with a crunchy BRÛLÉE Shell.) The salad was very good and who does not like pipin hot French Fries hmmm, yes. The Homemade Carrot Cake was absolutely delicious if I wasn't so full I would have tried their Homemade Chocolate Cake. I will come for one of their Entrees and their Homemade Chocolate Cake. I will come back again and again. Ya give it a try I think you will also agree it is soo good. Well till next time. Take care.

A hidden gem on the island! Called Perrin's , as we as a group of 7 were looking at 2.5 hour wait time at another restaurant, they had no wait time and welcomed us to come on over! We came in and the staff had our table set up ready with friendly faces greeting us. Our server, Bella, was amazing! She was not only funny and kind but genuinely cared for us! The food and drinks were amazing as well! Highly recommend the okra and pasta!

Chicken St Michelle, substituted with fried shrimp.

Yum!!! We came here last minute as a bachelorette group, we had SO much fun with our server Bella who was so funny and kind - and many other attentive staff checked in on us and were so kind. I've been trying places on the island for a while now, and while our favorites USED to be down below the bridge (IYKYK), this place blew those spots out of the water. This is our spot from now on, try the fried okra and drum!

This is what I was served. Disappointing, a very small bowl.

This was my second time at Perrian's. I like to go to place two or three times before writing a review. I gave it a two star as there was not improvement from the last time. I had the Red beans and rice with andouille sausage. Total disappointment, the meal came with under cooked white rice about a 1/3 of a cup, very bland red beans no Cajun flavor and three very over cooked thin sliced andouille sausage pieces. That is all the meal consisted of for $16.00. This is absolutely one of the cheapest meals to make, and should be a staple. Unfortunately, this meal missed the mark. If you say your authentic you should strive to be authentic.

This place is a hidden gem Corpus Christi has been needing a good seafood restaurant for many years and they finally have one now we went in last night for the first time met the owners. The food was outstanding and service was even better and if you like crawfish, they know how to do them, right best tasting crawfish I've had since I left New Orleans we are going back again tonight. I ordered the blackened chicken and pasta and ask the waiter to have the chicken substituted for shrimp. Ryan the owner came to talk to me and explained that it could change the taste of the dish with the sauce I said go for it. I'm sure it'll be good and it was outstanding he made an exception and made it for me. I suggest you try it. It was amazing. The Boudin balls and the skillet cornbread are very tasty! We had 4 orders of boudin balls.

The black drum catfish combo was 2 dye 4. Excellent happy hour...$2 drafts! That likely won't last long, but you never know.

We thought we would visit for dinner at about 6 pm . Place was totally empty when we arrived; a very wait person say us and very nicely waited on us throughout. I had the two bratwurst with red cabbage and German potatoe salad . Now usually to me , bratwurst should be full juicy sausages of a considerable size . What I got was a little better than two hot dogs that were cut in two length wise. The potato salad was somewhat greasy and not too remarkable at all. The red cabbage was only passable. The whole thing seemed like it was warmed up from lunch , in that it came out surprisingly quickly and was tepid rather than hot. Microwaved maybe even. My partner had pork schnitzel, spaetzal and sauerkraut. The snitzel seemed ok though tepid . The serving size though was somewhat smaller than what their online pic showed but my wife said that she didn't need anything bigger . My wife said the spaetzal was good though I tasted it and thought it seemed warmed up. The oddest thing is that the sauerkraut was mixed up with mashed potatoes. The texture was weird and it was missing the tanginess of sauerkraut and , again, tasted warmed up. Is this a way to "stretch" sauerkraut of all things? The problem is they just started dinner service I guess in the last two weeks according to our server . On top of all this it was exorbitantly priced . Whereas I might visit during breakfast, I may not fit dinner for a while to where they can build a better experience. The waitress was very nice and accommodating.

I have a new go-to spot when Im visiting Corpus and it's Neuces Whiskey Library!…read more I stopped in recently thanks to the recommendation of a local friend that knows I'm a whiskey lover. From the moment I walked in I fell in love with this space. From the dim lighting, to the elegant ambiance, to the cozy booth, and woodpaneled bar - I was immediately obsessed. Everything I tried here was absolutely delicious both from the food menu and the drink menu. I did a tasting flight (highly recommend) and sampled a few house cocktails. Neither approach will do you wrong and I recommend doing both if you have the time. For food we went with the : -sliders -charcuterie board - gnocchi -truffle fries And you can't go wrong with any of these. The sliders and charcuterie were the top two table favorites (although we may have been fighting over the last few truffle fries as well) Add this place to your list if you're in the Corpus area!

Upon arrival got seated at the bar as reserved and the place wasn't too busy. A bit disappointed as there was no greeting from the bartender, however the couple that arrived after me was greeted with the question of this being their first time and they provided their name. Seeing this was any first time, this courtesy intro would have been appreciated. Ordered the peniccillin which was decent. I was warned it's a very peaty drink (not sure I said that right) as it has The Peat Monster in it. While the taste was strong, not overwhelming and you can taste the smokiness. Got the aranciette and they were hot on the outside and just barely warm inside. Taste was good though. Second drink was an old fashion made with Crown Peach and just as tasty as I remember.

I really wanted to keep loving Bien Mérité, but after three attempts, I'm extremely frustrated. Each visit has involved inaccurate and constantly changing wait times. My first attempt on 4/10 around 2pm in the afternoon. It was just me and my 15month old baby, there was only 2-3 tables occupied and I was told 45 minute wait with an almost empty dining room. I asked the hostess due to me being 9 months pregnant and having a toddler if I could just at least sit down while waiting the additional 45 mins and was told no. So I totted out my baby and myself, bought pastries and left. The second attempt I was quoted an hour , waiting the full hour and checked back in with the hostess stand only to be told it was going to be an additional hour, on top of what we already waited again. Third attempt (Sunday, April 26) waited a full hour, checked in once again with the hostess and was told it is now going to be another 90 minutes on top of once again the hour we already waited. I understand waits happen, but this level of inconsistency feels disorganized and disrespectful of customers' time--especially when expectations are set incorrectly from the start. I'm just asking for transparency and honesty here. It's disappointing because the space is beautiful and I've always supported this business but the waitlist management and homestead stand seriously needs improvement on honesty and management of times.
