This is the go to theater in the area! It's always clean and the employees are nice enough. The chairs are comfortable and the spacing between them is nice you're not right on top of the chair next to you or the row In front of you! Concession was as expected and littered with different current movie swag to take home. There are always great promotions going on here and fun things like mystery movie nights and bringing back old classics to enjoy on the big screen! Def keep an eye on their rotation! Thanks for a great experience! :) Almost forgot: only critique is the drink carriers need improvement. Each carrier only holds two drinks and the handle is impossible to reach comfortably. Stop the Nonsense!!! Let me start off by saying, the Theaters are completely empty. That means you (Regal) need ME, more than I need you! Been a year or so, since I went to the Theater for a movie. My nephew asked if I would take him to see Scary Movie today, and I figured it might be a nice afternoon out. So, I went online to purchase tickets. Two Adults = $40, just to see the show. And, it's going to cost me another $30 to get my nephew some popcorn and soda. That is $70 for two adults to go to the theater to see a FREAK'N MOVIE. Not a broadway show. A MOVIE !!! - that we can watch on TV in a few more months. Now, don't get me wrong. I get the math. I worked in a theater, in my late teens. I understand that theaters make very little money on the sale of tickets, which is why they have the need to charge $30 for $0.12 of food product. I Get THAT part. The icing on the cake is the $4 'convenience fee' to purchase your tickets online. Yes, please charge me to take my money. We can debated for days, about the 'convenience' and the cost to cover your web servers, etc. But STOP STOP STOP. Millions of outlets sell merchandise online and don't gouge us with convenience fees to do so. This is just another fee, in a world that has completely exhausted consumers with fees and tipping. IF $70 is in your budget, for two adults to go see a movie - hey, knock yourself out. Enjoy it. But with the current economy, this pricing is wack-a-doodle. I purchased two tickets, an hour before the movie. Including my two tickets, there are a total of 6 seats sold, one hour before the movie. FOR HANDICAP ACCESS: (seeing as online info isn't great): Best way to get in is to park near and go in entrance #3, which is between PF Chang & Barnes & Noble (on LEFT of front facade of mall). There is a curb cut and auto-doors. There is an escalator there in the center of the building not far away, but a little farther away in center is a silver door with an elevator to take you right to the 3rd floor. Escalator requires a longer walk, as you have to take one staircase, then walk a bit to get on the 2nd escalator. Elevator opens to you being right at the ticket & snack area on the 3rd floor. LOTS of accessible seating in the theaters, but a light blanket might be needed as it's chilly. Women's bathrooms have 2 accessible stalls, but tile floors which might be slippery for some. I went to see the Superman movie tonight with my family. There were about four other people in the theater. We were enjoying the movie when about a half an hour into the film I got a text so I instinctively checked the phone as I have some health issues and I am trying to coordinate some medical visits- my doctors are booked solid so they have me on standby for cancellations. As background, I am a 56 year old Navy veteran and a ground zero first responder who was diagnosed last year with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma- a blood cancer very prevalent in ground zero responders. I went through chemotherapy and radiation therapy so I should be in remission. I was laid off at the end of my treatment and lost my medical insurance. Recently I got new insurance so I am trying to reschedule the appointments that I could not previously pay for without medical insurance. So when my phone beeped I instinctively checked it and a young Regal employee came up to me to tell me I could not have my phone out. I told him I was just checking something and that I only had it out like five seconds and I told him "but you know that as you just saw me take it out". He said the light from my screen would bother the other customers. While I was seated I asked him " are you seriously going to bother me about the phone". He called security and the manager, a security guard and the cashier came to escort me outside of the theater. When I asked what the issue was the young man said I was using my phone- I asked him what I was doing and for how long he said I was looking at the screen for a few seconds and then I put it away. So I asked again what was the issue and then he said that he had felt threatened by me. I reminded him in front of his manager that I was seated and I had put my phone away. My family came out and I explained to the manager what had happened. I reminded him that I was seated not to mention he was bigger and younger than me. When I asked where does it say I can't look at my phone they said there is some sign somewhere and then the security guard said that I could have been recording but I asked the young man if I was recording since he was there within five seconds of my checking the phone and he said no. So I asked him what was the issue he said that I was threatening- again I was seated in the plush low seats. The manager refunded all of my family's ticket money. Admittedly, I could have answered the young man better and normally I would have apologized but I honestly was so freaking surprised how quickly he was at my side since I had just picked up the phone and our conversation was less than 15 seconds- maybe ten seconds then he called security and within two minutes the manager, with a broken arm, security guard the cashier and the young man returned. Legally, I am sure the theater can find a reason to justify kicking me out for a transgression that happened over the course of a few seconds where a phone was viewed for less than ten seconds and no recording happened- this was corroborated by the Regal employee but when should common sense come into play? I thanked the manager for refunding our money but I also reminded him that he was in charge and that his employee was the one who escalated it by calling for security within ten seconds of our conversation when I had already put the phone away. Legally, in this fine print world we live in, they undoubtedly have a way to kick me out but morally, just because you can do something does not mean you should. If you have had a similar bad experience please chime in here. Bad and abusive service only works when it is isolated but it gets exposed if there are more instances to document it as a pattern. I am a 56 year old that finished chemotherapy and radiation therapy in Mar who was seated in a movie seat next to his family that had security called on him by a healthy young teenager who later said he felt threatened by me because I raised my voice to him during a movie- movies are loud and he was about four feet from me. I could prove and did prove that I was on the phone for a few seconds to check what was on the screen- this was not debated but i don't think any reasonable person would not feel threatened while they lurched over a seated person. We came here on a recent weekday evening and had a decent experience. The "Value Day" $7 tickets certainly helped, and I didn't mind not having a self-service kiosk for ticket purchase and instead lining up for the concessions stand to get tickets by interacting with other humans. The venue looked clean, and the theatre had a surprisingly good turnout, especially for a weeknight horror showing. Seats were comfy, and sound and lighting had no issues. And since this is in a shopping centre, parking wasn't an issue, either. All in all a good experience, and we would definitely consider coming back. read more

