I decided to come here with my family for lunch as it is located real close to their business. They have their own parking lot which makes it so convenient especially for that area. It looks very nice inside. Service was great as well. Food was all delicious except for my churraso steak. I ordered medium rare, which came out how I asked but it was so charred. It gives it like a burnt taste. I thought it might have been just mine but my brother also ordered the same exact thing medium rare as well and it was so charred. Just tastes like burnt steak on the outside. If it was charred less, I would have been very happy with the restaurant and given it 5 stars. Everything else was great and delicious. Prices are average for an Italian restaurant. I do recommend this place for a quiet nice Italian restaurant. read more

To all Future Brides to Be, Mom's to Be or anyone in need of a banquet hall to host a party. I hosted a bridal shower at Colletti's this past weekend. This was after reserving the room I wanted with the owner Bob Colletti months in advance. Two days before my event, I received a call from Bob telling me I would no longer be in the room I requested. His reason was because he had a larger party he needed to accommodate and that my party would be put in a smaller room. Even though when we reserved the room, we told him we would have between 25 - 30 guest and he said that is fine for that room. However when I received his call, he mentioned 25 was too small which is why he switched me. Because of all these last minute changes, we did not have enough centerpieces for the tables, menus, or room to play our games comfortably. When the actual event started, tables were too small for family style dining so our waitress and my sister had to remove all the extra dining ware to make room for the platters. The family style food was okay (a bit too salty) as far as flavor but it was very scarce. Very small amounts of food considering it was $22 per person. Also, the strawberry sorbet was awful; it tasted old. During the event Bob never came to check on our party and worst of all NEVER apologize for all of the last minute changes. At the end we were summoned to his office to pay the bill and were not asked how everything went. He really did not care. The only positive comment I could make about Colletti's was the wait staff. Tracey was fabulous! She was so accommodating and helpful. My only regret was not giving her extra tip but after being charged 20% gratuity on top of everything we dealt with, we left with a bad taste in our mouth. In summary, if you're considering Colletti's for your next party, sit down with management and really understand their policy. (1) What are the chances of you getting switch to another room (2) How many people will be seated per table (3) Explain how much room you need for games (4) Get anything you can in writing. (5) Have management guarantee your room...Not sure if that's possible but we really wish it was. A note to Management: This review is to hopefully assist you as well. I understand you're a business man and your number one priority is to make money. However, when you're dealing with brides and new moms, we CARE about the details. How we envision the event will go. We PLAN for certain number of tables/guests. We expect so much room for activities and so forth. It's stressful enough having to organize these showers. Having Colletti's add stress on top of that was not appreciated and to not even offer an apology was rude and unprofessional. read more

I have gone to Colleti's many times over the years, but it had been a while since our last visit, so we decided to stop for lunch while out Christmas shopping. It was very pretty inside with the holiday decorations, but I have to say the quality of the food has gone downhill. It wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't good. I had the fried chicken which is their Thursday special. It was uninspired at best and might as well have been "shake n' bake". The French Onion Soup was nothing to write home about. Christoper had Angel - Hair pasta Florentine with chicken. It was seriously bland. I watched him dumping more and more Parmesan cheese on top to make it tastier. He did the same with the potato soup. The service was ok, but the bill (with tip) came to over $40.00. It was so not worth it for the lunch we had. I doubt we will make another visit anytime soon. read more

