Very stylish, very expensive and terrible quality. Even though I just needed reading glasses, I was convinced to buy progressives, (for a total of $850), which I'm still not used to, and often grab my cheap +1 reading glasses instead. What's worse is within two months, both lenses are not only scratched, but are smudged, and I cannot get them to look clear. When I went to the Court Street for replacement lenses, (again, after just two months), I was told I need to go to the city for the replacements. What is going on here and what's with the attitude? Over two weeks later, I'm still waiting for the lenses to arrive, and then I'll spend half a day going into the city for replacements. Extremely inconvenient. My advice: Go to Warby Parker, find cool-enough frames, and enjoy the great and friendly customer service at 1/4 of the price! Huge Regrets!! read more

I purchased a pair of miltzen sunglasses around 8 years ago. They held up great, looked super, and kept snug without much adjustment. Unfortunately they were lost on the subway one sad December day. If I were reviewing the glasses, it'd be 5 stars all the way. But no, I am reviewing the shop on Court St., which is wack. The shop is too small, and I had to nudge my way past the one or two other folks in there over and over again. It didn't feel like a very fun or easy process. The kids they ship in from Oklahoma or wherever to work there are too-cool-for-school, and not helpful. To be honest, I went to a lower quality, cheaper competitor also in the neighborhood, where I had an easy and friendly experience. As a fourth gen NYer, I never thought I'd drop Moscot for the start-up from who knows where, but so it goes. P.S. hang on to your miltzens tight on the subway read more

I will never buy glasses anywhere else. The sales staff are knowledgeable, friendly and pleasant. The optometrist is professional, thorough and extremely nice. I've good luck here. The frames I'm quite fond of their designs (that's subjective of course - your result may vary) and happy to deal with an independent glasses company instead of the large chains. The folks who do the eye exams are lovely. The staff behind the counter are lovely as well. Frustratingly, Moscot has dropped a number of insurance plans like VSP (technically they are an Out-of-Network VSP provider). Not to be rabble-rouser, but it seems like a signal that they are trying to move upmarket and maybe leave their working/middle-class LES past behind. Honestly, I love my Moscot frames and I do need new prescriptions in them but it's going to be a +$600 fee. Hard to justify when I can get brand new ones elsewhere via insurance for almost nothing. Had been going here for years for sunglasses, and after having a bad experience at my usual eye doctor, decided to try their optical services out. Wasn't disappointed! Very friendly as always, and the eye exam was quick and painless. They ran a number of tests, and were quick and efficient with their work. Could tell that they know their stuff, and also care about their patients and quality of service. Best of all - you can use your insurance for Moscot glasses! Had a few hiccups with the glasses as the lenses weren't what I expected when actually in the glasses, but they were quick to reorder adjustments after thoroughly exploring different options with me, and got my perfect glasses one week later. This optical store is divine. I started with a thorough eye exam with Dr. Jackie Chang. She does all the tests, answers all questions, and gave me the impression that she was very interested in delivering top-notch service. She radiated confidence and somehow corrected my distance vision to 20/20, which was a first for me. The staff was knowledgable about every piece in stock. The stock has an unmistakeable "designer" look. The staff helped me to choose frames that suited me. All in all, I recommend Moscot without reservation. read more

I have a pair of sunglasses from Moscot that is very well made, sturdy and has the really dark black tint that can be hard to find from other (often cheaper) retailers. If I want sunglasses, I'll probably come back here. Unfortunately, I won't look forward to the process one bit. The customer service is hugely variable at this location. I had a great customer service person the first time I went but it was a couple years ago and I forgot her name. Even at that point, the store was so full of people reaching and elbowing that it took about twice as long to accomplish the selection process as I had hoped. Can't blame Moscot for their own popularity, though. I just went in yesterday and had rubbish customer service. I have no idea if I can use my insurance plan to get an exam at Moscot. I brought my insurance card but the new employee was too new to know all the ins and outs of which plans offered discounted exams. No worries, right? That's why the more experienced employee is there. But the more experienced guy made me feel like I was a huge pain in his day. He didn't know if I could get a discount and wouldn't even look at the card, explaining that I would have to do the research to find out who took my insurance. Here's another piece of evidence to the previous reviewer who said the Moscot tagline should be "I could care less". Furthermore, I got the overall impression that the more experienced salesman thought I was a total loser. He didn't believe me when I said I had purchased from Moscot in the past and didn't offer to show me any frames or help make a small measurement that the new employee was about to do when the experienced employee stopped him. I realize I'm not a "cool" person. But I don't need that rubbed into my face when I'm just trying to schedule an eye exam and start the process of looking for prescription sunglasses. The new employee was much more helpful and not at all condescending. Maybe fire the existing employee and give the new guy more hours? read more

