Part of its charm for us was that there were so few people there on the weekdays we visited and we felt that we had our own resort Pros: -AMAZING STAFF- each and every employee we encountered at copamarina was friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were having an excellent experience- it was honestly impressive. We were wowed. - beautiful pools and hot tubs that are truly taken care of and properly maintained- there is no gross cloudy water which we experienced at many other places - in addition to the pools the entire landscape was manicured and well cared for- more so then any other place we visited. They truly reinvest in their property -wonderful food- every meal we ate here was fantastic!! Their tuna tartar was my favorite! -clean rooms and ours emptied right onto the ground floor lawn from the back so we could be in the pool in minutes- other rooms were in buildings and we truly felt we had the best spot -kayaks available and bikes for short bike trips around the property - they are working on adding an even more beautiful welcome area and lounge. They are also working on building another building that is completely detached from everything else and nowhere near rooms. I see some people complaining about the "construction" but it absolutely did not affect our stay and there was zero construction noise. It seems crazy that someone would give them 1 star for doing a great job at improving this beautiful property while not affecting the guest experience in the least. CONS: - NO SWIMMING IN OCEAN- We didn't realize you could not swim in the ocean. The water is 2 inches deep for hundreds of feet out and if you wanted to swim you'd have to go out to the dock but we don't recommend it because we saw hundreds of jelly fish. We enjoyed the pools so much that this wasn't a huge deal for us but we were disappointed for sure -Ridiculously expensive spa. I had the most expensive massage I've ever had even though it started late and was ended early. Gratuity is built in...but then they still ask you to tip on the screen so beware -you have no other option but to eat here unless you want to drive far out- it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. Meals are very expensive. Expect to pay $140 for dinner for two and know that the more casual restaurant is closed when the "fancy" restaurant is open which limits options further -they make you pay for kayak rentals which felt yuck since they are already charging a resort fee and you can't even swim in the water so most people rent the kayaks for something to do. $35 an hour? Felt crazy. Also do not attempt to kayak to Gilligans island if it's even a tiny bit windy. The kid working the kayaks told us it was fine and we felt we were lucky to come back alive as we were tossed around in the waves.

The check-in process was very smooth. Being across from the plaza was a nice addition. Some of the things that could have been better were: *Allowing the patron to change the temperature in the room. I had to go downstairs to request the temperature to be raised three times. *The phone in the room did not work. Nor did the remote control for the tv but the receptionist got cups for me and a working remote. *The safe in the room was broken so I had to take my personal items with me. *When returning from having my room cleaned, I found my opened soft drinks and coffee that were in the refrigerator were thrown away . I didn't speak to anyone about it because I still had a couple of days to stay there and wasn't sure how it would have been accepted. *The bathroom products (body wash, soap, shampoo and conditioner all smelled like medicine not green tea) and I killed a roach in the bathroom. *Because the room cost was very good, I didn't mind that they had "snacks" instead of a basic continental breakfast. Although I had a coffee pot in the room, there were no cups. I know this sounds like a lot of complaints but if I'm being honest, it was just my experience however, it would not stop me from coming back. I would just be a little more prepared for the small things. It's my hope that if someone from the hotel reads this, they can just make a few changes. Personal atento y agradable. Tiene un restaurante muy lindo en el área del lobby pero no pudimos probarlo, será en otra ocasión. It is surrounded by medical facilities, a Cathedral, and a plaza. This wasn't a hotel surrounded by tourists. I felt like I was the only person touring the area. The town was beautiful and clean, especially around the hotel, and plaza. A wonderful bakery is just around the block. It is open until midnight. I spent every evening sampling a fresh baked good. Amazing flan of all kinds. The rooms do smell of mildew. The sheets are often damp from the humidity. It's hot and humid, and the wood from the cabinets are very strong smelling. Although the rooms are clean. One large downside to the hotel are the bells of the Cathedral which ring a great deal. Although, after a week or so, I got used to them. The building itself is well designed. Lots of balconies, pool, food areas, and views. The ceilings in my room were 25 feet high. The main lobby is very modern and clean. The Tapas restaurant was clean, and enjoyable. The staff were very nice, and fun to chat with.

