My family were shopping in the A.H Riise Mall in Charlotte Amaeli, Saint Thomas when I noticed…read morethere was a Lladro store in the mall. We immediately made a beeline to go look at the store. I am a collector of Lladro figurines. For those not familiar with Lladro, they are handcrafted porcelain figurines from Spain. I own several including a Don Quixote figurine, a Sancho Panza figurine, A dancing coupe, a young girl holding a cat, several geishas, several farmers, and others. I think they are beautiful and classy, and I just love having them decorate my home. They are also pricey. There were several figurines in this shop that certainly caught my eye. Some I thought were just interesting like the Star Wars figurine, others that I was thinking about perhaps buying (Geishas and the Nativity Scene). The guy manning the store was friendly and certainly knew how to haggle, the price was good but I was afraid of getting it home to Ohio safely and undamaged. I did not know where I could ship it from St. Thomas, or if I had enough time to look for one. I was afraid with how delicate they are to take them on the boat, put them in my bags and then have to go thru customs and it being damaged... much less than getting them from Miami back to Ohio. So, after those thoughts went through my head, I decided not to go thru with the purchase. I did not like making that decision, but alas I think it was for the best. I will say, this is a great store to buy from if you are into Lladro. There are many different ones to choose from and all reasonably priced. If your a tourist and have the time to look for a way to ship these beautiful works of art home, I recommend you come here to buy!

I stumbled upon this souvenir store, the Souvenir Depot, while walking to Stone Cold Creamery…read more It's funny because they have the same or similar items as in the Old San Juan area, but at lower prices since it's not in the touristy cruise ship area. For example, the same hats in the Old San Juan district were $24.99, but at this shop they were $14.99, and at the airport they were $29.99. Magnets were $12 for 4 or $12 for 3, depending on the type you wanted. I saw magnets in Old San Juan for $6.99-$7.99 each and at the airport for $8.99-$9.99 each. The bottom line is that most everything is made in China, Thailand, or elsewhere, not in Puerto Rico, so does it really matter which store or where you got it? No, not really. On a side note, it's lame to give a business one or two star because their hours aren't updated on some random webpage that isn't associated with the business. Do better, Yelpers.