If I were to write a tagline for Moscot it would be "I could care less" after not hearing about the status of my order for a week, I phoned in only to discover that they had not heard from my eye doctor (although they had read my prescription when I purchased the glasses and were capable of making the lens from that). It would've been nice to get a phone call to let me know they had not heard, but worse yet, they had no regrets, and certainly no offer of a hasty re do. my general policy is, if this is how they are in the beginning of a relationship, best not to get into the relationship at all! read more

The frames are high quality, very fashionable, and --in comparison to frames found in other major optical retailers -- reasonably priced. My insurance cut the price of my frames down to 55 dollars! Anne is extremely helpful and not only gave me frames I wanted to try on, but also she game me other frames that I might like. My four star review is due to one male employee that works on weekends. He helped me fit two glasses that I bought from Moscot and each time he made the glasses extremely uncomfortable on my face -- even with my constant feedback on what should be adjusted. I've had to go to another Moscot locations where their employees actually felt my face in order to help adjust my frames for perfect fits. After my frames were properly adjusted, I can't imagine getting glasses from another company. read more

Ok I never ever downloaded yelp before . I personally hate when ppl use this app to just complain but I had to do it for my new fav shop for glasses. For starters the guys that work there are super cool! I stumbled in after doin some shopping on smith and instantly fell in love. The guy that works there, Dai is the coolest dude ever! Not only did he find the beat frames that I would have never had the courage to try on, it was like talking to one of my best friends! Honest feedback and input. Dai immediately made me step out my comfort zone and try some colored framed and I fell in love! ! I will definitely be back because my best friend already wants to steal my new frames! Dai you rock! I stopped into Moscot to have my eyeglasses adjusted (which I had purchased elsewhere 3 weeks ago), and the salesman broke the frame within 10 seconds. He didn't even heat them beforehand. He didn't apologize and told me that it must have been a manufacturing defect, which was ludicrous as these were brand new. These eyeglasses cost me $500 and now I have to buy new frames because of this man's incompetence. I do not recommend this store to anyone and I will never go into this store again. read more

Do not buy progressives from here. I bought a pair, which were about $800 and they were useless. They actually made it harder for me to see and seemed to have no coating on them to resist smears. I spent a year thinking that I couldn't adjust to progressive lenses until I got another pair, which are clearly much higher quality. They don't get smears and smudges on the lenses and I adjusted to the progressive lenses almost immediately and without any problem. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE AND GET YOUR GLASSES HERE. I write this in all caps as the rest of this review will likely be TL;DR for those who don't appreciate fine Yelp literature. Have no connection to Moscot, just live in the neighborhood. The background... About 3 years ago, I was notified by a kind friend that I had terrible glasses. That's how you know somebody's a good friend. I made frantic searches to address the situation and finally settled on Moscot. I got glasses in the East Villiage and was set. I no longer looked like a moron. Followed this pattern for years. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I bring what I think is an "Opthalmologist-grade" prescription to a couple of new places to try something different. Having been so lucky with Moscot the first time, I got adventurous and tried Sea on Smith and realized that plastic #selfie cheetah glam wasn't quite right for a 41 year old father with a career that involves math. But if you are 19 and have no reason to look professional, that store is your jam. Anyway, I finally end up at the Court Street Moscot - where I should have gone from the beginning. Where the crew there performed the following gymnastics: - Fit me up with impressively high quality titanium frames with new lenses - Identify that my super Opthalmologist prescription is super wrong - Do a professional job at obtaining my REAL prescription (contacts too) - Replace the new lenses for free with right Rx - And do it all next day. Roger helped me with the selection, sale and has 1000s of hysterical stories. Hayley is equally a riot and arranged everything to be so incredibly fast and accurate. Haydee assisted with my fitting and gave me the now priceless advice of how Dawn and strong paper towels return glasses to new (when cleaning in a pinch). I hope this Moscot posse stays together for a while. In a time where so much change in Brooklyn involves shuttering grocers, hardware stores and closing down stores that sell what you actually need to live, it's nice to know there's a reliable place I can get nice glasses. read more

