Outstanding. So many restaurants try to maximize profits by cutting preparation cost by serving calorie dense food loaded with fat and salt. But this place clearly takes pride in w hat they serve. My meal was very well prepared, perfectly made arepa with fresh guac and vegetables, simple but unique flavors that were well balanced instead of overpowered by salt. Horchata was fantastic. This was easily one of the worst coffee shop experiences I have ever had. From the moment I walked in, the place looked unsanitary and neglected. The environment did not appear clean, and it gave the impression that basic hygiene standards were not being taken seriously. The employees were rude, dismissive, and seemed uninterested in helping customers. The food tasted stale and poorly prepared, and the coffee was served cold and lacked any quality or flavor. The most alarming part of my visit was noticing roaches inside the establishment. Seeing pests in a place that serves food and drinks is completely unacceptable and immediately raised concerns about the overall cleanliness and safety of the business. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely disturbing. Management needs to make major improvements to sanitation, customer service, and food preparation. My wife and I were out for the day in the area and I was looking for a place to get pour over coffee. Coffeecol's website and Yelp indicated they featured pour over. Regrettably, they were currently unable to make the pour over coffee. Woman working behind the counter was nice and the Americano was a solid consolation prize. I was strolling along looking for breakfast when this place caught my eye. The sign outside read best coffee in town and I said 'bet'. Inside is cozy, and very in theme with a global coffee type situation. Showcasing a large selection of beans, pastries and other goods. While limited, there is some seating. I was greeted immediately upon entry. I asked if they had any 'iced fluffy drinks', told the barista I wanted the 'creamiest sweetest thing they had'. I was told about Tanzanian coffee being sweeter naturally and said I'd take that. Alas, I wasn't clear enough with what I wanted during, because she started what looked like the most glorious coffee making process. Each drip emitting a luscious aroma. When I asked how she was going to 'ice it', a look of disappointment washed over her face. I hadn't made it clear that I wanted cold coffee. She started taking things out of the fridge, asked what size I wanted (no giant venti type drinks here) and poured me a cold brew maybe? There seem to be less options for iced coffee than hot. So, after all the anticipation watching and inhaling the Tanzanian stuff, I was ready to taste this chilly brew...Regrettably, it was so weak. I was overly disappointed! Thinking about it now still saddens me. I usually take coffee as more a confection than serious strong adult drink. Always light and sweet, leche con cafe even! But never has it been this bland or lacking actual coffee flavor. I'm sure the hot coffee is a contender for best in town, but not the iced. My husband and I were in the area and were searching for a coffee spot. This gem popped up and saw people saying it was the best coffee they've ever had so we decided to check it out. My husband ordered the coffee with cream and sugar. The Ube cappuccino caught my eye. We have to admit, the reviews were absolutely correct. Both coffees were THE best coffees we've ever had. The coffee was absolutely smooth and rich. The Ube cappuccino was delicious, frothy and smooth. The guava pastry was a sweet treat too. We plan on coming back whenever we are in the area that's how much we loved it! We didn't get a chance to get any of the arepas or other sandwiches but we will next time. FIVE STARS for the coffee and sheer variety of sweet and savory snacks at this comfy though small cafe. However they served crunchy rice that was obviously undercooked and should never have been plated. Didn't finish it and didn't think it was a really a big deal until later as I tried to digest it and it's a really big deal after all. This place is definitely worth a stop if nearby and need a pick up or light meal, I'm just hoping customers can be aware of what I experienced so any issue can be fixed while they still can enjoy their meal. First time delivery order or eat something from here. The coffee was excellent. Great body, tasty, perfect temperature, enough amount. Today I picked two kind of arepas : One filled only with Colombian cheese and the other named " El Paso breakfast". The corn Arepa was fresh, tasty, big enough and the filling was excellent: scramble egg, cheese, jalapeños with vinegar, black beans. Cute place but smelled a little funky inside so we chose to sit outside. This place had tons of vegan options which is why we opted in to visit. Vegan patti burger arepa was decent. It tasted like frozen burger with store bought guacamole. The food was not impressive but was happy to have vegan option. The service was very good in comparison to other places. This is a very nice coffee shop. They make good arepas with all kinds of fillings. I tried one with cheese for breakfast with a cappuccino and thought it was good. The coffee was very good. The arepa was nicely toasted with a nice moist