Really the only place l could find that did prescription lenses on any frames. I just bought the Echo frames from Amazon and a lot places I tried couldn't add prescription lenses to these. Even though Cohen's have never done this before with these frames, which looks extremely difficult with the tech in these frames, they were able to add prescription lenses and looks great! I was referred by 800contacts because my script expired. the price was good, I think 100$ for exam I think there are several doctors that work here. Mine was very good, personable and unfortunately it was her last week there. She gave me a few choices of contacts as samples to try before writing out the prescription. My only problem was the eye exam room is peculiar......closet-like, cluttered and filthy. I cant believe no one commented on this! They could fix this in a weekend with a cleaning and trip to IKEA to get some storage and organize. read more

Nancy & Neila never fail to deliver. I walked in for a pair of DITA sunglass frames that I wanted to turn into my every day prescription glasses and was hesitant on what they would like because of the frame style, I was advised to add a minimal amount of blue tint to the actual lenses. After a few days I got the call that the glasses were ready and OMG they turned out so much better than I imagined. Extremely happy with the service and getting tons of compliments on the eye wear. I walked inside the store not knowing that I would find the perfect glasses for me! For a small store compared to the many other stores in the Galleria Mall, there was a pretty wide selection of glasses of all sorts. From basic glasses to designer glasses. With help from my friends and the associate, I narrowed down my options to two glasses. One was you know a pretty basic type of glasses and the other was a high end designer one. I remember very well telling the associate that the higher end glasses were too expensive for me and she quickly asked either the manager or the owner (I don't remember) to see if she could give me a deal on them and she DEFINITELY did! Although she gave me an amazing deal for such expensive glasses, I still ended up getting the more basic one because it fit more my style. I was a little worried because I was going on vacation in a couple days and from previous experiences I either had to pick up the glasses a weeks later or have them shipped to my house, but here I got them in 30 minutes!! Overall great service and experience P.S. I did have my glasses prescription on me at the time because they do indeed ask for them like any other store. read more

2.5 stars Cohen's has some good thing's going for it. A good selection and a staff that nicely let me try on half the pairs in the store before settling on something that I liked. However Cohen's sells [as best as I can tell ] all their frames at MSRP. Now I know we live in a supposedly free and open market, and they can sell the frames for whatever makes them happy, still. . . As a consumer who does his homework I knew that the frames I settled on were selling for 150.00 less everywhere else. Now, for good service, I'd be willing to overlook this, but then the girl gave me the price on my lenses. . . $300 for 1.67 high index? $600 for 1.74? Seriously? Our market isn't THAT free and open, is it?? So I made up some story, took a business card and left. When I got home I ordered my frames from a reputable dealer for the lower price, and had them fitted with 1.67 thin n lite lenses with crizal, and uv, and scratch resistant coating. Even with shipping on the frames I only paid a little more than 300, which is about right. So, In summation, a decent place to go have play time and to see how those frames you see on a some website fit you, but with the prices, I think you're better off *buying* somewhere sane. read more

SUPER efficient, good service, decent price. This is the fastest I've ever gotten a new pair of contacts. I tried to order from 1-800-CONTACTS only to discover my prescription had expired, so they referred me to their network of providers. I was a little skeptical about going to a place in a mall, but I work just across the street from the Galleria so decided to give it a try. Scheduling was very convenient; I could have gotten an appointment that same evening, but opted for the next day over my lunch hour. The paperwork was very minimal and I had to wait less than five minutes to see Dr. Anosike. She didn't talk to me much, just ran a few tests and wrote me a prescription, but answered my questions adequately. She was incredibly efficient and I walked out with a trial pair in less than ten minutes. I've worn contacts for over 20 years and there's nothing particularly unusual about my eyes or prescription. If I had more specific needs and questions or were making a change, I don't know that this would be the best place, but for a busy woman who knows what she needs and wants it fast, this was perfect. read more

I would avoid this location. The doctor was 30min late on lunch break. I don't know if they setup the appointment at the wrong time or she just took off. I have little faith in the staff, so I am guessing they set it up without paying attention. Either way the doctor was less than personable. That I could live with. The staff is TERRIBLE. They never order anything on time. Any inquiries over the phone are immediately forgotten or ignored unless you call back and harass them. I mean it takes days and "their computer was down or they forgot to write my number or they forgot how to spell my name or they've been busy for 5 hours straight"...tons of excuses. I have been in there and they aren't that busy except to chat with each other about nothing work related. I mean no one is in there at 2PM on a Wednesday. This has happened multiple times. It isn't worth the hassle. I will never enter that shop again. Save yourself a lot of headache. read more

Definitely avoid this place. The salespeople are super helpful and really nice, but the doctor makes you feel like you're inconveniencing her throughout the whole process. I've gone to this store several times over the past three years to check out the assortment. Thus far, have purchased two pairs of eyeglasses there, both of which have lasted me for several years. The first pair I purchased, I unfortunately lost, which was a great green/grey pair that was on-sale. Have not found that model anywhere else, even on the net. The second pair I purchased was a pair of Flexon Nike glasses that have lasted me this whole year and are still going strong. People have complimented these several times, both at work and while out and about. I feel like the selection is great at this store (and I've checked out South Shore, North Shore, Square One, Prudential malls and this is the best store I've found thus far). The store representatives have always been kind, patient with me (as I've tried way over a dozen pairs every time I've visited) and have (successfully) suggested eyeglass colors that match my hair/eyes well and the shape of the glasses matched my facial shape too. This is something I could have done on my own, but thankfully did not have to do the research and let the experts do their job, which they did really well. When I had to service my first pair of glasses (when I hit them a bit hard and the glasses cracked a bit), they did the job in just over two days and had my glasses as good as new. Also, this past week, I went back looking for replacement coating for the handles on the glasses, which they were happy to re-order and replace for me (they knew exactly the part number and color I needed). This place is one of the places I'm happy to know I can call or stop by at any time and get my questions answered, glasses repaired, or helped to find new suitable ones, without any hassle. Glad to pay the slight premium over Internet stores for such individualized service. read more

