I was also blown away by the macadamia nut croissant ($6), the croissant itself was fine, flaky and well baked, but the macadamia nut butter frangipane filling for the croissant stole the show. It was so decadent and sweet I savored every bite of the croissant! The marinated goat cheeses from the goat cheese stand were the most delicious goat cheese I've had in my life. Next there was a lady selling fruit leathers,passion fruit, guava and lillikoi, good tasting not to sweet. I found my Warabi! What is that you ask? It's a fern shoot that grows up in the mountains, it's sold at the KCC open market, but I guess because they have to fly it in it's twice the price at KCC. Another vendor (forgot name) was selling, flavored taro chips (wasabi, furikake) and the chip I liked was the crunchy beef jerky chips. Love Hilo and Farmer's markets....Buy LOCAL! Even the variety of produce like long beans, fern, and green leafy types were surprising! Staff is friendly and prices are a bit cheaper on some products compared to the bigger stores!
