I would like to start this off with a clarification. The Cohasset Tailor Shop is NOT the Cohasset Village Tailor Shop. Anna is the owner of the Cohasset Tailor shop and has been for about 25 years since 2001. That being said, Anna has been very helpful getting my pants fitted in time for my business trip. I went back and forth all day debating about leaving a review, I never want to leave a bad review aimed towards any small business but this was not okay. I should have listened to Yelp. I dropped my bridesmaid dress off 1 week in advance, told the tailor I was wearing flats. I pick up the dress and I'm still tripping over it, so I politely call and ask if she can take it up maybe a 1 /1/2 inches. Zero issues on the phone. I walk into the shop and she immediately tells me "I'm charging you again because you didn't bring shoes!" I specifically told her I wasn't wearing heels that day and she disregarded my request. I am 4'9" so always need sleeves and pants shortened. Anna always does a great job. normally there is a two week wa as her services are so in demand, especially prior or proms, weddings and other special events. However, ,it is worth the wait. read more

Hope you're not in a rush ...!! The women who own this taylor shop is not to be taken for her word. She's overwhelmed in a bad way... She has consistently promised delivery of alterations - in this instance a pair of trousers and then takes months, literally, to finish them. Inexcusable and not even a hint of remorse from her. Kind of like 'I'll get to your order when i feel like it. Tough luck.' We're talking attitude here.... The quality of the work is just average. So, if you have a better place to go - then go there - not here. Supporting a business that doesn't deliver what is promised is not worth supporting. And forums like this are sometimes the only recourse we have to fairly inform other customers. Buyer beware!! read more

After having used this shop years ago I figured I'd try it again. When I brought my clothes in for alterations a woman came in to pick up her order and it wasn't ready even though she had a receipt for that days date. I should've ran then. A week later when I returned to pick up my order it wasn't ready and she tried telling me I had the wrong date until I pulled out my phone (for the date) and the receipt to show her that my clothes should in fact be ready. I returned the following day and a pair of shorts were still too big and she was blatantly upset because "it's a lot of work to fix them." I returned today, for my second order and I have never received such poor customer service. She was extremely rude as I walked in, saying, "I knew you'd be back." She criticized me, said she's being doing her job for 15 years and this has never happened to her. She even accused me of losing weight in the last two weeks. I explained to her that I hadn't, that everything else had fit me fine but the shorts were too big in the waist. She gave me a horrible attitude even after I told her she was being rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend this tailor to anyone as she doesn't value her customers and is very degrading. Her tone and attitude was absolutely unacceptable. Additionally, if you don't like dogs, beware. She doesn't stop her dog from running towards the door barking at you when you come in! read more

Warning do not take your clothes here! I dropped my daughter's jacket off at Cohasset Tailor Shop on 10/28 for a zipper repair. The business owner gave me a slip indicating that the jacket would be ready on November 10. I returned to the shop multiple times after 11/10 to pick up the jacket and every time I went to pick it up the store was closed (despite going during business hours). On 12/2, she was open... however she he told me that that the jacket wasn't done, that she would do it that day and text me by the end of the day when it was ready. She never called. I went back 12/9 during business hours... again the shop was closed. December 14th I went in again and she told me it was still not done but she could do it by the end of the day. This was now a full month and a half after taking the jacket in for a new zipper and it still wasn't done. I told her that I just wanted my daughters jacket back, that she said 2 weeks ago she would do it the same day and now here we are. I told her this was really bad business and asked why she agreed to do it in the first place. She did refund me but instead of being apologetic she told me to look around and see how busy she was and that she's the only one there. She's a very bad business woman, terribly rude... and you may never get your clothes back! read more

She is very talented- the best I've found after living here 19 years- but she seems to be short-handed and so the clothes aren't always ready when she indicates (typically two weeks). However I can't find anyone better at what they do so unless it's a simple fix/hem that I could give to someone else, I just give them to Anna and know it's going to take a while. I've asked her to do some very complicated alterations over the years and she's always done a beautiful job. read more