I live in central square surrounded by atleast 3 optical shops, but I will go out of my way to go to the Cohens in the Galleria mall, because it is always a pleasure. The woman who works there, I believe her name is Yenifer, she is one of the reasons why I keep going back. The shittiest experience and customer service ever! I had been looking for the perfect frames for about 6 months, I finally found them here. Actually I found a lot of frames I liked. They were all kind of expensive but it's worth it for how much they effect your look etc. Anyway, I bought the frames, they did my lenses and a week (! took long enough!) later I came to pick them up. They had some weird cracks or smudges in the left lens. I took them back because they have a 1 year satisfaction clause. They didn't see what I saw. Yes they were subtle, but when I look through them all I see is glare. I had to wait another week. I got them back again, this time they had the weird smudges/cracks/scratches whatever on them again, but this time it was worse, and in both lenses. I took them back and they said they didn't see what I was talking about and wouldn't re-do the lenses for me. I've worn glasses for 23 years, I'm pretty blind, but I have never had this kind of problem with lenses before. I took them to Eye Q and Cambridge Eye doctors for second and third opinions. They agreed with me, that there were marks on the lenses. They both said it's from the chuck being too tight on the grinding machine. I got signed affidavits from them and took everything back to Cohen's. They still denied the problem. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and to them to small claims court, these were expensive glasses! The judge made them replace my lenses a third time free of charge. I picked them up and what do you know, the messed up lenses are still there, and they cracked part of the frame. The manager would give me attitude and walk away when I would try to discuss my issues with her. Yes, the selection is really nice and very cool, but it's simply NOT WORTH THE MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS!!! read more

I had been a customer of the Lenscrafters in the Galleria Mall for years, dating back to their days as Eye World. I had been provided with excellent service by a woman named Ali there for years. After she moved back to Ireland, the quality of the customer service there dropped immensely. I took my prescription over to Cohen's in the same mall when I most recently needed glasses and was very pleased with the quality of service I received and the $99 lenses/frames special. A young man named Rodney there provided me with very good customer service. UPDATE: I went back there for another pair of glasses a few months later. I discovered that Rodney had left. When I asked the woman behind the counter a question about my prescription, she actually started yelling at me. I walked out of there and won't be back. (I just bumped them down from 4 stars to 2 stars.) read more

Reasonable selection at reasonable prices (at least for a brick and mortar store in Boston) but I had a really weird experience. Found a $99 pair of frames I liked. My insurance covers frames up to $130 and then 20% after that. So $99 frames should be free for me and $99 for the insurance company. However, when they checked my insurance coverage in the computer, they put the price of just the frames in as $200. The lady behind the counter said because of the insurance they had to put the frames in at at least $130, if the frames were less than that the insurance wouldn't cover it at all. How they came up with a figure of $200 is beyond me. I can only conclude that either the staff is majorly incompetent or they are committing insurance fraud. Actually ended up finding similar glasses and frames, including shipping, for $32 at zennioptical.com, which is a heck of a lot cheaper and is completely covered by insurance even though it's out of network. read more

The nosepieces fell off my ancient glasses a while ago, and I hadn't gotten them replaced. Read: I awkwardly dropped and adjusted my glasses every 20 seconds for three months. Then one fine day, while pillow-hunting at Sears, I literally stumbled into Cohen's. In five minutes, a very kind salesperson replaced the nosepieces and tightened the screws on my glasses. He didn't charge me anything, only asking for a dollar donation to an organization giving people vision care around the world. I left Cohen's seeing clearer and feeling grateful for good people. read more

Over paid for a exam and when I told the "doctor" I saw the ad ON THEIR WEBSITE for a $30 exam she laughed in my face and said "we don't do that here". I dropped(Sunday) off a pair of glasses in need of repair I called on Tuesday because no one called me on monday (they said they would call on Monday to let me know if the repair could be done) and I was told that the glasses could not be repaired, went to pick them up on Thursday and behold they were in two peices when I dropped them off they were in one piece.........I was lied to and was not met with anything close to customer service but they did try to sell me on a new pair ....needless to say I was not happy with my experience there.....I have purchased eyeglasses from them in the past at the Boston location but never again and I urge all the eyeglass wearing public DO NOT go to Cohens ...you will be very unsatisfied! read more

I went in with the idea that I wanted another pair of funky-looking plastic frames, but was convinced to get something else. I'm glad I went there because I get tons of compliments on my glasses. I bought a good pair of glasses but they didn't fit and hurt my ears. I returned them for an exchange. I had been told that a certain group of titanium glasses were $349. But when I came back for the exchange, I was told that the titanium glasses were $450. I told the lady that I was broke and couldn't afford it. She lowered the price to $400. This was still $50 above the original $349. I bought them. I was mislead. Let's face it. Cohen's tries to get the highest prices. If you want to save money, order from the internet. You can get the same designer frames. If you want Sarah Pallin's glasses, look it up. They are reasonable. read more

I had purchased a pair of rather expensive Tom Ford glasses from this store a few months back. I'm from out of town and had informed them that I would not be able to come back if anything was wrong. They assured me that they would get my prescription filled correctly so I trusted their word. I told them exactly the lenses I wanted installed (150 readers) and was told they had done them correctly. However, after I got home I visited my optometrist and he said they had put in 100 reader lenses. I feel like they took advantage of the situation, knowing I was not able to come back since I lived in CA.