The first impression was not great, which should have been an indication for us to run out of there. The waitress took forever to bring us a menu and when she did she rushed us to place our order. The bussers were nice and accommodating, unfortunately that was not the same sentiment we had for our waitress. The food was bland and overpriced. The only time we saw our waitress was when she rudely rushed us through our order. We finally saw her at the end to charge us. My Mother in law paid for the food and left a tip of 12 for like $60-$70 worth of food. The fastest we saw that waitress move was when she rushed over to us to rudely ask if we were dissatisfied with her service. I honestly wanted to say yes but when my mother in law said no the waitress rudely asked then why did we only top her 2 dollars. First of all you don't question how much people tip you, second you learn how to count money before you accuse people of anything. Turns out the idiot miscounted and instead of recounting she confronted us. I will never return to this overpriced, bland, rude place again! I went to Colletti's for New Years Eve, because we got a great deal on a special, being offered for Black Friday, or so I thought. My family has been visiting this place for years & this visit was quite different. The special was pay $120 for one & get half off ($60) the second. The package was supposed to include the following: fresh seafood bar & passed hors d'oeuvres, a choice of 3 entrees, open bar, a champagne toast at midnight, coffee bar & pizza, after midnight & live entertainment, all night. Sounded like a a great deal. A group of 30 of my friends & family booked it & so did I. At the time of booking, I informed the manager, Rick, that I am in a wheelchair. He said that was not a problem. In addition to that, my cousin went into the restaurant & booked, who also told him I was in a wheelchair & she watched him write down "wheelchair", next to our group name. When we arrived on NYE, we discovered that he set up our group of 3 tables, in the very back corner of the banquet room, next to the band. It was inaccessible to navigate through the other 20 tables, where people were seated. So, instead of being cornered into the room, where I'd be constantly bumped into by other patrons, we were given the option to sit in the bar area. 10 of us sat in there, without the rest of our group. We didn't have access to hear the band or the seafood bar, the passed hors d'oeuvres, the champagne toast, the coffee bar, or pizza. So, basically we ate dinner & had drinks. Nothing worth the $90 per person. My steak was overcooked & barely edible, by my standards. Later in the evening, my cousin & I were having a conversation at the bar, about the fact that we got charged for drinks & we probably shouldn't have due to our inconvenience. The bartender, Rocco (the manager's son) butted in & started a very loud and hostile fight with her. He said, "you don't like it, f%#k off & get the f#%k out of my bar!" All while slamming his fist on the bar top several times. That is beyond disrespectful & unacceptable! I called today to see if the manager would offer any sort of compensation & he refused. He believes he did everything he could do to accommodate me. I'm not too satisfied with that, because had he done anything to make the seating accessible, after knowing I was in a wheelchair, over a month prior to my arrival, there wouldn't have been a problem. Brand new beautiful patio......full of smoking people, puffing away while you are trying to enjoy the food. Well, not much to enjoy though, we ordered salad with balsamic on the side and got... swimming in ranch dressing! Chicken flatbread so salty we couldn't eat it. Steak sandwich was excellent, too bad it wasn't what we ordered. We end up paying $41 for bread, butter, and tiny piece of steak, the only thing we actually could eat....rest was inedible. BAD,BAD, BAD. We went here for dinner the other day for my girlfriend's birthday. First off we were seated next to an area were there was some construction going on. Allot of construction workers were walking by and it was chilly from whatever door they had open. The waitress was a snarky., and seemed like we were 'imposing' on her. When I asked for coffee, we only got our cups filled half-way. We had to ASK to get them filled [snarky waitress huffed when asked]. Then the order came. My girlfriend ordered the Wild Salmon. After she took a few bites, she commented it didn't taste right. I tried it and it had a moldy, sour, grimey taste and I had to spit it out. It was borderline spoiled. We asked to get a replacement, to which Ms Snarky got the manager. So Mr Manager swaggers up to our table, all huff in puff, and very arrogant. He acted so insulted, he turned the conversation around and began berating us for insulting him. He NEVER apologized or told us he will replace it. It was as if we were at fault and it was not his responsibility. So my girlfriend ordered the shrimp as compensation.. This was equally lame as it was 4 'med' mediocre,butterflied shrimps. $35.00 [nothing taken off the bill as an apology] for a mediocre meal, with no salad, poor service, attitude, and a arrogant owner who was probably feeding the construction workers better, or skimping to customers to pay for work being done. For some reason, my husband and his family like to plan events here. I'm not quite sure why. I have been here 5 times now for various gatherings. The last one was yesterday, for my surprise birthday party. It was definitely a surprise, since the planner, (the one who shall not be named), knows how much I dislike this place. The food is mediocre at best. We had the pizza package, and I was embarrassed when I ate it, because I did not think it was good, and thought others would think the same. We had high expectations walking into this place. Reviews seemed decent and we have passed by it a lot and it always seems to have a good flow of people coming in. It was my nieces 2nd birthday so we took her there. I want to start off by saying the service was great. This review is getting the two stars strictly because of the food. To get right to the point it simply just was not good at all. We ordered a pitcher of sangria...it was so watered down you could barely taste anything in it. Ok drinks were a bust maybe food will be better and make up for it. Not the case. I got the fettacuini Alfredo with chicken. 16 bucks. I didn't know you could mess that up as bad as this was. It was pasta with the worst Alfredo sauce I have ever had. For sure straight out of a jar, but that's not even the worst part...the chicken was 3 breaded chicken tenders actually more like nuggets. I couldn't believe it. So so disappointed!! My husband had the lasagna...almost positive it was frozen and just zapped in the microwave. Lastly my brother had the lobster pasta...23 bucks. Thought for sure...this can't be bad and yet again another fail. Super dry and the lobster taste freezer burnt. They brought out a cupcake with a candle for my niece and sang happy birthday so the smile on her face at the end of the day is what really matters but we literally all just sat there and couldn't believe how horrible the food was. I held my daughter's baptism luncheon here. The place seemed nice enough and the manager was also quite nice throughout the planning process. We elected to serve a family style lunch. The food was okay, nothing spectacular but nobody got sick or complained. My only complaint was the bartender and the bar tab itself. I opened a tab for all of the guests at the beginning of the event. The bartender completely ripped me off. He did not keep track of anyone paying for their own drinks, he just tacked it on to the tab and kept the money. To top is off he was sloooow and had quite an abrasive personality. She can't eat much meat so coming here for the pot roast that melts in your mouth (it's divine) is a real treat for mom. The hostess (Colby?) was so incredibly accommodating. We had called her several times with changes and she was very understanding. She arranged everything for mom's wheelchair beautifully. It turned out to be a wonderful special day for us. read more

