Dr. Banning did my cataract surgery. I had been near-sighted most of my life. I understood that surgery would improve my vision and I would still be slightly near-sighted. I was happy with that. He changed me to far-sighted without my knowledge. I spent months STRUGGLING to understand why I could not see the way I had expected. Dr. Shrack prescribed lenses, but she was not aware of what was causing my vision issues. I finally went to Dr. Banning to discuss my problems. He said that I requested to be far-sighted! After months of struggling this was the first I learned of the cause of my trouble. I was shocked as I would NEVER have requested this. He would not discuss and got mad and left the room. I tried different ophthalmologists and finally found an ophthalmologist and optometrist who helped me. The ophthalmologist said that most ophthalmologists will not make such a drastic change in a person's vision. If Dr. Banning really thought I wanted to be far-sighted, he should have discussed with me the problems this would cause. I would have realized he had it wrong and made the change before surgery. And, if he really cared about me, he would have seen that my hobbies are reading and sewing. These are not far-sighted activities. Well, where do I start?! Three visits in the past two months, initial exam, surgery, and that one week follow-up. consistnely having to wait on Dr. B. which in this Gulf War Veteran's perspective is a bit too long! Listen I get it! Let me inconvenience these delusional customers by continually over-booking on a regular basis to grow that account! From check-in, insitial screening by those asst's then off to the waiting room aka "Patient Hell!" Yeah, just a bit impatient but call out BS when I see it. I've made it clear twice that 1 hour wait for each of the two exams is unacceptable and will ultimatley pull the trigger with putting a stop to it because as and individual that's gone through cornea transplants and cataract surgeries in each eye I can see it a mile away! Asst's response as she guides me to a room and quite bluntly I ask sarcastically "is this another waiting room?" Her response "she's busy" as if to indicate that's a truly acceptable! Getting fired up I asked her who the hell isn't these day?! In other words stop with the "her time is more important than yours" crap please!Checking out I asked the desk clerk for a simple invoice or just or proof of attending the appt for my records and after waiting 15 minutes as she's training a new hire she ultimately call someone from the back which seemed as clueless as she was as I ask myself wtf is going on here?! Because for whatever reason with all that brain power that code was never cracked and so I provided my email address as requested hoping we could close the loop on this matter and here it is almost two weeks later and NADA! Also that retired GS and am well aware that absolutely nothing will change until the operation is exposed! Yes, I'm transparent and full disclosure so plan accordingly YOU! read more

My wife just had cataract surgery on both eyes with great results. I am scheduled in December. We both have different doctors. Her's is Olson and my Bishara. Wow, what great doctors. They both explained options thoroughly and spent a lot of time to make sure we understood the options. My eyes are complicated due to a previous lasik surgery and two other issues. My wife got the standard lenses, mine will be light adjustable. I trust these doctors and highly recommend Cokingtin. read more

While they take a lot of patients for surgeries, I found the office staff, support nurses, and techs very friendly. I felt completely confident in Miranda Bishaara and the double cataract surgeries I had. There were no infections, side effects, or healing issues. I no longer wear any glasses and had to change out my progressive prescription sunglasses for regular ones. The only problem I have is seeing concentric circles around LED lights at night. It doesn't matter the color of the light, the circles can be red, green, etc. I have been told this will eventually go away but it has been 3.5 months and no change. I hope it does because it's very bothersome. I had slight auras before, but this is worse. All in all, I would recommend Cokingtin. read more

Dr. Cokingtin did an amazing job with BOTH of my eyes! I had problem eyes, very near sighted and now I can see so well. Highly recommend!

Cokingtin herds patients through their office like cattle. You'll be greeted with, What's your DOB and you'll hear everyone's response. No privacy. The biggest concern was after my exam I was unable to schedule a surgery date for my Cataract. I was told they were short staffed and I would be called later that day. After almost 2 weeks of leaving VM and emails to both Dr Bannon and his scheduler without any response, I called my eye Dr and said I wanted to go elsewhere. My eye Dr had his staff call and got an appt. for me, now 2 1/2 months out. Unhappy with Cokingtin but I doubt they care. read more

Things started off really well, I had a good exam and recommendation for treatment. The recommendation was for sclera contacts. Back in 2019 I was given a set that seemed to work but the longer I wore them weeks and weeks the more uncomfortable they became. Another visit and adjustments and the fit can't be done. Well then we have CoVid and the year that was and as a nurse I was working 20 + days in a row and when I could I would call but most of my calls went unanswered and only asking to speak to the office manager would get me a call back. No respect was given for the difficulty in my schedule and after 2 years I have no contacts and have $1000 less I'm sure that contacts are just not big money so who gives a crap. Who cares if we just hand the patient off to another person without any refund for not getting the product. I will never recommend this facility and believe that neither will my sister, brother in law or father who are physicians or my mom and sister in law who are nurses. read more

unfortunately I have to join the unhappy group of clients. The procedure applied to my eyes failed twice, a possibility of which I had not been originally informed. Of course they never assume responsibility. So you are basically charged a hefty fee for nothing and you are left with the same poor eye condition as before. It is a pity that the present health system in our beautiful country does not allow for honesty on the part of providers and that the patient is always the one to bear the brunt. read more