Let's acknowledge that these tickets are far overpriced! They attempt to cram too many seats in the theatre, which resulted in the family behind us kicking our seats the entire time. We had been talked out of our original chosen seats by a staff member when we checked in...I'm not sure why, they said it was too close, even though it was four rows in? Oh well. The snacks were good and staff were friendly, we enjoyed how many staff were working and their ability to direct and be helpful when needed. Wow haven't been to the movies in a while. Not used to picking my seat when buying my ticket. But it was fairly easy. The seats were very comfortable and I enjoyed the fact that they had a drink holder. They reclined a bit and that made it easier to sit for a two and a half hour movie. They did offer some specials on refreshments although we didn't buy anything but a drink. Restrooms were very clean. read more

This is a nice theatre situated in the middle of the food court, which makes it uber convenient to buy some snacks before heading in. There's always some merchandise or deal being sold at the booths for different movies. I think this is one of my preferred places to watch movies in Albany. It has pretty nice seats, and they have a Starbucks booth next to the popcorns and stuff. read more

This theatre sucks. Only has one escalator down and one elevator! Massive hysteria when your movie just shuts off in the middle of it showing. No one from movie theatre comes in to tell us anything. Lights are blinking from fire alarms. This theatre doesn't seem to be ready for life threatening situations, if any serious ones were present. I still don't know what happened. As we walked out to hallway, there is one guy working for regal yelling "let the fire Dept do their check and we can go back to watching the movie". Yea but when? I guess I am spoiled by Bow Tie/Criterion in Saratoga, not to mention our wonderful Saratoga Film Forum where you can watch art films in a salon atmosphere for $8. When it's necessary to visit a multiplex, Regal loses because a/they cut off their matinee pricing an hour earlier, at 3 vs 4 pm b/charge marginally more, currently $13.20 vs $12.50 for a full price adult ticket c/have REALLY uncomfortable seating, with chairs so narrow i was afraid my butt was going to get stuck. At Bow Tie (both downtown and Wilton Mall) the seats are so comfortable I can and have had a nice nap while watching some miserable CGI romp with my teens; not going to happen here. Pro tip, instead of eating the drab food court food outside the theater, go one floor down where there's a Five Guys and Moe's, much better choices. read more