interior, and the cheese was nicely seasoned with some good savory sauce. The store was nicely decorated with coffee products as well as delicious pastries. They have comfortable seating areas as well as a couple of tables outside. The only problem with the place is it's location. Very limited parking on a very busy street, perhaps you can park around the corner but even there it's limited. I usually love to go to this place, I love the taste of the coffee and the service, but today my experience was unpleasant. The lady that was taking the order was nice at the beginning ,but after I ask how much longer do we have to wait her actitud change, her tone and gestures were rude and when she finally handled the order after 15 minutes ,she didn't handled the bag with courtesy. My boyfriend and I were craving mozzarepas (the sweet ones filled with mozzarella that you find at street fairs), and we stumbled upon this arepa bar on Yelp. Long story short: They don't sell "street fair" mozzarepas. Our server, Luisa, didn't even know what they were when I tried describing them to her lol. BUT THAT ASIDE, the food we had here was delicious at a GREAT price point, and Luisa was so nice. We shared a basket of 6 mixed mini empanadas (3 chicken and 3 beef), I got the Three Seasons arepa and Dulce de Leche frap, and my boyfriend got The Queen arepa and the Matcha Green Tea frap. - Mixed mini empanadas: Delicious! The pastry dough alone is amazing. However, the two sauces that accompanied it, pink sauce (ketchup+mayo) and hot sauce, overpowered the taste of the empanada with the tiniest dip into it. I preferred the empanadas without sauce. - Three Seasons arepa: Not even close in taste to the mozzarepa I was initially craving, lol but it was very flavorful and surprisingly filling! Loved the "three seasons" mix of chicken, beef, and shrimp. - Dulce de Leche frap: Sadly didn't taste like dulce de leche at all, just a basic coffee frap, but it was good. - The Queen arepa: My boyfriend liked it but said it was nothing special. - Matcha Green Tea frap: He really liked it! Just the right amount of sweetness. If you've ever been to The Tea Bar in Fort Lee, it tastes just like their green tea bubble tea but without the tapioca. I highly recommend this place. Luisa spoke highly of the burgers and fries here, so we might have to give those a try next time! *UNRELATED TO COFFEECOL, but if anyone knows a place that sells "mozzarepas" (look them up on Google if you're not sure what they are) near Bergen County, please let me know. Must have been an off day for this place. Everything was horrible. The pandebono was hard and tasted like it was out too long. I love this place. I started coming here 8 years ago when I moved back to Jersey and it soon became my favorite spot. With my mom, with girlfriends, with my kids and we all love the amazing coffee straight from the owners family farm in Columbia and their awesome empanadas! I missed sitting at the little tables during Covid but I didn't give up the yummy coffee. 1/2 way during this time I had to switch to decaf, and guess what? They make the best cup of decaf ever!! It would be ideal if they created small nooks to attract the students that want to spend time in the shop since it is located close to so many schools in the vicinity. They have a good ambiance nonetheless with chalkboard displays and menu boards. It was my first time trying arepas and I can say I was definitely pleased with the use of spices in the ingredients. The empanaditas chiquitas (mini empanadas) were crispy outside, flavorful filling inside. We ordered both chicken and beef. There's a salt type dusting on the outside of the masa (outside of the empanadas) that my husband and I felt wasn't needed. But in no way did it make the mini empanadas taste bad-we just think they're fine without it. My in laws loved them as is. The cappuccinos- really good. A touch of cinnamon and just the right sweetness. By the way, my husband and his family are Colombian and they thought the food is like what you get in Colombia. Authentic. I love this place. I found it via yelp and stop by whenever I am in the area. It is delicious, cheap, comfortable, and the employees are very friendly. There is also free wifi and outlets! There are tables with very comfortable chairs and the decor is clean, pleasant, and cozy. All of this makes for an amazing place to work. Really there are no downsides. The café con leche is delicious and I always get a cup. The fireman arepa was great. I've also tried some of their deserts which were good. My only arepa experience to date has been carnival stand versions that are closer to overly sweet corn muffin patty sandwiches overflowing with cheese. Apparently arepas are more of a cornmeal (not sweet though) patty sandwich of anything you want! Turkey, roasted peppers, mozz, avocado, veggie only, meat only - have it your way. My classica was filled with a generous portion of scrambled eggs. It needed salt and pepper, but was cooked expertly and served folded and in a wrapper like a crepe. The lemonade was fair, but tasted a bit more like crystal lite or powdered style mix than fresh. Not that it promised to be fresh, so no loss there. This is officially my go to coffee shop, snack and meal stop in the Teaneck and Hackensack area. read more