I have to start by extending a sincere thanks to my mother-in-law, who booked rooms for our extended family during New Years '24-'25. My wife and I had been to Boquerón once as part of an island roundtripper in 2018, so it was great to revisit the area with my young children. Aquarius Vacation Club sits along the southwestern edge of the island in the Cabo Rojo municipality. We stayed a total of 2 nights and the accommodations were better than expected. Beds were comfy, solid hot water pressure in the shower, spacious rooms and living areas, well-maintained grounds. The resort lost power briefly during our stay, but a backup generator helped keep the lights on...temporarily. Their open-air restaurant, Piscis Café & bar, was very affordable. All 11 adults came here for breakfast each morning and enjoyed a variety of juices ($3.50) and coffees ($3) with our food. Most of us got the standard 2 eggs any style ($8) that came with choice of meat and hash browns. Simple but tasty. The pool area included a splash pad for younger kids and plenty of chaise lounge chairs for adults to lay on, although I wish they would've had more spots in the shade. They also had a game room with DDR, Cruisin' USA and a couple pinball tables, sadly the latter were broken :( why y'all gotta tease me like that? There's beachfront access to Playa Boqueron for those staying at the resort, and you can rent kayaks or jet skis not too far from here. The plaza was absolutely buzzing with activity at all hours of the day, but the numerous bars & restaurants really come alive at night--we even saw street karaoke! For me, the highlight of the visit (hell, the whole trip) was watching the year's final sunset with my wife on a jetty. The hues of orange and magenta swirling in the early evening sky were better than a painting, just two people in love watching the sun go down. *lets out a longing sigh* * TL;DR * I couldn't have asked for a more idyllic way to close out 2024. I felt relaxed, I got some much-needed rest, and I got to watch fireworks from our hotel balcony with the people I care most about. Never spending NYE in icy cold weather again! All kidding aside, everyone had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend Aquarius Vacation Club as a place for families to stay. Rates are roughly $125-$150 per night. This is an adults only hotel. The rooms are modern in design and comfortable. Service is very good and responsive to concerns or issues. Parking is limited and the hotel is in the heart of activity. Each guest receives an armband that is used to access the room and other areas in the hotel. Love this, but a bit of a panic if you lose it as the replacement is not cheap. The area is slow Monday -Thursday and begins to pickup for the weekend. There is scuba diving, snorkeling, boat trips, restaurants and shops concentrated in the center of the area. What is not understood until you arrive, is the music. I listen to music all day, if I can. However, somewhere around 9 pm-10 Pm ,I'm ready to turn off the music. My spouse and I were there for 3 days and did road trips most of the day returning to the hotel late in the evening. The pool area is beautiful and there is a restaurant available. At midnight, the music continued to blare as well as the loud conversations. This made it difficult to sleep/rest after a long day of hiking and exploring the island. One night, the staff began to power wash the restaurant area with music playing. I give deference to workers always and know they work for very little for the work they are asked to do. As the conversation and laughter got louder, we did ask the front desk to speak to the workers. This did quiet the hotel a bit. The thing here is that if you like a lively place with music until the early hours in the morning, this is the place for you. I ate at the hotel and had a tapas: Montaditos de Langosta - Lobster in aioli sauce over fried plantains. The description was mouth watering and what came on the plate looked curious, but it was absent of flavor. The langosta was hidden. This is the crab cake dilemma: too many fillers that the delicate state of the langostino is lost and you have to rely on memory to know what it tastes like. Fried plantains are as good as anyplace, but less the reason for the tapas - though I love plantains. The last morning, I had French toast for breakfast. This was the most beautifully presented breakfast I have ever had. Typically, when french toast comes with whipped cream, it can overwhelm the plate but this was done well. I truly enjoyed the meal until I got to the center of the toast which was undercooked. This is also a moment I have experienced many times before: French toast not fully cooked with a soggy center. It reduces what would have been an A+ experience. Truth be told, I would have it again, but ask the chef to "make it a bit crispy" to see if that solves the problems. They do get an A+ for presentation and taste.

The streets are vary narrow one ways so it is essential that you get a smaller vehicle and upon entering the area we thought we'd have to park on the street; however, they do have a small parking lot but the spaces are tight (not an issue if the hotel is not busy). As for the accommodations, they were very good! They are your basic rooms (at least the one we got) with mostly everything you need (there is no microwave) and very comfortable beds and pretty quiet for the area. No restaurant on site but they do offer some light snacks and beverages for purchase. This property also has a small laundry room (very clean) with one washer and dryer and it is coin operated only at 2.00 per wash/dry which is greatly appreciated since I always do laundry before packing up upon return. There is also a small gym as well as an outdoor pool with just what you need and very clean. The lobby area was very warm and inviting with nice decor. The employees were all very nice, friendly, and accommodating. This is also a very "green" hotel, which I love as they have three recyclable containers for plastic, paper, and cans which is appreciated; however, they can be a little "too green" as there was never enough coffee nor toiletries replenished in our room so I had to constantly ask, but I get it as they do not want to waste any supplies unnecessarily.
