I kept it simple and got chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone. The cone was dipped in chocolate, which honestly made it way better. That extra layer added a nice crunch and more sweetness with every bite. The ice cream itself was smooth and rich, classic chocolate. I also added pecans, and that was a good call. Hey fellow Yelp users! I went to Cold Stone Creamery in La Grange on 7/02/24 (Tuesday) with my boyfriend, his younger brother, & their cousin. This was my first time coming this location. I love Cold Stone and it truly never disappoints. I think it's located at a perfection location because it's right next to the Classic Cinemas La Grange Theatre. Food: I ordered my usual, a Coffee Lovers Only. There's no Cold Stones near me, so I had to treat myself by getting a Gotta Have It/Large size. It reminds me of Jamoca from Baskin Robbins. Atmosphere: I loved the atmosphere. I went on a really hot day, so it felt nice walking into the cold that is Cold Stone. Customer Service: I thought the customer service was good. The cashier that took my order was really nice. Make sure to tell the cashier your phone number if you're a rewards members to get those points. Parking: There's a parking lot, parking garage, & street parking which is all FREE. Street parking is hit or miss, so I totally recommend parking at the parking lot or parking garage. Overall Experience: Overall, I had a good experience at Cold Stone Creamery in La Grange. I would highly recommend this place if you're craving some dessert after getting some food around the area and/or watching a movie at the Classic Cinemas La Grange Theatre which is right next door. My order was missing an entire $8 ice scream order, 2 items were missing an ingredient and two items were half the size of the normal serving. If you want good ice cream go to Cold Stone, but not this one. I ordered a shake and a bowl of ice cream to go since we can't order things inside due to COVID. When I got home and opened the bag I found a nice little thank you cake pop with a hand written message that I thought was pretty cool. Felt personal! Then when my pregnant and patient girl bit into it the chocolate fell off and thank fully she caught it right away. Under the layer of hardened chocolate there was a later of white mold. This mold if from sitting to long on a shelf or fridge somewhere. It was truly disgusting and now my queen is going to make me go somewhere further. Went in because my husband was craving a pb cup milkshake and this was the only ice cream place around and open after 8pm. Came in and ordered a "Reese's peanut butter cup shake" (simple enough, right?) we could see the peanut butter cups right there, they have ice cream, it's possible. That's a direct quote from my husband, who insisted we leave the bustling Creamery after waiting in line for about 4 minutes and then finally arriving at the counter to view the ice cream choices. I know some people absolutely love this ice cream, but it really doesn't do anything for me. Meh. I've experienced better. So, what is it about Cold Stone ice cream that doesn't dazzle me? I am an ice cream lover, but I have never been able to finish a "Like It" cup here (the smallest scoop size). I eat a few bites and then just lose my appetite for ice cream. It's too sugary. It's too filling. There's something dense and heavy about it; this isn't light, fluffy, melt on your tongue ice cream. The consistency just isn't right. It's more like rubber cement or tar than creamy goodness that is advertised in the store name, "Cold Stone Creamery." I have tried a BUNCH of different combinations, which is one of the big pulls of this ice cream place, but they're all the same. Every bite of Cold Stone I have, I think of what an absolute waste of money and calories it is. There is something artificially sweet about this ice cream that just really turns me off. Blah. Also, there are only a handful of tables at this location, so if you come at a busy time (especially nights during the summer), then good luck finding a place to sit. I get dragged here from time to time if a friend wants to go, but there is better ice cream than Cold Stone in La Grange, like Tate's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop. The ice cream flavors and combinations at Coldstone are a magnificent calorie bomb. Not a place to make a habit of going if you're watching your weight. Last time I was there I got the german chocolate cake ice cream- mixed up with a brownie, caramel, coconut and nuts... oh man!! If you go, keep in mind a feeling of patience. The workers there are a lot of high schoolers, some of them having this as a first job. The family and I like coming here for dessert when we eat out in the area. There are a lot of restaurants in the area. Cold Stone is a little pricey so it's not an every day type of ice cream shop. I think you do get a fair serving size though, and I usually cannot finish the bowls/cups I get. My current favorite is the Cookie Doughn't You Want Some, but I like how you can just look at the toppings and create your own...Kit Kats and vanilla is always a winner for me. The kids are into custom creations. The staff is always peppy and they sing (sometimes terribly) when you tip them. Parking is somewhat limited, but that's the area in general, which is my biggest complaint. We usually find ourselves walking here after dinner. I should have known it wasnt going to go well when the heavily made-up chit that took my order was staring at something over my shoulder the entire time she spoke to me. She began pounding out my order (literally, she seemed angry?) which was a coffee lover bit and for my dear mother (who didn't even like it btw). When she was done and piled it into the quart container she realized there was a gap and proceeded to fill it with plain coffee ice cream. I say nothing because I'm tired and want this to be over with as much as she does. She starts on my Rocky road, which I ask to add caramel to. She finishes mine with no complaints. Maybe she's getting the hang of it! She starts my aunts rocky road and again fills a big gap at the top with plain chocolate ice cream. Ok look, at this point I can see the finish line and am just ready to pay.