And after having given us terrible service, dared to complain about the tip she received or, in her perspective, didn't receive. Our table collectively gave her well over the suggested 20% tip and she actually verbalized to myself, that, "Not one of us even gave a 20% tip". I spoke to a manager (Rocky)on staff the same night, he was also uninterested and refused to rectify the situation with the party involved and only told us that he would "Mention it." I lived a block away for 11 years, so Colletti's was an easy place to frequent. NOT for amazing food, not for ambiance, not for polite service. Just because ti was 1 block away and convenient and decent food. I never tried the award winning ribs - the "award winning" chicken was nothing to boast about. The fish was not that great either. I stuck to pasta. Occassionally the BF at that time and I would order a pizza - he grew up 2 blocks away - nothing impressive.; Greasy and limp. I drove by last weekend on my way to the movie theater at Touhy and noticed exterior construction. They are adding " the best patio section" on the northwest side. Looks like a different name though - "Rabbit...." I had a green light, so no time to read the sign. Maybe the days of Collettis have passed and a new place is taking over. Maybe they are just giving the patio section a name.... All I can say is, I moved 6 miles away 3 years ago and have not made the drive back to eat there since. read more

Attended a banquet at Colletti's yesterday. My first time there. It's my old neighborhood, so I was somewhat anxious to see how it was. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere were outstanding. Enjoyed everything about it. The family style menu was excellent - everything tasted fresh and delicious. I'm not a big fan of ice cream, but the vanilla ice cream was extraordinary. And, as an aside, I am somewhat of a coffee snob, and the decaf coffee was as excellent as the best coffee at a high-end cafe. Will definitely go back. read more

It's been years since we have been here, and in the past it was one of our favorite places to go. We even had a small wedding reception after our destination wedding, and it was excellent. However, things have changed. It was remodeled, and looks very nice, including the new patio. But the food quality went down and the prices went up! I tried the sea bass, it was dried out, and looked flattened, the wild rice was dry and crunchy. My husband's ribs were just ok, and the side of Mac n cheese couldn't have been worse- it tasted like watered down cheese. It's really too bad, because it used to be good. read more

Coletti's is deeply okay. Nice atmosphere, professional service, and the food? Well, the food is okay. Standard. Nothing terrible, but certainly nothing to write home about. It is okay on the level of Olive Garden okay. You could do worse, but in a city like Chicago, you can do oh-so-much better. A club of which I'm a member had its annual monthly dinner at Coletti's last night. Eighteen people. A lot of food, a lot of variety. Everybody ate what they had. Nobody sent anything back. Lots of people took home doggie bags. The check was correct. One example: the ministrone soup. I got soup with my entree. On a scale of 0 to 10, ten being outstanding, I'd give it a solid six. Not a lot of vegetables. Not a lot of beans/pasta/anything. A lot of tomato-like broth that tasted canned. I ate it. A day later, I'm not sick. But if that's the best you can say about food . . . well, you get the picture. The man sitting across the table from me told me he rated the minestrone an 8 on the 0-10 scale. I must inform you, gentle reader, that he also informed me that he has never cooked a meal for himself in his life (he's 56), and he eats the same food every week without much change at all - sardines and broccoli six days a week, for example. Not exactly what I'd call an educated palate. If you, or your significant other, thinks Olive Garden is the height of sophisticated Italian dining, then Coletti's is the place for you. Again, the service was professional, the place looks good, and there is a parking lot. That's something, I guess. Of course, I can say the same things about the Cat Hospital of Chicago, but I would never want to eat there. read more

