The last reminder I received from Grin Eyecare via text was 6/7/2026 for a 6/9/2026 appointment. I rescheduled to July 2026. In July, I contacted the office and asked when my appointment was, they said I missed it. I explained I had been expecting a text message and did not receive the reminder. I was told I was correct, I did not receive a text message reminder. I then asked they waive the late fee. I was told to talk to Dr. Gershon's office. I used to see Dr. Johnson at the Olathe office, a wonderful doctor, but had to switch offices. I spoke with the office today at my 8 am appointment for which I drove from Lawrence, Kansas. I was told, I was sent the text, I read the text reminder for July, they had proof and I had to pay the late fee by Dr. Gershon's assistant. I said, "we are through." His assistant said, "fine." I left in tears. I did nothing wrong. I am a 58 year old woman and I do not deserve to be treated this way and I will NOT EVER go back and neither will any member of my family. Please be aware. Dr was excited about a new "space age" tmonovision procedure after cataract removal.i was not told that it would be several adjustments and that they would be extremely painful. Also they dont mention until after the procedure that you have to wear crazy looking glasses until ...mono vision for me was not successful and after several extremely painful procedures they had to reverse which was more painful procedures. [[HIGHLIGHT]]More than a year after paying the $6,000 out of pocket ,for this space age procedure , I had my final appt and I got checked in immediately.!I then waited for Dr Wong for 1 hour and 15 minute with not one person checking on me and keeping me informed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I always got in immediately before I paid my $6,000 in cash. I finally just left as I was just so aggravated and annoyed I will go back to my regular eye dr to determine what glasses I will need after being told no glasses after mono vision procedure. I had an appointment with Dr. Rogers for eyelid swelling and scaling. He immediately dismissed me and said everything looks healthy despite photos that show progression of eyelid swelling. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I felt dismissed and disregarded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I Will be needing a second opinion. The office was accommodating but I waited 45 minutes to be seen by a doctor to be told everything is fine when all of my friends and family are also noticing a change in my eyelids. Customer service is terrible. Billing is nuts. They billed me as a new patient because it had been too long since my last visit. They did not tell me upfront what the charges would be and it was a less-than pleasant surprise. They can charge whatever they want and they were clear they would not change anything. My last provider charged $60 for the exact same service that Grin charged over $300. read more

The doctor was great. I had to pay extra for contacts. So it was clear I would be getting contacts. I had brought my old frames to get new lenses in them. I dealt with Pam. I explained I wouldn't be using them very often and would rely on contacts. She asked if I wanted to use my insurance so of course I said yes. When I went to order my contacts, u was told I already used my insurance on glasses. Just the lenses. The contacts would have been completely covered with my insurance. $300+. When I asked Pam if she knew that I wouldn't be able to use my insurance on the contacts I told her I would be primarily wearing, she reiterated that she asked me if I wanted to use my insurance. I told her that if I would have known if I would rather pay for just basic lenses versus paying for a year worth of daily contacts I would've made a more informed decision, which seems to be her job as the coordinator. She said she can't undo a claim and to have a good day. I hope she has the day she deserves. read more

I have been a long-term patient of Dr. Grin's and he is the most fantastic ophthalmologist. He cares about you as a patient and also as a person. He is very patient. The staff is very friendly, I've also seen some of his colleagues and they have all been fantastic. They got me right in. They also get glasses to you very quickly, and the optical shop has plenty of options for you to choose from. I absolutely trust them for all my eye care! I've been going to Grin Eye Care for years now and have always had great service. Everyone is very accommodating and helpful right as you walk in, and the Doctors are very kind. The company culture seems positive and friendly, and helps the patient feel comfortable and genuinely cared for. I've never had any issues with waiting too long to be seen and the appointments are always efficient. I've gone in many times, even with small eye-sight issues, and feel prioritized as a patient regardless of how big or small the eye care problem may be. So I am waiting two weeks for glasses that have never been ordered! I call them two weeks letter and they have no record of my eye glass order!!! What! We love the eye doctor here but Pam in the optical department is so incredibly rude that I don't even want to go there anymore. Was not only rude to me and my family but witnessed her being rude to a young girl picking out her first pair of glasses (Pam thought she was taking too long) and a very elderly woman who wanted larger frames (to which Pam said "you want LARGER frames?!"). Unacceptable. Was brought to the eye doctors attention and nothing changed. Finally called about the glasses that we ordered over a month ago and Pam's flip response was "they are in". This place is a cluster. I didn't mind the doctor but good grief their customer service is lacking. I have very good insurance and my coworkers assured me that their eye exams/contact fitting run the usual $5 copay. However, I ended up with an $80 charge, upfront, that they refused to run through insurance. Part of it was retinal photography which I knew would be out of pocket beforehand agreed to, but they charged me $60 for a contact lens prescription. I argued this charge with the business office since my insurance clearly would cover it, but they refused to ever submit it and were incredibly rude about the whole thing. I got my initial boxes of contacts through their office. Fast forward 6plus months later and I've decided to order more from an online vendor, and low and behold can't find that prescription I paid $60 for. I call the clinic and they tell me the doctor never completed a contact lens prescription so they'd have to message him for it. What? I ordered contacts through you once already...? They get around to emailing it to me and IT'S FOR THE WRONG BRAND OF CONTACTS. And again, somehow, not the brand I received directly through their office mere months prior. I'll be going elsewhere. The doctor was fine but this was all around more difficult than it ever needed to be. read more

Well, I guess I wouldn't know about their actual care because I didn't book an appointment. I wanted a full eye health exam because I am diabetic and experiencing some eye issues, but I also need contacts and eyeglass prescriptions renewed. Apparently their opthamologists don't write prescriptions, so I would have to come back another time for that. But they won't set an appointment for that until I have the comprehensive eye exam which is months out. I am about to run out of contacts so obviously I can't wait months for the comprehensive, and then who knows how long after that to actually get a prescription. It would be super nice for someone to handle all my eye needs, but apparently that's too much to ask here. My suggestion? Don't bother with them. There are others out there who actually care about people with multiple needs who don't make them come back multiple times to address each need individually. Wowsers. Super ridiculous. read more

From the moment I walked in Grin Eye Care I was impressed! The receptionist greeted me and answered all my questions. I was promptly treated by professionals-I was especially impressed by the in depth testing I received. Our entire family (from the kids to the grandparents) are patients at Grin Eye Care Leawood. Dr. Gerson has been our Doctor for almost a decade -- and the care has been top notch the entire time. From the minute we walk in the door, we are welcomed by the professional and friendly office staff. I'd be lying if I said we didn't appreciate the fresh coffee and snacks in the beautifully appointed lobby. Dr. Gerson is always extremely punctual, and I appreciate that he can communicate and relate as well with my children as he can with my parents! We never feel rushed at our appointments, Dr. Gerson takes his time to ensure everyone understands next steps and course of treatment. If there is ever an 'emergency', we are always squeezed in the schedule. Dr. Gerson is extremely friendly and accessible, even texting and calling us over the weekend to make sure everything is okay when we have had an issue with our eyes.
