Run. Don't go there. No one knows what they are talking about. Especially when it comes to coverage. They try to sell you things like they are selling you a time share. They make you keep coming back to the store to do things when it is unnecessary. It has been a nightmare. I wasted hours in that place and then on top of it my prescription seems to be off. One eye is still blurry. I need to go to my old doctor. If you go there or even call them and hear a hint of nonsense or something seems off, go with your instinct & leave. Trust me. Who needs Netflix when I can follow the drama of "Will They Ever Send My Prescription and Contact Lenses?" I never had to post a review in my life, but if anyone is considering Cohen's Fashion Optical as their next service provider, please read this carefully. I have been waiting since June for my contact lenses and prescription, which I paid for in full, yet have still not received. Before deciding to post this, I tried several times to resolve the issue privately, but Cohen's never responded to any of my emails. Timeline of Events: * June 16, 2024 - I booked an appointment for a contact lens exam through Cohen's website and received a confirmation. When I arrived, I was informed by staff that I would need to wait for a call from their office first--something never mentioned in my confirmation email. * Rescheduled Appointment - During my rescheduled visit, I waited over an hour for the exam. Although this was inconvenient, I understood that delays happen. However, instead of the contact lens prescription I had booked, I received a glasses prescription. After raising the issue, I was given a quick contact lens test and assured my contact lens prescription would be emailed the next day. Yet, despite paying $170 for the exam and lenses, I received neither the lenses nor the prescription. * Several Weeks Later - I returned to the same Cohen's location near closing time at 6:45 PM, only to find that employees were leaving early. While I understand that employees may occasionally leave before the official closing time, this experience was frustrating. * Another Visit to a Different Location - I then tried to resolve the issue at a different Cohen's location, where I learned that locations don't have access to each other's prescriptions. While I understand data security policies, having a centralized system would make the experience far more customer-friendly. I was told to contact the original Jersey Gardens location and request that they send the prescription by email or fax. Despite calling and being assured that the prescription would be sent, I never received it. Upon further follow-up, I was told that "they were just about to call"..., no email or fax had been sent and, astonishingly, that no contact lens prescription existed. How could they sell me contact lenses that day without prescription? * October 29, 2024 - Frustrated, I sent an email with proof of payment and detailing all the issues I'd experienced, from the missed prescription to the unprofessional customer service. I explained the ongoing problems and requested an immediate resolution. No response was received. * November 7, 2024 - After my October email went ignored, I sent another follow-up, requesting help for the second time in writing. Yet again, Cohen's did not respond. Not only am I dealing with a missing prescription and contact lenses I paid for, but Cohen's also appears to be ignoring my communications entirely. I wonder if Cohen's offers a loyalty card for each attempt to resolve the same problem? After ten, I might qualify for a free apology. read more

Had a great experience when I took my daughter for an eye exam and new glasses today. While my daughter was waiting to be seen, the receptionist (didn't catch her name unfortunately but she was very friendly and helpful) assisted her with finding the right pair of glasses. Dr. Feldman was super nice and explained every step of the exam thoroughly. Our Sales Consultant Daniel was a great pleasure to work with. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us find the most savings! I would definitely come to Cohen's at Jersey Gardens again. read more

Customer service was mediocre. One woman told me to wait over by a section and someone would come help me. 10 minutes later no one helped me and finally someone told me I had to sign in. Which meant three people that arrived after me were seen first. After making an appointment, which they stressed was necessary I found they made more than 4 appointments for the same time. Needless to say I had to wait over an hour to have my vision exam. I have insurance and they could not figure it out, calling me back up several times. If there was a way I could give this place zero stars I would, everyone there is interested in taking your money and getting back to their social media, horrible experience, I'd rather go blind than to ever go back here again, what more could I have expected from a glasses store in a mall, I won't be making that mistake again, they charged me extra money for sun tint on my lenses and didn't even use my insurance they just charged my card without even notifying me. I come 10 mins before my appointment time (10:50am which is the first appointment of the day) because i have things to do on my off day so im waiting and 11:15 now the front desk girls for eye exam arrive. They stand around talking for another 20 mins to the front store employee's without putting their stuff down even. 11:40am now and still they havent called me up. No one cares here, staff is very unprofessional. What is the point of making an appointment when i still have to wait an hour to be seen not because they have other customers (cause im the only one here) but because they dont care for the customer. Never coming here again. I rather drive to Woodbridge which is further from my home than come here to be treated so low. I went to jersey gardens mall to get my glasses CLEANED, not fixed or adjusted, at cohen's (where I bought my glasses in the first place) and the associate broke my glasses?!? The manager said they could crazy glue them back together for me or that I should just buy a whole new pair...which i didn't even need! It wasn't until I put my friend on the phone she offered 50% off...but the point is, she BROKE THEM and i don't think i should have to pay for something that was not my fault. I proceeded to call the corporate office to explain the situation and they were shockingly rude and unhelpful. The lady who picked up the phone claimed she was the manager and that each store is independently owned and there was nothing the company could do. I was very upset and offended because I really think they took advantage of me. In summary, DO NOT BUY GLASSES FROM COHEN'S FASHION OPTICAL!! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY. I went to fill a prescription in frames I already brought and buy contacts. It was a Thursday around 6pm. The mall isn't busy. There are two receptionist and two women between the counter. The two women behind the counter are both working with one family. So I waited and waited. No one spoke. Once they were done with the family before me, I thought I was next. Both women behind the counter looked at me and continued to talk amongst themselves. The one woman [who I later find out is the manager] even told her coworker she was in a rush to leave. I realized no one would assist me so I left. I returned a week later to speak to the manager. As soon as I saw her she spoke and asked what I needed. I told her about my experience of her ignoring me when I wanted to spend my money and she said that's too bad and wanted to know if I still wanted to make a purchase. Then I just looked at her for a minute and walked out. I don't think she understands customer service is part of the experience of spending your money. I had a good experience at Cohen's is JG Mall. They are all so nice and helpful. I went for a eye exam and ended up getting a full medical eye exam which tells you not just your prescription but also tells your how healthy your eye is!! The staff are GREAT!! ( mangers included) and makes one feel so comfortable and they actually care about what glasses one might pick. I would highly recommend this place if one does not have a appt. you can always walk in like i did !!! read more

