Don't understand the low stars for this firm. Cory Rein is an excellent attorney. He is handling a family member's case. He was referred to us with the recommendation that Cory does not overload himself with cases, he prefers to dig in and get to know his clients cases thoroughly, completely. I have to say that so far--that is exactly what is happening. Cory is incredible, and so is his gifted Paralegal Jill Jenkins (Hi Jill!). Jill is Very responsive. Both of them are very organized. In court, I have never seen an attorney more prepared. He had a binder with tabs to cover any single thing that opposing counsel mentioned, no fumbling or looking for things, no ahhs or umms. He is VERY prepared in court. It's obvious he is totally at home speaking in court, he's a very experienced and effective litigator. No BS, no wasted words, and Cory *completely* out-lawyered opposing counsel at every turn--so far. If you have a case unlikely to settle, Cory is the type of attorney you dream of finding. Thank God we were referred to him, and he agreed to take the case. Cory is our third and last attorney, we have an extremely high-conflict case, and he's managing it with ease, whereas the last one absolutely could not deal, even after being warned. Cory is unrattled, has no problem calling things out, being an aggressive advocate when warranted, firing off a letter in 15 minutes getting action(!), and gently pulling back when it's not in the case's best interest. Jill has a great sense of humor about it all, so refreshing. Jill also writes very powerful Declarations out of "word salad," so gifted. The best part about Cory is he literally takes the Reins (pun intended) and takes action, he plans for all outcomes, and he is not afraid to use the law and courts, none of this "lets not rattle the cage" bs. --Yes, please, I want to rattle the cage, I'm sick of being nice, I'm done *taking it* and I'm ready to dish it out.-- Cory is your man. He is several steps ahead, bringing forward strategies and motions while we are still processing what just happened--Cory is halfway to the next goalpost. Corey was hired to get me 50% custody of my kids. Assigned me a guardian up light em and a Date of Separation. He Failed to do all of these things and made things much worse. I hired Cory Rein at a very hard time in my life to navigate the ins and outs of an interesting, to say the least, divorce/custody trial. In 2014, I hired an attorney at this firm to assist me with my divorce proceedings, in which my husband had filed the petition and I had filed a response to his petition. Once the lawyer had secured $2,500 of "retainer fee" money from me, he reassured me that the amounts I'd deposited into the firm's trust account would cover the expenses for my case, unless we went to trial, which was understandable. A little over two weeks after hiring him, this attorney had already spent over half of my deposited funds claiming he'd prepared documents on my behalf. I never received or saw any prepared documents for filing with the court. Within two and a half months, he'd spent all my retainer fee money emailing me (his own client) nearly three dozen times, to clarify if my case was still open or had it been closed; he insisted that I needed to prove my ability to parent my teenage daughter who I'd been raising since birth or a judge would most likely not give me custody because she still lived in the family home and I did not; and lastly, he was completely baffled about how to proceed as my lawyer if my husband wasn't ordered to pay me alimony because I didn't make very much money to take care of myself and my daughter. Each email regarding my case was instigated by this attorney and each response to his email that I provided, was a charge of his time to read my email back to him and to "review case file" at the rate of $185/hr. In the end, I confronted him in writing about his lack of legal understanding, which he charged me to clarify for him! Twice, he insisted that he didn't "agree" with my assessment of his work and then wished me luck with my dissolution. I contacted the state bar association with my concerns about this attorney's lack of ethical procedures. The bar association was completely unconcerned and basically stated that if you give a lawyer your money, it's theirs to spend as they wish. Additionally, if I was seeking reimbursement of funds or damages, I'd need to hire another lawyer to prosecute the lawyer who did nothing but email me messages and flip through the pages of my case file. Hiring a divorce attorney at this firm left me, and my daughter, worse off than if I'd hired no attorney at all. read more