You know what? Stadium seating and digital projection is available everywhere now. I want something better than being treated like paying cattle when attending a movie, particularly when it costs nearly $20 just to get in the door with a companion. On our third trip here I finally got fed up with the management's sneering-lipped treatment of its customers (not just us). In the particular instance we were at a "sold out" show and got moved three times in the row to accommodate late-arriving patrons. Well, suppose I WANT to be on the end of the row, for instance, to be able to get a small-bladdered child to the restroom without disturbing other patrons? I got a classic "Nopology" from the manager in question as he shuffled us around and a tone I can describe only as incredibly hostile. Then, to add insult to insult, when the show started...the first three rows of the "sold out" show were completely empty and the lower level half-filled. So they're stupid as well as rude. If the theaters want to maximize the seating, let them issue reserved seats, or get real ushers again. Or add another showing. I'd be down with that. It's not my job to leave the seats we've arrived early to pick out so you can cram a few other people into the theater. This was not the first time we've had the feeling we were live sardines and were being packed in, and charged for the privilege, at this location but it will be the last. There's other stadium seating options in the area and we'll be using those in the future. read more

Just came here for the first time tonight and really liked it. It's pretty much brand spanking new but even after a couple years I'm sure it'll be a nice spot. Very clean..even the potty's lol! At Crossagtes it's usually pretty greasy looking in the concession area and messed up in the restroom.. this place was spic and span clean and no junk on the floor(s) either. The movie screen looked great to me. I'm no technical buff and don't know what aspect ratios or digital sound or projection means.. nor would I notice. But the movie looked and sounded great. The seating was nice and cushy. It also rocks(like a rocking chair kinda).. I'm a fidget pants and get really fussy and antsy sometimes when I can't move, so I liked being able to fidget when I was bored waiting for the movie to start. Little tip, there's a concession guy that comes into the theater with a concession cart. So you don't have to go and get your stuff at the main counter, if you don't want to. If there's something you want and it's not on the cart, he'll go get it for you... yep that's what he said :) I thought this was a convenient little touch.. even tho I'd already went up and got my stuff. He came in about 5/10mins before the previews popped on. I saw the Dark Knight by the way and it was a-mazing! read more

This is my personal favorite theater locally, specially the RPX theater. The screen, sound system and seats are the best. The new reserved seating is not my favorite but it is what it is. I highly recommend the Regal Cinema app, you can purchase your tickets through the app and pick your seats. If the theater is not full you can always move seats. Overall I recommend splurging on the RPX screen if your budget allows. Ask for your popcorn layered, it gives you a better mix of "butter". Happy movie watching read more

If I could rate this place 0 starts I would. I never write reviews about places but the staffs behavior at this regal establishment was unprofessional and inappropriate. My boyfriend and I went to watch argyle, we used ticket vouchers to get in. the lady at the front desk scanned our vouchers, cashed out our slushie, then told us we were good to go. We went to get into the theatre and we're asked for tickets, after explaining we weren't given any they reluctantly and rudely let us in to the theatre. Less than a minute later we were confronted by a manger and asked for tickets, we explained the situation again and this time we're told to leave. We said that is fine as the staff had already been so unwelcoming we didn't want to stay, however we asked for our vouchers back since we didn't get to watch the movie. The manager claimed we were trying to sneak in and that we never had vouchers. This is when tensions escalated we persisted we wanted our vouchers and the manager claimed he would call the police if we didn't leave. As we went to leave we explained how wrong it was and dissapointed we were. The adult male manager proceeded to call my boyfriend a "f - word" as we were walking out and used other obscene language to insult us. These staff were all stuck up, rude, and inappropriate, giving us a problem from the start when we had done nothing wrong. I will never be going back to this regal and am sad to see a manager treating genuine teenagers like criminals over employee miscommunication. So sad, very dissapointed in the place! read more