My stepfather and I hosted my mom's retirement party in one of the banquet rooms here, and from beginning to end, everything was FABULOUS. The food is really good, the banquet rooms are nice (nothing at all like a senior citizen home's cafeteria), and the servers who were assigned to our party were extremely accomodating. Considering what you pay for versus what you receive in return, this place is an inredible value. We decided to pay for an open bar for all of our guests, rather than just open a tab. A couple of my guests ordered things that weren't included with the package (like ultra top-shelf scotch), so the servers checked with me first to make sure that it was okay, but ultimately ended up not even charging me for it anyway. They also waived the cake-cutting fee (I brought in a cake from a local bakery). We were truly treated like family here, and I would throw another party at Colletti's in a heartbeat. read more

As a former server, I'm very observant and critical any time I am dining-in somewhere. This was my first experience at Coletti's and if it wasn't for the company I was with I would have had an unsatisfactory experience at this restaurant. I came here with my two bosses and 7 co-workers for an out-of-the office fun time and dine. We were greeted by our server (whom I wish not to name to save embarrassment) who seemed very nice in the beginning but did mention, however, that the restaurant was going through a shift change (don't know what she was insinuating). We placed our drinks and appetizer orders and our server was very efficient in brining out the appetizers and drinks in a timely fashion. Drinks were also being refilled quickly, which was great for a ten-person party. We had two orders of fried calamari, bread baskets with garlic infused olive oil, and two separate flat bread orders (one was sausage and tomato and the other was cheese and spinach, I think). The appetizers were delicious! I was excited to see what else was in store. We then placed our entree order and I ordered the aged 14oz. New York strip steak. As a steak lover, I was so excited to try it out. I don't doubt that I ordered the most expensive item on the menu: this steak was $28.99 or something crazy like that and I also upgraded to the "gourmet" Mac and Cheese as a side, which was $6.99. I requested my steak to be encrusted in Parmesan cheese if possible, and asked for the brandy peppercorn sauce on the side for an additional $2 per request for a total of an additional $4. After our orders had been placed, it appeared we were then turned over to another server named Stephanie. This was exciting because prior to dining at Coletti's, I went on yelp to read the reviews (of course) and saw a nice review of Stephanie. Also, by this time our server seemed to be irritated by us and was popping over our shoulders to drop things off without saying a word and then rushing away. I didn't know why the change of attitude over the span of 30 minutes. Stephanie mentioned that out server was off for the day or something like that so that might have explained it. Anyway, it turned out Stephanie made a mistake and we were tossed back over to our previous server. Next, we all got our soups or salads and I chose the Caesar salad, which was delicious. When our entrees finally arrived I was horrified. I asked for my steak medium-rare but it was medium. They also put this weird Parmesan blob up top which was not a crust in the slightest. The "gourmet" Mac and Cheese tasted worse than Kraft Mac and Cheese and came in this tiny dish. And worst of all, my steak tasted like charcoal. The outside of my steak had beautiful grill marks so I could not, for the life of me, explain why it tasted like it had been burnt. I tell you, if it wasn't for the appetizers, I would have been starving by now. Also, thank goodness my boss paid for all of our meals or else I would have easily spent over $40 on my entree alone. But I feel terrible that she had to pay for something that was easily the most expensive item on the menu. Needless to say, I left 70% of my meal untouched and wrapped it up to go so I could have my parter try it (doubt that she'll finish it though). Also, our server was by this time was providing us with downright rude service. You can see it all over her face that she was upset and ready to go home or whatever. Next, we had dessert and I ordered the turtle chocolate sundae which was also delicious. When our server brought the check, she was eager to finish with us and was standing behind my boss over her shoulder waiting for payment and asking how much gratuity to add to the check. My boss generously tipped twenty percent which is more than I would have done. I am rating Coletti's two stars because the most important factors in a dining experience is the entree and the service which were both unsatisfying. I am glad, however, that the appetizers, salad, and dessert were all very tasty. If I ever return here, I'll be sure to order something that's hard to mess up such as fettuccini Alfredo or a chicken entree. read more

We have been wanting to try this place for a very long time and finally pulled the trigger. We were very disappointed!! The Margherita flat bread was nothing more than some melted cheese, chopped tomatoes and a bit of basil. It was cold & tasteless. My wife's seafood salad with terrible giardiniera and small bits of seafood was tasteless too. My bolognese sauce was nothing more than red sauce with some meat-Nothing good and Nothing authentic about this place. 3 positives. The server Stephanie & CJ who were waiting on us were very nice. I will admit, after reading other recent reviews of Colletti's, I was a bit frightened with what my baby sister's wedding shower would be like, but was pleasantly surprised when all was said and done. We were seated in the bar area as there were a few different parties happening. I was okay with being there, as it meant a shorter walk for my 85 year old grandmother. The food was better than I was expecting, surprisingly, my favorite thing was the chicken, which I assume was vesuvio style, without the potatoes. I was initially worried as it seemed to be coated in oregano, my least favorite herb, but it was actually the best dish on the family -style table. The staff at Colletti's was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Can't complain. read more