I made an appointment on zocdoc and arrived on time after it was confirmed. After telling them I had a scheduled appointment, the staff listed me as a walk-in and made me wait over an hour to be seen. When I asked them why I waited so long for a scheduled appointment, they told me the doctor was "on break". I only got to see the doctor after trying to cancel my appointment. I had a wonderful experience 4 years ago when I came to this retail location for an eye exam. Let's just say things have changed particularly with the staff here. First of all, they have you stand outside the store so that they can let you in for a temperature check, which I appreciated. However, the lady administering the temp check was not wearing a mask AT ALL. What's the point if you are not following state guidelines. On top of that, there were too many people crowded into a tiny space not adhering to social distancing. I'm giving this optical retailer 1 star because they lied to me. They told me that they were an in-network provider for my insurance when in fact they are NOT. They have people working there who are completely clueless about how to deal with insurance and I caught them in the act trying to get me to spend more money than I had to. No luck talking to the manager. When asked why I wasn't told the truth about whether they were an in-network provider, her response was "I can't control what they told you". The Optometry team at Cohen's is top notch. They worked with me and my needs and took time to make sure I took breaks between difficult testing machines.( I have epilepsy and some eye testing machines can trigger a seizure.) The retail staff was intolerable. They were double teaming clients that walked in wearing expensive clothing, jewlery, etc... and ignoring clients with insurance that had been waiting. I realise that it's a commission based industry, but you cannot treat customers this way. Every paying customer deserves the same respect, regardless of where their money comes from. This type of snobbish behaviour is reprehensible, especially by the store manager! She should be setting the bar for her employees not lowering it! I will look into the Doctor and inquire if she intends to move. I would absolutely love to go back to this doctor... if she was at a DIFFERENT LOCATION. Other than that I will NEVER waste my time or money there again! read more

RUDE!! If I were to summarize my experience today it would be that the sales reps were inpatient, rude, and completely unhelpful. When I asked about an eye exam they pointed at an empty desk and said to check back later. When I asked to look at frames or see if they accepted my medical coverage.. It was clear they couldn't be bothered. No one else was in the store for most of this but i was treated horribly. In the end I spent 30 mins. In the store trying to push for an answer about coverage or an eye exam and left without an eye exam appt. Nor could i see a single pair of glasses. I will NEVER return there which is unfortunate because it is so convenient. read more

I had an appointment at 3:00pm and they called me right away which was great. One star because the costumer service was really bad, most of the employers had a bad attitude and even thought some of the girls I talked to looked hispanic they wont speak spanish which is my first language... but thats not the problem. One of the girls told me that my insurance covered a $130 frame but she said all frames started at $250 and that I had to pay the difference... THAT WAS NOT TRUE!! 10 Min earlier another woman had told me that I could choose from certain frames and the price ranged between $100 and $250. In addition, one of the frames had $100 written on it, so I asked the girl, you are telling me all frames start at $250 but what about that frame that says $100??.. she only said "ohh" and looked at me like "whatever". The frame I chose I supposed it was around $120 because she wasn't able to tell me the price, she just said it is fully covered. Anyways, the frame looks very cheap, I do not think it costs more than $50.. I have the feeling they put high prices on very cheap frames and tell you those are the ones that you insurance cover. When I got home I checked online in the optical at target and I found they have Armany Exchange frames at $99, $120...The exam itself was okay, they use a bunch of different machines to check your eyes and the Dr. was okay, neither bad nor friendly. They are all fast paced. If you are going to pay out of your pocket $300 or more for a frame, who knows maybe they will be more friendly. Probably It was not their day or they wanted to spend valentine's day differently instead of being working. Now, I have to wait 8 to 10 days to get my glasses. Hopefully they are fine. Overall, I was not comfortable in that place and I did not feel they were willing to help. Next time I will try somewhere else. read more
