We got an Aussie pup last fall and quickly realized that we were out of our depths in working two full-time Jobs and trying to raise, train, and set boundaries for Moxie. Our trusted Vets at the East Sacramento Veterinary Center referred us to Kelli of Coffey House and we couldn't be happier with the results. We set Moxie up with both board-and-train and frequent daily sessions and the results were astounding. Kelli has (almost) infinite patience with both our dog and us. She has smoothed the integration of an Aussie wild child into our house with a 15-year-old Aussie and another small dog of about the same age. We continue to participate in Kelli's evening alumni (my term, not hers) meet-ups and really enjoy being part of the community that she has created. We all realize that dogs, like children, remain unfinished projects into adulthood. If Yelp had a six-star rating, I'd click it.

To say Kelli has been a blessing in our lives would be an understatement. We got our sweet boy Rocco as an ode to our beloved Lucas who passed away suddenly. Lucas was half bull terrier and half pitbull and a whopping 70 pounds. Deciding to scale back a bit, we opted to get a miniature bull terrier and figured since we were familiar with the breed we'd be fine. But, boy were we wrong. We struggled with his stubbornness (a bull terrier thing) coupled with him breaking his leg at four months old which really set him back mentally. Once recovered he was so overstimulated by the outside world on walks that he would freeze, sometimes in the middle of street, which was super unsafe. Then he'd become uncontrollable should a person approach him, and since he was a puppy, that happened a lot. Even though he was small, he was becoming incredibly strong which we were also worried about as he grew. Then, once home, he'd terrorize his smaller fur sister Callie, and guests coming over was out of the question, since he'd jump crazily on them too. Insert an email plea to Kelli for help, and our world has forever changed for the better. After his two week board and train, he was given the tools needed to focus and become the obedient boy we always knew he could be. While with Kelli she would send us videos of his progress and I was shocked. You could tell he was having so much fun and just had a strong desire to learn and please her. Once back with us, we kept up with structured training, as well as incorporating training into our daily lives and he has transformed into such a great pup. Does he still have his moments? Absolutely! But do we both know how to work through them now? Yes! Before Kelli, our days with Rocco had more frustrating moments than good ones. Now, we're able to stay calm and get him to refocus which makes for a much calmer and happier pup. We cannot thank Kelli enough for being such an amazing trainer and for her continued advice and support. In fact, we've loved working with her so much, we're going to be enrolling our 4 year old pup, Callie, for some lessons since we've found she has her own things she needs to work on. Trust us when we say if your dog is making you pull your hair out, call Kelli. You won't regret it!

We sent our fearful dog to board and train for 3 weeks with Coffey house. I think I found her on a moms group and took a chance. She was very knowledgeable of dogs and was so helpful even weeks before his training started! We are not ones that just have a lot of money for things like this but after our dog bit our neighbor and got out of the house we knew we had to do something. Since being home he has been a new dog! We do have work to do since but I know he has the fresh start he needed to be around other people and dogs unlike before training!

Kelli never once was "scared" or "surprised" or "horrified" by Ellie's reactivity like many others have been.

This is extremely overdue (like, close to a year.. I'm so sorry Tierney!)…read more Working with Tierney was a wonderful experience! She is extremely knowledgeable about all things dog training and it shows. I'm so glad we didn't try and teach our dog on our own, it's been a big learning experience for us. Our dog Mishka is fairly sensitive, when we originally started to try one training approach Tierney quickly saw that it wasn't right, and pivoted to a different approach. That's been working great and we have seen such amazing improvements with Mishka since starting training. We can't thank Tierney enough! She's also was very flexible and accommodating to our time/budget/etc. to make training possible.

My dog was probably one of the last dogs before they closed the location. After more than 3 years,…read moreI still regret so much for taking my dog there. I adopted my dog and he was extremely nervous. Zero contact with humans since he was born. Only like other dogs. I left him 2 weeks initially but Tierney would tell me that he needs one more week and he ended up being 5 weeks there. I cooked and gave them his homemade food. I provided the food for the whole time there. I was not able to visit him and they brought him back to my house. When I saw him, I was shock. He was in his bones. I could see all this skeleton. She said that he just didn't eat a lot. ...why didn't they call me ? Then, in the house with the handover of my dog, she acted like a Military, basically my dog fear her. I didn't even want to see trick that she showed him" because I could see the dog was suffering only with her presence. She left and I was glad that at least I had my dog back. I had to take him to vet to check and he was in extremely bad health condition. I gave her my dog perfectly healthy. I really regret taking my dog here and I recommend that if your dog is humble and afraid dog, don't take them here. This is not the place for those type of dogs. After this training, he didn't change at all- still bark, still pull and more afraid of people than before .