I had been a patient at Cokingtin and frankly was tired of the poorly run front desk and waiting 30 to 40 minutes when I arrived on time for my appointment. When i would finally see my doctor, she was fine but it was the hassle of it all. I have given up and moved on to another group. read more

Went for my yearly eye check today during this lovely weather!! Thank goodness our daughter took me as dilation of eyes makes it difficult to see especially with the BRIGHT SNOW All I can say is that you ALL rock!! Such a pleasant office and wonderful staff working there. Doctor's appointments are never fun but they all made it so easy and pleasant. Your receptionist was super special as was each and every technician. Dr. Shrack is just the best . Thank you so much!! Don't ever change! read more

To the best of my knowledge, there are no problems with the medical practice. My particular doctor came well recommended and seemed to be very professional, giving sound advice and spending plenty of time answering all of my questions. However, the staff at the surgical center were among some of the worst I have ever experienced, ultimately causing me to cancel my surgery minutes before I was to be prepped for a cataract replacement procedure. Clearly, the staff was running a "patient mill", getting people in and out as fast as possible. That part was okay, I understand the need to perform as many procedures as possible on the doctor's "surgery" day. However, when questions arose about pre-surgical instructions, my wife and I were treated as if we were criminals. Had one of my children spoken to my wife in the manner with multiple members of this staff spoke to her, they would have been severely punished. As a result of this behavior, I chose to terminate the procedure and find another doctor/surgical center to perform the procedure. Although this resulted in my being required to pay (out of pocket) for the duplicated tests required, I have absolutely no regrets. My procedure was performed with wonderful results and the entire staff made every effort to insure that I had all of the information needed and was confident in their abilities prior to going "under the knife". I refuse to reward the atrocious behavior of the Cokington Eye Center employees by allowing them to provide services for me and encourage others in the Kansas City area to find an alternative provider. You only have one set of eyes, why risk them by allowing non-professionals to perform pre-surgical functions? read more

I'm not sure they ever knew what was going on here. My ophthalmologist seemed to be very well Eric but that's about as far as that goes. The front desk staff always seemed confused, never had the same information, I would get calls telling me to come pick things up and they would tell me those calls never happened. I am not sure my cataract surgery was even successful but I'm terrified about the damage done to my eyes at this point. It took 3 weeks to order contacts and when I asked if they were in they told me only 1 person in the entire office knew how and she was on vacation. In a 3 month time span this happened 2 different times. If that person is off that often perhaps you should train someone else to know how to do it. I was also charged different prices for the same items and given no reason as to why, when paying cash and not billing insurance there shouldn't be a discrepancy in the cost of identical items. I would research other providers and utilize their services if I had another opportunity read more

I think the visit was expensive because they charged it to Medicare as a health problem rather than an optometrist visit. For some reason, they couldn't charge it as an eye exam. The woman who checked my eyes was obviously new (and pushy). When she tested my peripheral vision, she put her fingers next to my head and then quickly pulled them forward saying, "Can you see my fingers?" Another woman, who was obviously the first woman's mentor, checked my glasses. When I got to the actual doctor (Schrek), she said that the previous woman had not noticed that my glasses had bifocals. When I drove home I realized that they hadn't checked my close vision. I called them and whoever I talked to said that they don't need to test close vision because they arbitrarily add a strength based solely on the age of the patient. I don't have my Medicare statement so I don't know how much they charged, but it must have been over $200. I gave up on them and went to Vision Masters (I had a coupon, so the entire visit costs $10). Vision Masters checked my close vision and they did another test to check whether my eyes were lined up or not. They weren't, so that was part of the prescription. Now I have an accurate prescription. If I hadn't looked into it, I would have spent over $400 for glasses with the wrong prescription. read more

My wife needed cataract surgery. We paid the $4400 up front which is required by the clinic. After each follow up visit we asked if we owed any fees for the services. The answer was always no. Since then we have been billed 3 times for services that supposedly been covered by the initial $4400. 2 out of the 3 times, I pointed out their mistake and the charges were reversed. The 3rd time, they told me the charges were not covered in the initial charge. We are receiving this bill 4 months after the service. I'm having the billing department audited. There is suspicious billing happening there. Dr. Pool's work was also a mature at best. We had to go to another doctor to get one of my wife's eyes diagnosed because it was yellow and irritated. Dr. Pool said we should get her liver looked at. When we went to a different eye surgeon and told him what Dr. Pool had said, he about fill off his stool laughing and told us there was nothing wrong with my wife's liver and that her membrane over the white of her eye had a fold in it due to Dr. Pool's amature work. Please do not go to Covington eye care. The workmanship is not professional and they triple bill you. read more
