Loved the outdoor seating, very easy to order. The ropa vieja was absolutely amazing I loved the cabbage and onions, the yellow sauce was the topping of the bowl full of flavor. I also ordered a guava frozen cocktail so refreshing perfect for this 70 degree weather. We also ordered the guava pastry they only had one left at 2:52pm so make sure to order your pastries early. Súper family friendly even my 1 year old grandson enjoyed the bowl. Perfectly seasoned even for babies. Nothing more depressing when ordering food to get home and open it only to realize it's the wrong thing. A group of seven of us met up here on a recent rainy weekend day for a communal lunch. The food here very much reminded me of home and my days growing up down in Miami. We shared a bunch of dishes around the table...the Havana Ohh La La sampler platter (empanadas, croquetas, plantain chips with mojo and black bean dips, brownie bites), guava and cheese pastelitos, Cuban sandwich, fried chicken croqueta sandwich and guava BBQ lechon sandwich. Being born in Cuba raised in Miami most of my life and living in a Cuban household I can tell you I wasn't all to happy it's really hard to find good Cuban food anywhere outside of south Florida. We had great service and the place was beautifully decorated and was playing good background music. The empanadas, croquetas and plantanachos were good I'd give them a 7. But the ropa vieja plate was not. The meat looked like something that's been frozen and was defrosted. Rice could have been a fit softer. As well. My tostones were good and crispy. What a lovely place for lunch. They have non alcoholic pina colada that is absolutely delicious and made with fresh pineapple. Got the empanadas, brownie and vegan Cuban sandwich. We went here for the veggie cubanos. We ordered two veggie cubanos, tostones, and plantain chips. We ordered to go, and it was pretty quick, but the place is very cute and a great location. I really liked the flavor of the Cubano, with the mustard and the pickles, but it wasn't very Cubano-like, I know it's vegetarian but it really wasn't similar. The tostones and plantain chips were both great and had great flavor. I had dined here before for breakfast on a weekday inside with a friend, and a lovely meal without it being very crowded. Colada shop is a nice little cafe that has excellent small bites. The empanadas are great (though a bit too small) and the churros are excellent and melt in your mouth (and they give a pretty good serving). I'm not so sure about the bigger entrees though - I tried a Cuban once and it was pretty bland. Neat little Cuban cafe by the Wharf area with an order out window. Sometimes there is a bit of a line and it can take a while to get your order, but the cafe con leche is excellent. The chicken were a little dry & zucchini was better than expected; gave a hush puppy consistency. 2 Chicken & 2 Breakfast Empanadas; My partner said the breakfast was a bit dry but i differed. The chicken were amazing. I do wish i tried their beef empanadas. Plantain chips were a great add on & had an amazing crunch. Brownie bites were also amazing & had some cajeta in there. I do wish I had some of their coffee to finish off this cuban meal. Secondly, Service - Pretty meh. We ordered through QR code, got our own drinks, & put up our food. When asked where water cups/togo box was the referred me to the front of the store. Lastly, Ambiance - It was solid! Music was on par to the environment, inside storefront was nice, loved the murals, & faux plant decor outside. Cleanliness was also decent; Plates weren't picked up when we got there from previous tables which caused a birdie to come in and try to feed itself & loved ones Some "clean" cups also had gnats on them. Had to pay before receiving service, and get them to suggest a 20% "tip" for what exactly?? I even had to go to get our waters... We were walking around the Wharf and happened across the takeout window at The Colada Shop and decided to get a snack and it did not disappoint!! We decided on the Picadillo Beef Pastelito (Caribbean style pastry) which was $3.75 and then the Ham croquetas which was $3.50 for two. They were both delicious! The croquetas are small but so savory and comes with this great sauce. The beef pastry was my favorite, so flaky and with great flavor. I would highly recommend you give them a try. They have several different filling options and I will definitely be back to try the rest. The sandwiches also look so good! For a drink, I got an iced Morir sonando con leche - seasonal drink with espresso, spiced citrus and milk. What a unique flavor, I really enjoyed it. Also, they offer decaf espresso! It was about $7 after tax which was very reasonable, especially for the area. The takeout window made it so easy to order with a large touch screen where you can pay right outside. I went to the Colada Shop at the Wharf for a Wednesday night drink. The experience was decent, but I don't think I'd go back. Here's what was a plus: 1) It's a beautiful space with outside murals by a Dominican artist and the inside tiles. It's a space that screams summer and vacation. You feel like you're in Havana. 2) The food was good. I ordered the guava pastry and it was large and tasty. Here are the downsides: 1) The staff isn't friendly at all. The manager was not warm and when asked a valid question, she acted annoyed. I'd like to think it was just a bad day (which we all get), but I am curious if others experienced the staff in this way as well. 2) There was a lack of organization. People didn't know how to order, where to stand, etc. There's outdoor seating where you can social distance, but I won't be running back to visit. read more