My girlfriend and I ate here tonight. We spent 60 bucks on a very average meal with 1 alcoholic beverage. It's Rib Night Wednesday so I had the burnt ribs with a teaspoon of BBQ sauce on them. The lady had the tilapia and she stated" I could have made better at home, when I go to a restaurant, I want to taste something amazing." She also ordered the 10 dollar sandwich, but the 18 dollar meal came out. It took almost 10 minutes to get served as well. On a bright side, the soups were very good and the bar was very nice. I haven't been here in years and I have to agree that the food was not great. The person I went with used to be a regular a couple of years ago and even he said the food was not he best. I had the Angel Hair Forentine (that's how it's spelled on the menu but it may be Florentine?) and it was very tasteless. They didn't do a good job incorporating flavors with each item on the dish. The pasta was bland and boring, the chicken was just okay, and the spinach had Way too much garlic. I didn't even finish the dish... My friend had the Scapariella and he said it wasn't that great either. He didn't get into much detail but he said it wasn't as he remembered. I tried the mango punch and it was thick, syrupy, and way too sweet. It's such a shame because the place looks Great and the patio is adorable. Hopefully things change, for their sake. We came to celebrate a birthday party and enjoy the live band playing in the outdoor patio, bonus it was a Beatles themed band. They have a large dining area inside and also have a large outdoor patio as well to dine, plus they even do banquet parties. All of the food was pretty good, the crab and shrimp salad was very good! Super nice people, well most of them anyway. I would give the five star big hello just because but there are a few bartenders that have been less than nice to me because of the company I keep. Hey, friends are there for friends, even if it interrupts your tete-a-tete with the used car salesman. The regular cast of characters added a star...trust me, they are fun. I have a friend that lives nearby and often, this is the option. Its a great family run business but sometimes I feel like I'm in Peyton Place and all I want is some cocktails and bar food. Pizza is great and the sammies are delish. The kitchen staff is superb. If only some of the ladies behind the bar would get the chip off their shoulder, really. This was our second time returning there. Food was great! Apps- Baked clams were very good. Not chewy like others. Oysters were good. West coast I believe. Zucchini Fritte melted in your mouth. Always have a good meal here and enjoy the patio. However on our last visit we were very disturbed by a nearby table of diners who believed they were the only ones on the patio. And, in actuality, there was only them (a party if 6 or so) and us, a party of four. It was our first dinner out with friends we hadn't seen in months. We literally couldn't hear each other speak as this one and only other table was so loud! We asked our server if someone could discreetly ask them to lower their volume but was told that wouldn't be possible. The more they drank the louder they became and then came their birthday cake and they really got going! We cut our evening short, paid out tab and left. As we were saying our goodbyes now out in the parking lot, who comes stumbling out but part of this same group who continued to be loud and annoying! Our evening was pretty much ruined. read more

For a neighborhood Italian restaurant, it wasn't bad. I do have to agree with the general age of the patrons, even though my girlfriends and I are in our 30s, we were kind of on the young side last night. Crusty bread was brought to the table, and was very tasty. I ordered Chicken Parmesean... the chicken was a very good sized portion, and quite moist. It was served with a side of mostaccolli, which was aldente, and meat sauce. One friend ordered the Chicken Angelina, both the chicken and the asparagus were perfect, and the baked potato, on the side, was not over or under cooked. The other friend ordered the Cajun Salmon, in the beginning did say that it was a bit spicier than she'd expected, but said that the flavor wasn't too hot to eat, just a shock to her pallet. All in all it was a nice experience at a moderately priced Italian restaurant, and I wouldn't mind trying it again. read more

I just went to Coletti's for dinner, for the first time in about 10 years. We were seated in the bar area, which didn't exactly have the decor to match the menu prices, but eh, ambiance isn't everything I guess. The bread was fantastic and our waitress was very friendly. The salads and soups we had were delicious and fresh tasting but I found my egg plant parm to be pretty bland. The noodles served on the side had almost no flavor, so I wouldn't get that dish again. Everything else looked good and the other 4 people in my party enjoyed their dinners. I guess egg plant parm just isn't their thing. I'd definitely go back to try a different dish, but I'm in no hurry. read more
