They were super nice and showed us all the cool artwork that were there we were there and then we end up coming back to pick up some of the luminescent fishes and some sweets as well. I stumbled upon this souvenir store, the Souvenir Depot, while walking to Stone Cold Creamery…read more It's funny because they have the same or similar items as in the Old San Juan area, but at lower prices since it's not in the touristy cruise ship area. For example, the same hats in the Old San Juan district were $24.99, but at this shop they were $14.99, and at the airport they were $29.99. Magnets were $12 for 4 or $12 for 3, depending on the type you wanted. I saw magnets in Old San Juan for $6.99-$7.99 each and at the airport for $8.99-$9.99 each. The bottom line is that most everything is made in China, Thailand, or elsewhere, not in Puerto Rico, so does it really matter which store or where you got it? No, not really. On a side note, it's lame to give a business one or two star because their hours aren't updated on some random webpage that isn't associated with the business. Do better, Yelpers.

There were a lot of souvenir stores around but I was looking for something authentic done by local artists. At first you wouldn't think that the Haitian Gallery would be a place to find Puerto Rico art but it is. It actually has a spectacular collection of different things that aren't just tacky souvenirs. When you first walk in, you'll see all your little souvenir knick knacks. They have key chains and magnets for those looking for something to bring back with them. As you walk further back, you'll see the painted art on the walls and the veijigantes (Puerto Rican masks) that artists have put together. You'll see a lot of these around, but the ones here are true works of art. They have beautiful detail and are sturdy meant to be included in an art collection. They are pricey but well worth it. They will be the center piece of your house. On the second floor, you'll find a lot of Haitian paintings by Haitian artists. Many of them modern but some were very traditional. I got the impression that a lot of people skipped this floor. Although I'm not an expert in art, I am confident that there are spectacular pieces here that could sell for a pretty penny but are overlooked. They will offer to send you your items if you buy something large or difficult to take back but they will also offer to pack something tight and break proof if you decide to hand carry. You can pay in cash or credit card. You can also talk to them about reducing your price if you bought something pricey or you bought a lot of things. Love this store and personally think it's the best place to get quality local goods.

This pharmacy has a great selection of items - both tourist and necessity but the prices are mind-blowing. I will never come here again for basics. On the upside, they have a huge selection of tourist knick-knacks, so keeping in mind that it's expensive for the basics, their prices on tourist items are similar to other stores. Tip: There are more reasonably priced Wal-Greens and CVS stores in Old San Juan.
