Cupcakes by Cory has moved to a dangerously more convenient location on Central blvd. I came down…read moreto visit my parents and also enjoy a mini vacation on South Padre Island. For funsies, we decided to pick up a dozen cupcakes to take with us. Talk about variety! But first, the customer experience of walking in: You are IMMEDIATELY hit with the smell of cake. Sweet, delicious cake. I imagine that's what heaven smells like. It's a small space, but the group makes the best it can with social distancing. Everyone is wearing a mask, and a hand sanitizing station is by the door and also by the register. All the cupcakes are protected by glass, and the colder sweets are protected in a clear fridge. And as appetizing as the cold cakes looked, c'mon. We were here for the cupcakes. They're legendary in the Valley. Our selection only had one duplicate: The lemon blueberry. And honestly, these massive muffin-sized cupcakes are huge. They're huge, dense, moist, and did I mention huge? They maintain their cupcake flavor without coming off as too muffin-like. And with eclectic toppings like HOT CHEETOS WHAT, decadent brownies, cherries, and candy corn (they can't all be winners, I guess), there's something for everyone here. My absolute favorites, in no particular order: Red velvet (Classic, delicious, traditional), strawberry (not cloyingly sweet, still fruity), German chocolate (ohmygodddd), and chocolate with a massive brownie plopped on top (guaranteed to satisfy your resident chocoholic). In fact, I loved these cupcakes so much I stopped by again before my drive back to San Antonio. The four and a half drive back was, indeed, torture. The smell was all-encompassing and you bet I tore into one as soon as I got home.

Been getting birthday cupcakes for my daughter from here for 5 years + . This is definitely my…read morefavorite spot when I'm craving something sweet and I love how kind the owners and staff are . Not to mention always fresh cupcakes and a variety of flavors !

The revitalization of downtown Brownsville continues. I had my eye on this spot for at least two…read morevisits but it wasn't open yet. We finally saw it was open and my mom, dad, and I went this morning to give it a shot. So, if you go too early, you run the risk of the baked goods not being ready yet, but by the time we left, the pistachio cookies were ready. They still had a good selection of sweets, though. Mom and I had the Mexican Latte, and it was perfect. Seems like they used the Abuela bar chocolate, cause some of the grit settled in the cup. I had a pan de elote and it was so perfect. I loved the decor inside. It was beautifully decorated. You wouldn't think this building is old as heck. The light fixtures, wall decor, etc was very pretty without being overwhelming. Service was great. There were two ladies manning the shop and I think the manager came in later. He let us know the pistachio cookies were ready. The girl making the lattes was very nice. I made sure to compliment her latte art, and she showed me a photo of a swan she made that she was very proud of! We placed a to go order for my sister and brother in law, and I also bought mug (for coffee and wine) for my collection. My family is looking forward to their next visit, and so am I!

This is the seventh drink in a row they got wrong for me. When I first visited, their barista did a…read moregood job. So I rated them accordingly. But I've come on separate occasions very explicitly stating that I only want a certain number of shots of espresso, only for them not to write it on the cup and the entire drink is ruined. Seven separate times. The drinks are overpriced. The food is stale. I no longer recommend this place.