I have had a winter coat that I brought in in July 2020. It is there for a zipper replacement. I went to check on it in September 2020 and pick it up. she said it would be ready in 2 weeks, I understood the delay because of covid. I went back in three weeks to pick up the jacket and it still was not done. I live one hour away so for me to drive up there takes 2 hours total. I tried to call but the number I found she was not reachable. I have been up to the shop multiple times and the jacket is still not done, it has now been 8 months. this jacket is for my brother who is mentally challenged and unable to take care of this for himself, and is needed so that he can go snowmobiling in Vermont with his dad, and I can't make plans until I get the jacket. I have just found the correct number I believe, no answer when I called no answering machine. She has never attempted to contact me. I am at my wits end at this point. At this time I would think twice about using this tailor. read more

The tailor agreed to take side seams and two darts in an expensive brand new dress I needed for a wedding. She also said could have it ready in two days. I thought I would be trying it on when I went to pick it up she said it's all set, At home I unwrapped the plastic and saw that on either side of the darts in the back, the fabric was damaged from ripping out an incorrectly stitched dart. She blamed it on the fabric. Said she has been in business for 19 years .... She said she could not even see what I was upset about. She refused to think she did anything wrong. In my view the dress is ruined. I have never been more disappointed in a "tailoring job." Please do not make the same expensive mistake that I did. read more

Terrible experience... I went there for the first time in mid February to have an expensive pair of silk pants with a pattern shortened rather than doing it myself as I would normally do. She gave me a date of Match 1st and charged me up front. My husband went to pick them up for me on March 5th, but she couldn't find them first and then when she did they were not done. She had a valid question about the work but never called e to ask it. When I finally got back there on the 9th of March and asked why she didn't call me she was rude and did not apologize. We resolved the issue and she said they would be ready the next day after 1:00. I returned the next day at about 2:00 and she had not done them and actually complained to me that she was too busy. She accused me of being rude when I was upset that she expected me to return again! Then she chased me to my car saying I called her a B---, which I had not up until then! I took my pants, which she took the time to pull all of the pins from and left. Do not even think about going to this person. read more

What a rude, ignorant business owner. Nice as pie to lure you in and then when you pick up your alterations you get a big attitude as though she did you a favor with no hello, thank you or goodbye. I never write reviews but just got out of there and had to put it out there. Keeping my fingers crossed that my alterations came out okay. Take my advice, go elsewhere. Plus the facility is filthy and she's ridiculously expensive. Never again ... read more

I was promised pockets to be sewn up by noon the next day. I went in at 1pm the following day, and the woman "forgot" to do them, and "someone else came in," so she worked on others' clothing and failed to complete this for me as promised. We will NEVER go here again! read more

While I've never been displeased with the results from this tailor, I only went back because it was the closest one to me. The turn around time is quite slow (3 weeks for a suit, 2 weeks for pants or a zipper replacement). You have to pay up front and in cash or check, and the prices are a bit high ($18 for a zipper replacement). The ladies are always decently pleasant but their English isn't amazing and a few times I was concerned they didn't understand what I was asking. They're always upfront about what they can't do or what won't work well, which I appreciate. I had my prom dress altered there, and the woman suggested a certain placement and insisted on a certain amount of fabric for it because otherwise it wouldn't work. The dress, though, was supposed to be ready a week before my prom and when I went in to pick it up they said it wouldn't be ready for another few days. I went in the day before my prom and they told me to come back tomorrow. I insisted it be done tomorrow because obviously that's when the prom was, and though it was finished then I was extremely concerned I wouldn't have a dress to wear leading up to the prom. My pants hemmed there have been fine, the replaced zipper was fine, and the dress turned out well. I also recently had a suit tailored there- it was a family friend's who is a few sizes larger than myself, and though the suit definitely fits better than it did before, I'm not thrilled with the results. It's still a bit big and doesn't hug me correctly- I'll probably be taking it to another tailor to get it altered again, which I shouldn't have to do. All in all if you have something not too complicated that you don't need right away and this location is convenient, go right ahead, but otherwise look for a different place. read more