We frequent this place almost every weekend. Hopefully they will install the new recliners I have used in other theaters. On thing though all the Regal's have instituted bag searches to everyone because of the shootings at theaters... it's a sad day that you have to do this. Regal Cinemas in Colonie Center, NY On "Man of Steel" opening night, only TWO out of five ticket windows were open with a very long line. With a little more organization, 2-3 of the 10+ people at the snack bar or 3-4 of the employees standing around doing absolutely nothing could have staffed the empty ticket booth windows. Just an observation... The Terminator video game in the lobby was filthy and the gun had a thick, gummy substance all over it. Gross... I washed my hands immediately after one game and had to scrub to get the nasty film off my skin. Snack bar prices were insanely high and the popcorn was garbage. So we finally got in after waiting again to check our tickets. Plastic on the armrests felt sticky and infected. There were several long commercials--exactly like you see on network TV, followed by countless previews. It felt like at least 30 minutes of long trailers and many of them were unrelated genres. This went on and on and on and people were getting impatient. Personally, I was feeling really exploited by the 8th or 9th preview. I paid $13.00 to see a movie at 10:50pm, NOT sit through endless retail and car commercials or cartoon movie previews. When the movie finally started, the sound was terrible. Some passages were painfully loud due to the distortion. 3D was barely adequate and took away from the film. The usher slowly walked in front of us with his flashlight on 3-4 times. This was completely unnecessary and very distracting. Shut off the flashlight! Go away, kid! And then there is leaving the building afterwards... Ending several movies at exactly the same time causes traffic jams, and sometimes the only way to "escape" the third floor cinema is to wait for the small, slow elevator because the only escalator is running up and not down on the 3rd and/or 2nd floor. This is ridiculous--people are annoyed by this every time. It can take 10 minutes to travel 150 feet. There must be a better way to do that. Experiences like this keep Netflix in business. I would have enjoyed the movie more at home. I won't be back... read more

I feel so old saying this but.......This place is really expensive! Every movie coming out now seems to be damn 3D costing even more here. I do like the whole regal card deal that you use at the ticket stand as well as the concession that allows you to rack up points towards a free movie pass. (not for 3D movies) Todays visit was for matinee pricing as well as a free pass for my girlfriend. It can be a real bitch to find parking here so good luck to all, arrive a little early or you could end up doing circles like Clark W. Griswold with Big Ben and Parliament. More than likely you will have to deal with ghetto people & teens or a combination of the two on their cell phones and narrating the movie for you while here. We watched the Fright Night remake which I enjoyed, I like horror. When we left my girlfriends sneakers were going squick squack cause they were sticking to the floor, I think to keep us from leaving. During the day there is no down escalator so the quickest thing to do is ride the elevator to the first floor. read more