I went in and had no idea what I wanted. A very helpful lady showed me three frames two fit so well I had a hard time deciding and the third I didn't like much. This sales person knew the size frames and style that would work with my face just by looking at me. My lady friend and I were both shocked at how spot on she was. Ended up buying a pair because of how perfect the fit was and had no intention to. Really wish my insurance had helped a bit since the glasses and lenses are on the pricey side but overall l am very happy. read more

There are pleanty of 'eye glass places' on Court Street but none are matched by the great service, line, and know-how at Moscot. Each sales person we spoke to was more helpful than the last, there was no pressure put on us to select a frame AND they actually gave me breathing room to make my selection. After doing the Brooklyn eye glass tour - Pearle on Montague, then Lens Crafters on Court, I stumbled into Moscot. The nice man behind the counter asked what I was looking for...I sighed the overwhelmed sigh of a glasses newby and said "I guess I'm looking for glasses." "I think I can help you with that," quoth he...and off he went. He took frame after frame out of the counter for me to try on, listened to my reactions and comments, and eventually located the perfect pair. I've never been excited about the prospect of wearing glasses before, and now I can't wait to get my new glasses. They have a great service plan, and the glasses seem to be excellent quality (which is good, because they are a bit pricey). The store is really cute, too. read more

The frames are cool and the staff is helpful for finding stylish frames for your face. I've bought 4-5 frames here over the years, and while they fit well enough to leave the store, they never fit perfectly. I thought it was just me. But now that I have found well-fitting frames elsewhere, I would recommend Moscot if you want stylish eyewear but not necessarily old school opticians to find the best frame for your face. read more

I've worn MOSCOT prescription glasses for the last 6 years now and love the quality and style. I think it's a great brand. I recently had a fit issue regarding MOSCOT glasses I purchased through another optical store in Minneapolis. Robyn at MOSCOT and various customer service reps listened to me, came to understand my issue, cooperated in taking the MOSCOT glasses back that they didn't even sell me back, and got me a pair of MOSCOT glasses that fit great! Recently my young daughter tore the arm off of one of my pairs of glasses that were clearly out of warranty. The Moscot team replaced the glasses free of charge and with no questions asked. So the eye doctor was great--five stars for her. But the bad review stems from the greed of this place and all that is wrong with the healthcare system today with bogus "services" and costs to insurance companies and ultimately us, the patients. I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years now. I've been wearing the same type of contacts for ~10 years now. Eye examiners have tried to fit me with different types of lenses, but ultimately they are too uncomfortable because the shape of my eye is somewhat atypical, so I need to buy them online -- most places don't carry this type of lens. Well again at Moscot I explained that I wear a specific kind of lens and that eye examiners try to fit me with different kinds and they don't work! When I showed the doctor they type I wear, she agreed--I should stick with that lens and buy them from the vendor that I use because Moscot doesn't carry them. Then I get a call from Moscot claiming I owe them for a contact lens fitting . . . I told them I did not receive a contact lens fitting and they said they were sending me a trial pair. I said no, no trial pair and they said ok and that was it . . . Nope. They called me back 5 minutes later and said that I spoke to the doctor about my contact lenses and that constitutes a $60 contact lens consultation charge!! SERIOUSLY!!! I'm going to look into reporting them for this--this feels like fraud and again what contributes to all that is wrong with the healthcare system today. Shame on you Moscot! read more

I wish I could give this place -5. The customer service is crap. I bought a pair of frames here, happy that I would show off my moscots to everyone. However, I got my lenses from GVS, as that they had my prescription already. But after I picked them up from GVS, I changed my mind and felt like the glasses didnt fit my style anymore. When I requested a refund at Moscot for the frames, I was denied. The manager claimed the frames were altered by Davis Vision. I called Davis Vision just to confirm this, this was false. Even GVS said you cannot alter these frames. I am convinced Moscot only cares about profit and not about their customers. The manager had the nerve to give me a discount off of my next frames because I was unhappy... WTH?! I'm trying to get my money back not spend more money in your store. Jeez. God forbid, if you want to return your frames they will give you some bs excuse. Please dont even waste your time here. Go to a place where they're not money hungry and possess some type of integrity. Smh. read more
