Sofia Loren

This place is the best pizza place I've been to. Pizza brought us in and the rest of the menu made us stay.

Local stop for Italian food and coal fire pizza. Owned by a local family who are very nice and friendly to all who visit. I found it a bit pricey for the food. The bill was almost $90 without tip. We had two alcoholic drinks, two main dishes, a take home pizza, and one shared dessert. We had a nice visit and took home plenty of food for lunch the next day. The server was friendly and very quick to help. The desert was very good.

I was in the mood for some pizza and stopped in at this restaurant. When I arrived I parked in their private lot. I walked in and sat at the bar. Joe was my bartender, and he was very attentive! I started with the carafe of Pinot nior, which was good. I then ordered the Sofia Loren 12-inch pizza with shrimp and spinach. I never had shrimp on a pizza, so I wanted to try it. It came out in about 20 minutes or so and looked good. When I dug in, it was delicious! I really enjoyed the combo. The bill was even affordable! I had a really good experience!

Food and service always what you want. My wife and I usually split a pizza and salad. Plenty of food and reasonable pricing.

The food was authentic, unique, and combined in palette awakening plates. Our meal featured: House made Palermo wine: full flavored, semi-dry made without additives Homemade Hummus & Vinaigrette Beets: Garnished with fresh, vibrant pesto. Ancient Grain Bread Board: In-house breads paired with EVOO seasoned with fresh herbs. Korean Beef Stew: Deeply savory, featuring tender, authentically seasoned beef over mashed potatoes (or ancient bread cubes), garnished with homemade kimchi. Dessert: Pistachio, almond or vanilla panna cotta (sells out fast). The sheer amount of care, prep, and scratch-cooking that goes into this menu makes it a standout restaurant in Northeast PA. Enjoy the artsy decor, hospitality and uniquely combined scratch prepared foods...overall a great dining experience.

Menu changes often, but the house made bread was amazing with cheese, smoked salmon crostini, roasted carrots with pecans, garlic shrimp over coconut rice, sausage and meatball, chicken francese, and a cornbread dessert! Recommend it all! For those who don't like wine try the cranberry sparkling wine! Thanks for the best dinner in a really long time!

The food we had was amazing (burgers, salmon, and some other things I'm forgetting from my table, I had a burger). The cocktails were also very nicely crafted. The service was great. The atmosphere was great, we were even seated in a semi-private room with a fireplace! All in all, no negatives. Highly recommend and we will be returning.

Our plans before were running long but luckily their reservation policies were flexible enough that I had no problem moving my time, even on such a busy day. The restaurant was POPPING when we arrived around 4:30. We were seated promptly. The only downside to our experience was that the table was SUPER shaky and wobbly. We asked our waitress for a shim or piece of paper to steady the table but she informed us it was the table head itself, not the legs, so nothing could be done. I was not thrilled about this but assumed that these were tables they hauled out of storage to accommodate the holiday demand, so I can understand. Our server was very warm and friendly despite the chaos. Prices are on the high side but the quality is good and the portions are large. I went for the lobster cobb which was a special and it was LOADED with lobster meat. They really heaped it on. A little light on the avocado, but overall it was really wonderful. My mother went for a seafood scallop risotto which I also tried. It was creamy and flavorful. Our food came out in a reasonable timeframe, and our server was good about getting our check. One thing I really liked was that they put which dishes on the menu are over 500 calories, and most were under. A lovely, healthy dining choice with a nice ambiance. I'd return!