A cute, casual, fast, and DELICIOUS Cuban spot on the wharf! This is a new addition to the area since the last time I was here. There's a huge patio right outside the restaurant with a lot of greenery and shaded seating. Great atmosphere and perfect for enjoying the weather. The food is awesome! I tried the picadillo and summer corn empanadas which come with a cup of tasty green salsa. These empanadas were cooked perfectly with the perfect amount of flakiness! I was very impressed with the flavors. I also ordered plantain chips with black bean dip- also pretty good! This is a great unique addition to the wharf area! I've been here before and got the empanadas, and from what I remember they were delicious! This time around, we decided to try the croquetas, and it was not good all! We got the ham and their seasonal croqueta which I believe had okra in it, and they both had the consistency between apple sauce and mushy bananas, and the flavors just weren't there for us. In addition, for 2 orders, we were only given 1 sauce, and we had to ration the sauce which was similar to - if not - tzatziki. The sauce was good, and we wanted to use the sauce to mask the flavor of the croqueta fillings. At least the fry crunch was good. Bright, airy and cute little spot right by the wharf. Outdoor seating off the main road. The coffee is smooth. The chicken is tender and really well seasoned. Spinach and cheese empanada was so delicious - I didn't miss having meat in it. You could eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at Colada Shop starting with coffee and empanadas and switching over to tropical drinks and ribs. The Locale is charming in an odd way. The colors tries to be Latin but it comes across as done by an interior design undergraduate that has never been to a Latin country. The food is fair and enjoyable, but as a person born and raised in Cuba and Miami, I will say it lacks authenticity. The service is curt but not rude. Churros are "seasonal" so don't get your hopes up if you come for those. The music just is. The croquetas are overpriced, the cafe con leche too hot, and the media noche presented in a French baguette bread that reminds us all of that French Cuba from some alternate universe. Fascinating coffee shop with a Cuban twist. I know nothing about Cuban food so stopped in here while walking along the water out of curiosity. I wasn't hungry and am not a coffee drinker plus didn't want to hang around an indoor space with unmasked people too long during COVID so just bought a bag of plantain chips to go. I'd never had anything with plantains before but they were quite tasty. Would love to come back here sometime and check out some of the other foods as they all looked really nice. A classmate of mine found this place (not like Columbus, but she just hipped me to it) and really liked it, so we went so I could check it out. And I really dug it. The decorum was cheery, with a combination of eye-catching colors (light blue and magenta), good lighting, relaxing decorative plants, and a great use of space. I really appreciated the outdoor covered patio, even though mosquitos drove us back inside. They encourage patrons to order food at their table using a QR code (which in some ways ensures service, but also depersonalizes it). Once inside, we ordered from the counter, which was helpful. I got the iced coco matcha with oatmilk, which was delicious (although a little sweet, but great once some of the ice melted). I don't eat meat, so I got the rice and black beans, spinach and cheese empanada, and the seasonal- a mix with sweet potato. The food was pretty flavorful and I asked for a side of hot sauce for a little heat. My only real criticism is that they violated the cardinal rule of being vegetarian-friendly. They mixed up one of my empanadas with one classmate's and gave me a chicken. I didn't realize it until after I bit into it. Not cool. But, I should be more careful, so I'm taking responsibility. Woman owned goodness! I usually frequent the Colada Shop off 14th street bc it's closer to my house, but happened to be at the Wharf for an event and enjoyed stopping by. I always get the cafe con leche over ice and it's consistently one of my favorite coffee drinks. I've tried all of their empanadas --the chicken and spinach & cheese are my favorites, but they're all delicious. This time, I opted for something a little more refreshing with the Havana Caesar salad (romaine, spring mix, mojo chicken paillard, manchego cheese, cuban bread croutons, house caesar dressing) and boy am I glad I did! It was so delicious, with all the things you love about a caesar salad, but with a Cuban twist. The mojo chicken and manchego cheese were great additions, and I polished the whole thing off lickety split.