I don't see a whole lot of mainstream movies, but this is my go-to theater when I do. The prices are high, but the free movies that come from the Regal Rewards program makes it worth it, and it's not like there are any other large-screen, stadium seating theaters that cost less. They do a good job of making the most of the screens they have, rarely running an excessive amounts of showings for a single movie (with the exception of the hugely hyped summer blockbusters and, even then, only for a week). I like the crispness and clarity that comes from the digital theater, much more than the booming sound and excessive size of the alternative of an IMAX screen. I prefer not to see 3D movies, but Colonie Center even does them as well as possible. The snack bar isn't any more or less healthy or expensive than any other mainstream theater. I like that the displays list the calorie counts of the items. Not that many people pay attention or even notice, but I appreciate the effort they make. I like that the cup holders on the seats are oversize. Even when I bring my wide travel mug (which I bring everywhere), it fits no problem. The backs of the seats are high enough that you don't notice the people behind you (unless they kick the seat) and I love that they rock (for when people kick the back of my seat). The stadium seating ensures that there are few, if any, bad seats. My only complaint is with the ease of leaving the theater/mall. It's a serious logistics issue. The down escalator only goes to the food court, at which point you need to seek out the next escalator in the mall. The other option is the elevator which is, I swear, the single slowest elevator on the planet. It takes a solid 5-10 minutes for the elevator to come up to the third floor, then get back down to the first. Seriously, WTF with that elevator? read more

Saw Star Wars in RPX. I freaked at the 17.75 ticket price, but the RPX experience is nice. The seats recline slightly, are larger than traditional seats and are spaced well enough so that no one in front of you is in your field of vision. The theater could have been a little cleaner though - sticky floors were kind of gross. Picture and sound was nice, but in think the improved seating is what really set it apart. read more

I was really happy with this theater for the most part. The theater is clearly newer and it shows. The seats are comfortable and appropriately staggered (no head tops in front of me). We were there on a weekday afternoon to see Cars 2 in 3D and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly, the theater not too crowded, and no screen mess ups. My only complaint is that this place feels impossible to get out of. The up escalators take you there easily, but there are no matching down escalators. You have to walk a bit through the mall to get back to the first floor. WTF is up with that!?! read more

Pretty comfortable theatre attached to a shopping mall. The staff was friendly and the seats were comfortable. My two gripes are that they don't offer you to pick your seats when buying the tickets and that the escalators don't go down to the ground floor. The Colonie 13 is easily the best movie theater in the area (I only go to Crossgates when I absolutely have to now). It's very clean, very well designed, and the theaters are all high quality (and digital I believe). The price is high, but so are virtually all theaters (hell, even the spectrum is $9). My only real gripes are: 1) parking issues (the revamped colonie center can get REALLY packed really quick) 2) there's only one escalator up, so unless it's closing time, you have to take an elevator or walk through the mall to get out (sneaky planning I assume), and 3) no IMAX (I'm guessing it was a concession for Crossgates... and the Crossgates IMAX is such a joke, definitely not worth the huge up-charge). read more

Clearly the greatest theater in the region! The seats are all stadium seating and they all recline. The RPX theater seats are like sitting in a Porsche and if that makes you think they are small, the arms fold up! RPX is the biggest screen in the area and the sound is best felt, not just heard. Update: The greatest theatre just got better! Reserve seating has arrived! I didn't like it at first, but now I see that lining up an hour early is a thing of the past! This place has been open for about 2 and 1/2 months now, and I've probably seen 5 movies there (yea I've been seeing a lot of movies lately). As far as movie theaters go, this place is top notch. Obviously, it's a mall movie theater and therefore it is expensive but hey, you know that going into it. You get what you pay for though in the form of stadium style seating, (even in the first five rows of each theater), comfortable chairs that rock, plently of leg room in the aisles, and most importantly High Definition screens in every theater. The HiDef screens make a huggggeee difference and is the main reason I have been going to this theater as opposed to say the one in Crossgates. Beware though, it seems like everyone else in the capital region has made this their preferred theater as well since a few showings I have planned to see have been sold out when I got there (not just the "typical" Friday opening night showings either) read more

The nicest theater in the area. That is until the Clifton Park cinema opens possibly. Stadium seating with chairs that lean back and lots of leg room. The screens are huge and have great picture and sound. The popcorn even tastes better here than other theaters. Certainly not any cheaper though. While the mall is not as trashy as X-gates you are still sure to find someone in the theater to ruin it if its a packed crowd. This time someone brought a damn baby. Granted it was a PG movie but a crying baby is the last thing that you should think about bringing into a movie theater.
